Chapter 299: Overlord's death

It didn't matter whether the beasts within the beast tide were innately savage or forced to attack the RadiantRing shelter; the only thing Shane cared about was to kill.

His mind was entirely filled with the thought of killing, and even if he knew that this was bad, there was no way for Shane to leave this state right now.

Shane pierced, stabbed, and brandished Mydra, killing one enemy after another effortlessly.

His methods were merciless and with his tamed beasts next to him, Shane always had enough space to evade incoming elemental attacks.

Meanwhile, the Starlight guild members were moving in one large group creating a huge pile of dead corpses by the minute.

Their methods were even more efficient than Shane's because the mages were able to use large-scale skills.

Only the archers in their small group of 40 members killed the Awakened stage beasts in the surroundings, while the rest focused on small movements to decimate the huge number of Elite staged beasts.

Shane was enveloped in his mana membrane and the Bloodlust-killing-intent that was currently being absorbed by Mydra, the Sword of Blood's overflowing blood energy.

He felt as if his strength was increasing with each passing second, yet, the number of beasts he was able to kill decreased the more time passed.

This originated mainly from the fact that Shane's entire being looked ferocious and gave him the appearance of a merciless slaughterer who would be able to kill every single opponent he would have to face!

It was not necessarily a disadvantage, but neither was it an advantage for Shane, who had a mission to solve!

Furthermore, Shane and his team were currently only facing one out of four beast tides and there was an important difference two out of those four beast tides had to face!

Shane and the rest were on the northern side, and he had Miriam, who was strong enough to fight against the Greater Phantom Tiger, next to him.

At the same time, there was Aisha and the Valkyries taking care of another beast tide.

Their combat prowess was known to be extremely strong, yet, Shane was worried about something.

It was great that he, his team, and the Valkyries were there to fight two beast tides, but the other two beast tides had only around 150,000 humans at the Expert stage to defend themselves. There didn't even have a single Expert having a mana purity at or above 90%.

Shane was hoping that both Miriam and Aisha would be strong enough to defeat their opponents while being able to stay in a good shape without being severely injured.

Other than that, they had to have enough mana in their mana pool in order to fight another time against two more Overlord beasts!

Even though Shane was worried, it was great that the four Overlords were not fighting together, and instead had branched out and fought individually with their beast armies!

This decreased the pressure on the two young women by a large margin because it was evident that facing four Overlord beasts at the same time was much more dangerous than facing them one after another!

One could say that it was a blessing in disguise.

Shane was not sure how much time had passed but his entire body was beginning to ache due to the constant toll of exerting two martial art techniques while maintaining two skills at the same time.

If he had not been circulating more mana through his entire body than it could handle, his body might be in less pain right now.

However, in his opinion, the pain he was enduring right now was definitely worth it!

The number of opponents he, Umbra, and Cosmo had defeated numbered in the tens of thousands.

Those beasts were mostly Elite stage beasts and simply killed by Umbra, who could use his large body to bulldoze the smaller beasts as if they were ants.

Shane's mind that had been consumed by the desire to kill was slowly calming down. It was only when he had to face five peak-Awakened stage beasts at the same time that he transferred a small part of the Hidden Paradise's stored mana in order to increase his strength one last time.

This allowed him to kill three peak-Awakened stage beasts in rapid succession before he stalled while using his superior strength in order to finish off the last two beasts as well.

After that, he stiffened and cramps spread throughout his body.

'My body can't take it anymore?'

He hadn't expected his body to forcefully restrict every means that was rapidly draining him of his energy and mana.

As such, Shane could only look around himself before he tried to figure out the current situation on the northern side of the shelter, where he was currently at.

From the looks of it, most beasts had already been taken care of, and only the Elite stage beasts that were left had reached the Shelter wall.

Before the beasts could bask in their achievement several dozen mana-sphere crossbows shot them dead within the next few minutes.

All the soldiers were exhausted, even those who hadn't used many skills or martial art techniques.

Simply fighting for several hours would have already been enough to exhaust someone entirely.

Nevertheless, Shane knew that the entire beast tide was far from being concluded.

There were still three beast tides left, while the one he had faced could be said to be over!

However, there was still the Greater Phantom tiger left, and Miriam was utilizing every possible means to defeat it.

When Shane had been able to move his body again, he immediately searched for the Starlight guild members who were equally exhausted as Shane.

Yet, instead of wasting time, they stared at Shane, waiting for his next instructions.

Shane had already purchased lots of potions that were expensive, yet extremely useful for their current situation.

There were mana replenishing, stamina recuperation, calming potions, and a few more that were all at a high grade and quality.

In their current situation, Shane couldn't care less about the costs of potions as long as everyone would survive.

As such, after Shane handed out the potions he looked at Lias before he said,

"Please take a look at the Valkyries battlefield and appraise me of their current situation!"

After that, Shane turned to two archers, asking them to take a look at the other two beast tides.

He knew that the situation on those sides might be much worse, but there was still a small trace of hope, telling him that everything was better than he was dreading.

How could he have known that one shelter wall was already about to collapse while the other was being heavily assaulted?

Nevertheless, Shane had yet to leave the north side like the other defenders were currently doing in order to act as reinforcement for the other sides.

He was staring at Miriam and how she brandished the halbert that was enveloped in dense flames, trying to kill the five-meter tall Greater Phantom Tiger.

While it looked like Miriam was at a disadvantage as the Greater Phantom tiger's fierce attack hit her almost every time, she was able to evade all of them.

Her control over the Phoenix fire was excellent and Shane didn't even have to wait for long before he witnessed Miriam ending the Greater Phantom tiger's life!
