313 7.41 A Camp named SafeHaven

"Alright...we had finally settled with our new member here. He is known as Will.I.Am or just Will for short, would that be fine, Will?"

"It's fine with me sirs, ma'am. Will would be fine."

"Alright, since its night time and now had gone beyond midnight, we won't be doing anything much except for tomorrow morning where we would be setting up a temporary camp so that our things won't get damaged or spoilt in the rain."

"No worries boss, the things we bought were all nicely wrapped up and won't get waterlogged and this is a nice place to camp out just like the last one. It's away from the river so our camp won't be flooded over."

"What would our plans be for tomorrow? We won't know if our guests would be here right? I don't see any indications but according to the map, the mines are clustered here in the swamps and we are just 10 mins away from it here."

The four of us huddled close to the fireplace as it was night time and doesn't need a shelter for the moment as it was a starry night with some wisps of clouds overhead. It's not going to rain anytime soon.

The chirping of birds just before the break of dawn awoke both Will.I.Am and me as we sat up and rubbed my eyes. Seeing Will.I.Am awakened early morning as I did, I instructed him to place two pots to boil water and prepare the oatmeal and morning tea while I folded the blanket and went to the groceries that were purchased yesterday.

The baskets of groceries were organised systematically and it was easy for me to pick up the things that I need. I retrieved a chopping board from our last encampment and set it down near the baskets. I then opened up a sack of oatmeal and scooped 2 bowls to prepare our breakfast. A pint of cow's milk was placed outside the basket to be taken with the oatmeal later.

The fireplace was smouldering and I adjusted two thick branches over it to make a stand for the 2 pots to sit. The early morning din woke up the other duo and they greeted me and washed up.

"What's for breakfast, ring leader? You both are up early..."

"It's freezing sleeping out in the open. Could you show Will how to pitch a shelter to put our haversacks and equipment underneath it and another shelter for our groceries? Thank you so much...breakfast would be ready soon."

"JL, could you bring out the bowls and utensils? Breakfast gonna be ready once the water boils for the oatmeal."

Jean Lethal gave a thumbs-up as he hurried over after he had placed all of our blankets on the low overhanging branches to air them out.

Everyone knows their tasks early morning so everything is clockwork.

Soon, after breakfast, we all went about our task and I had chopped a considerable amount of trees and had gotten logs, sticks, leaves and also some silkworm. I wondered what we are going to do with the silkworms since no one here knows how to make yarn.

By mid-morning, 2 shelters had been successfully set up with the intended items placed under it. 2 preparation tables had been set, and one was assigned to place all the groceries on top. An 'A' display rack was fabricated near the fireplace with 2 planks across it for placing all the crockery on it.

2 low dining tables had been set near the fireplace with 10 stools that were made from planks as seats with 3 short legs. This would accommodate the guests and us. The whole kitchen and dining area had been fully set up and Matilda decides to move out by lunchtime.

"Good day, my young adventurer friends, we meet again I suppose. Don't worry about breakfast, we had ours earlier since we knew you would be busy setting up your base. You have met a new friend here, that's good."

One of the dwarfs greeted me as we exchanged pleasantries.

"Would it be fine with you if we set up a mine shaft here just within the shaded area of the forest? In this way, we won't be taking much time to be in and out as the grounds to make the planned mine shaft had to be shelved as the ground it is too mushy."

"Whatever you said, Doc...the pleasure is all mine. By the way, this place is called 'SafeHaven and it was named by our Missus here. Our new-found friend is Will.I.Am and was a slave before. We paid the trader and freed him. He is free to go anywhere he wishes, but he chose to stick with us."

The dwarf waves his hands while he and his gang went in slightly deeper inside the forest and a little while later, a mine shaft integrated and form out of thin air. As the three of us had seen such a phenomenal, it was the first time for Will.I.Am to witness these little people and their king of magic.

"Alright people, please mark your calendar. We would be here for 90 days and we would be getting our main supply from the market every 2 weeks and other stuff as and when required."

"Matilda would be leaving us for a week to visit her granny after lunchtime today. During her absence, Will and I would be taking the responsibilities until her return."

"Roger that..." Matilda and Jean Lethal chorused together.
