Chapter 235: Starlight-river

Staring at the princess for a moment with wide eyes, he thought a bit about what he should do now, and let out a sigh.

"I'm sorry princess, I prefer to venture through the Primordial Dimensions alone!" He stated in a clear voice before he looked at Malu apologetically.

"You can take care of the rest. Princess Ilya shouldn't be able to let you leave so soon as you are our race's ambassador...good luck!"

Without waiting for Malu or Princess Ilya to respond, Shane retreated a few steps and was about to enter the Dimension Portal when he heard Ilya shout at him.

"If you want to die, venture alone! You should know how dangerous the adjacent areas to the Lesser Starlet Fox's habitat are!"

Her words weren't wrong and Shane was fully aware of that. He had acquired lots of information about the Starlight-river dimension and the area he had to enter was among the most dangerous ones.

Even Umbra would face problems roaming around freely.

However, Shane was confident that he wouldn't be discovered by anything as long as he concealed his mana by using his new concealment skill and the mana concealment potion he had purchased.

As such, he smiled teasingly at the princess before he took the last step, and entered the Dimension Portal where he chose the Starlight-river as his destination.

Only a moment later, he disappeared, leaving Princess Ilya and a dumbfounded Malu alone.

Even if Shane had ditched him, the princess was still there. Hence, the ambassador cleared his throat and was about to introduce himself to her when she rushed past him saying,

"Sorry, but someone else will come to meet you shortly, I came here for someone else! Just wait a moment."

Following Shane inside the Starlight-river dimension, Ilya left the human race's ambassador completely alone in a foreign world, city, and most important with a foreign race.

"What happened….?" Was the only thing Malu could ask quietly as he saw a crimson-colored Elus floating towards him.

"Hello Sir, I assume that the Princess followed Shane, right?...*sigh*....My name is Kalur and I'm responsible to take care of Sir. Follow me!"

Malu was glad that there was at least someone who took care of him and that he was not completely stranded in this unknown place.

However, had he known that he was the guest of the Old Emperor, he wouldn't have shown his relief like that.

Following Kalur who floated towards the center of the floating crystal island, Malu was wondering how Shane was able to garner the attention of the Elus-race's Emperor, Empress, and even Princess.

According to Shane's report and what Malu saw right now, Shane didn't seem to do anything special to win over the Elus race.

Instead, it was more like he was trying to pick a fight with them.

At least, that was what Malu could comprehend if one were to look at Shane's behavior from an ambassador's perspective.

One could also say that he acted with the Elus race like friends which was also what Shane wrote within his report.

Malu felt uncomfortable but the crimson color Elemental was being nice to him.

This caused Malu to ask naively

"It might be rude to ask this, but how exactly was Shane able to attract the royalties' attention? It's rather uncommon for a Princess to pursue someone from another race...They seemed like friends and the princess didn't behave...like royalty..I guess….maybe it's the difference in our culture but I was wondering about it...I'm sorry to have asked such a rude question."

He only noticed that his question was a little bit over the top when he was about to end.

Cold sweat poured down his back and he cursed himself for neglecting his duty as an ambassador when Kalur responded.

"Your question is not rude...we are a rather free-spirited race….It might seem difficult to approach us but we are not that difficult to converse with.

That is if you know how you should act….

Well, to be honest, Shane is a special case, but it's hard not to like him.

He has the talent, ambition, determination, right mindset, is not overly polite so as to make one feel burdened, and most importantly he is honest.

Other than that, I, personally, like his wits and endless thirst for knowledge!"

Malu just nodded his head and continued their way towards the large crystal palace.

Meanwhile, Shane emerged within the Starlight shelter whose building complexes were completely different to that of mankind.

The Elus-race didn't need to eat, sleep or do anything that humans needed, except rest.

Once in a while, every Elemental would feel tired and need to take some rest. They usually did so by retracting their liquefied mass into their mana core before entering a state similar to hibernation.

After a few days, those Elementals would have enough energy to stay awake for several weeks again.

As such, the shelter was mainly constructed to accommodate fist-to-football-sized mana cores and defend the Dimension Portal from invading beasts.

With that in mind, there were many crowded cabins constructed all around the Dimension Portal which Shane assumed to be the resting place for the Elementals.

Around those cabins, there was the first reinforced wall that was guarded by several Elementals who stared at him in shock.

Shane could only notice their shock because their liquefied mass was vibrating violently. He used sign language invented by some other race to denote that he was allowed to be here.

Not only did Shane learn the normal Primordial language and how to write with it but also every single word for hand signs.

It was much more difficult than the former but it seemed like it was not completely useless to have learned it!

After that, the Elementals calmed down a little bit before Shane projected the Elus-race's royal emblem in front of him.

He had received this along with the special permission the Empress and Emperor gave him.

Unfortunately, before he could leave the first shelter wall, he heard Ilya's voice behind him.

"STOP!! You idiot I just want to help!! And I'm bored...Let me just help you out for the next two weeks...after that, I'll leave you and start my own mission!"

'2 weeks?' Shane halted in his tracks and turned towards the Princess who continued to float towards him as she said.

"Interested?... Fine, I'll tell you!"

It was as if she wanted to tease him but Shane was not impressed by her hilarious attempt to annoy him.

Instead, he waited for her to speak which she did after Shane didn't do anything for a whole minute.

Annoyed, she couldn't help but blurt out.

"You're lame! It's nothing special.. I'll just have to wait for my mana core to adjust to the changes I underwent while advancing my cultivation rank. Furthermore, it's best for us Elementals to complete missions after we replenish our energy."

Shane nodded his head and thought about how beneficial it would be for him to have the princess next to him for the next two weeks.

'She should know the dimension better than I do and I won't be able to start my first attempt to catch the Lesser Starlet Fox before I know every little detail of the surrounding area either way…'

"Alright, let's go together." Shane said, however, he was unable to suppress sighing one time.

Satisfied with this result, Ilya floated past him through the first shelter gate as she asked.

"What are you waiting for? We don't have all day to waste!"

Shane was debating on his decision to allow Ilya to accompany him but he had already agreed which meant that he shouldn't go back on his words.

Taking a deep breath, he followed Ilya who continued to float in front of him.

Even though the Starlight shelter was much smaller in size than mankind's smallest shelter it was several dozen times better protected!

In the end, the Elus race didn't need much living space. Instead, the vast majority of the Elus race's shelter consisted of defensive measures and weapons he had never seen before.

These weapons were more shocking than anything else he saw on Masua because nobody bothered about those weapons and they were just lying around.

This told Shane that they were unimportant or commonly found, most likely in every single of the Elus race's shelters.

However, after asking Ilya about it, he came to know that the stronger weapons will be taken out once a beast tide would occur!

'Mankind has lots of things to do to catch up to other races...Didn't Kalur also say that their race is just somewhere in the middle in their road to progress when it comes to shelters and their defenses?'
