Now that the northern side of the RadiantRing shelter was taken care of, Shane and the Starlight guild wanted to move towards the next beast tide.
Suddenly, just at that moment everyone he'd sent out to scout the situation returned, Miriam collapsed on the ground.
She was panting heavily and Shane sent Umbra to bring her back, while he listened to the reports of his team.
He was astonished and frustrated by what he heard, but there was nothing he could do against it!
On one hand, he was glad to hear that the reinforcement seemed to have arrived, however, on the other hand, Aisha and her Valkyries' mounts had been killed by the Bloodlust Thunder wolf.
They seemed to be fighting against each other once again, and according to Lias' report, they were still holding strong.
This was not that great, but even worse was that the Four element eagle had been able to conquer one of the shelter walls!
After that had happened the beasts behind it were able to destroy the shelter wall, allowing them to enter the RadiantRing shelter!
It was only thanks to the reinforcement that they could be forced to retreat, preventing any beast from nearing the Dimension Portal.
Other than that, there was also the last beast tide with the Golden Centipede King, who was using its spatial affinity in order to kill as many opponents by teleporting them right into the fray of multiple peak-Awakened stage beasts.
This was bad, but the Golden Centipede King was not as aggressive and eager to attack the shelter as the other three Overlords had been.
Meanwhile, only the Greater Phantom Tiger had been killed, while only the Bloodlust thunderwolf had sustained a few injuries.
When Umbra returned with Miriam's armor's coat in his mouth in order to drag her to them, Shane took a proper look at her as he clenched his fist.
"She won't be able to fight like that….I think?" He mumbled, trying to figure out what else they could do if nobody could deal with the Overlords.
Without the highland horses as mounts, the Valkyries were much slower than the Bloodlust Thunder wolf and Shane was aware of this fact.
Meanwhile, only Miriam was relatively faster than that! As such, he hoped that she would be able to support Aisha and her unit.
This seemed to be more difficult than expected, and Shane retrieved a few high-grade purified potions before he gently opened Miriam's mouth.
Pouring the content of the potions into her mouth, he quietly mumbled an apology before he requested Kylia to heal the shallow injuries she had sustained.
Only a few seconds had passed after Kylia had begun to heal Miriam before she jumped up on her feet.
Everyone was astonished to see that Miriam did not only regain consciousness but that she was already up and ready to fight.
However, only a moment later she lost her balance as the world around her seemed to violently spin making her dizzy.
She almost fell, but Shane prevented her fall by gently holding her upright.
"Rest for a few minutes before helping Aisha and the Valkyries. Their situation seems to be the best right now, but there is no need for you two to fight separately!
By fighting together you won't have to exhaust yourself like that."
It was obvious that Shane's words were logical, but Miriam was not even listening to him because her eyes were unfocused and cold sweat poured down her back.
'She has already overused her mana?' Shane thought in astonishment. It was not something a prodigy with a lot of combat experience would do under normal circumstances.
Taking a deep breath, Shane pinched Miriam's cheeks before shaking her thoroughly.
When he did so, Shane noticed that Miriam had almost lost her consciousness again and he began to seriously doubt that she would be able to fight given her current state.
It seemed unlikely, but it was not like he had the right to make any decisions for her.
"You can either rest or act stupid, just do whatever you want. I don't understand why you were in such a hurry to kill the Greater Phantom Tiger either way!"
However, just as Shane was about to loosen his grasp around Miriam she answered him with a weak voice.
"It...had an ability that allowed it to increase its strength with each passing minute!"
This astonished Shane greatly because he had never heard that Greater Phantom tigers had such an ability. However, not knowing something didn't mean that it was not possible.
Nevertheless, he could finally understand Miriam's decision to end the Greater Phantom tiger as soon as possible!
Unfortunately, this also meant that her combat prowess had drastically decreased for the next few hours.
"I don't know if you can continue to fight, but we'll leave now!" Shane just announced before he let go of Miriam once he ensured that she could stand without getting dizzy.
After the defenders from the northern side had rushed to support the others, the whole situation seemed to have gotten a little bit better, but Shane knew that this was only temporary.
From what he could tell, the biggest issues were Superior peak-Awakened stage beasts and the Overlords, and nobody was able to deal with them properly.
Miriam was too exhausted and Aisha seemed to be occupied with the bloodlust thunder wolf!
Nevertheless, their situation seems to be changing right now. It was somewhat between advantageous and extremely horrific.
Thus, instead of lingering any longer at the northern side of the RadiantRing shelter, Shane and the others rushed towards the side Aisha was defending.
In his opinion, it was better to tackle one beast tide after another and the side at which Aisha and the others were deemed to be the one that was overcoming the tide efficiently.
While Shane was already leaving, Miriam could barely grasp one of Umbra's horns as he followed Shane and the others.
It had astonished Shane that not a single human had tried to attack Umbra, but it seemed like everyone understood that he was a tamed beast.
This was great and made many things more comfortable for the next battles because Shane didn't have to be as worried about Umbra as before.
In the end, it didn't happen often that a beast was protecting humans and their shelter. As such, the others had probably thought that Umbra and Cosmo belonged to someone!
While they rushed to their right side, where Aisha and the Valkyries were situated, Shane couldn't help but praise Miriam's determination inwardly.
Despite being in an extremely weakened state, she was still determined to protect the RadiantRing shelter!
As such, he didn't say anything while Umbra grumbled about Miriam grasping his horn, and neither did Shane act when Miriam used some of her regained strength to lift herself on Umbra's head.
Rather than being annoyed by Miriam, Shane found Umbra's complaints amusing.
However, before anything else happened, Shane and the others roughly perceived how many beasts were left at the eastern side of the shelter.
"Why are there so many??" Jack subconsciously blurted before he covered his mouth as Shane responded.
"That's not important right now. We have to end this as soon as possible. We still have to take down a total of three beast tides after all!"
