305 7.33 Learning From Tomes Would Be The Fastest Way

During our short break, I gave the Lightfoot tomes for them to learn and I myself took the Farming to enhance on my farming skills. That's what I could think about during the offer for 3 free basic tomes.

I chuckled to myself as I prepared to cook the steam fragrant rice. While waiting for the rice to be cooked, I sliced the pork skin (the fine bristles had been shaved clean first... Hahahha) and I threw it in a wok filled with a bit of water and made a V-shaped fireplace stand with 2 logs and some embers in the middle.

Once the water had boiled off, I covered it with an overturned plate and it slowly simmers and the fat would be released as it will slowly become crispy pork rinds. I will use a few spoons of that oil to mix with the steamed fragrant rice to give it a nice flavour.

All the cucumber, tomatoes, pineapples and onions were diced accordingly and the pork had been cut up according to my desired chunks. I checked the pork rinds and its ready to be sieved and place on the plate. The oils had been placed in a small rice bowl where it could be used to fry vegetables and other dishes.

The smashed garlic was placed inside the wok and more wood had been placed between the two logs and fire had been started nicely. After the garlic had been fried, I placed in the chunks of pork and fried till its almost three quarters done and dumped in the vegetables and poured in about a ladle full of vinegar. I added sugar and black pepper and covered it with the upturned plate.

After getting it to simmer for 15 minutes, I checked the appearance and didn't use the lid anymore to let the watery contents evaporate and the fragrant rice that had been set aside was done. I took a ladle and mixed up the rice and place it next to the embers to be radiated and warmed.

In about 10 minutes, the sweet and sour pork is ready and I scrape away the excess embers and let the radiated heat warm both the wok and rice pot. I looked at the setting sun and soon the dwarfs would be heading back to our encampment.

"Thank you once again for accommodating us for our dinner, Young man. We really appreciate your fine cooking and we hope you would be staying here till we depleted the mines. It would be another 2 weeks before we look for another place."

"So you have by any chance have a plan to go to Brotherton? We still would like to gather the shards from you, let's say for 45 days more in the new place excluding the rest of the days remaining here?"

"Sure... If you'd like us to be in Brotherton, it's much better too. At least we do have the same destination and we could have proper meals prepared by you or the missus."
