Anna and Aaron snoop around the room, and as they do that, they saw a big book suddenly came in their sight. Like a curious cat, the twins open the book very carefully. The book is old, and one reckless move can rip the pages in just a second.
"Silas Coleman, Noah, Evangeline, wow. It seems that this book is about our family tree, brother." Anna is fascinated that there is a book of records of each name of her ancestors.
"Yes. I can see that." Just like Anna, Aaron is also fascinated by the fact that their family has a record like this. "Let's go to our side," Aaron stated, then flip through the pages.
The twins arrived at the page where their written name is. And on that same page, their grandfather and father's name is also written. As they are staring at it, they noticed something that made them frown.
"That's unusual, our uncle James' name is not written on this book." The only name Anna sees underneath her grandfather's name is her father's. In Anna's mind, it concluded to her that her father is the only child of Marcus Coleman.
"Well, it's possible that he is not a Coleman blood," Aaron commented. Anna and Aaron are not dumb, seeing that James' name is not written on the page, the only way to explain it is that James is not carrying the blood of the Colemans in his veins.
"All this time, I thought that uncle James is the first-born of our grandfather." Anna doesn't know whether she should feel bad or not towards her uncle James. She may not like her uncle James, but she does feel that way.
"To be honest, I have been wondering why uncle James didn't inherit running the family business." For any elite family like theirs, first-borns are usually the ones to inherit running the family business. Of course, there is an exception in some occasions, but it is always the first-borns. "If this is the reason why then I think I understand."
As Anna Aaron is talking about their uncle James, they suddenly heard footsteps coming near the room. With their heart beating fast, Anna and Aaron hurriedly placed the book back to its original place. After they have done that, they scan the room to find a spot to hide their selves.
"Brother, we should hide inside that big closet," Anna whispered to her brother.
Aaron nodded his head, then followed his sister inside the closet. In just a nick of time, two people came inside the room without knowing that Anna and Aaron are hiding inside the room.
"Why is the light in this room is on? And the heirloom necklace is also missing."
"Maybe the old man took the necklace and left the lights on."
These voices were heard loud and clear by Anna and Aaron, and the expression on their faces shows that they shocked. "Brother, those voices are uncle and auntie's voices," Anna whispered to her brother. She did not expect James and his wife to be present here in the old mansion.
"I know, and let's keep our mouth shut for now," Aaron said. Aaron does not want his uncle James to know that he and his sister are hiding inside the closet because it would only bring trouble for him. His uncle is good at making up stories in front of his grandfather. Besides, Aaron would like to hear the reason why his uncle James came to this place.
"That old man! Why would he take the necklace?! And here I thought that he will leave that necklace here until that damn brat inherited the family business!" James angrily said. The necklace that was hidden here in the old mansion, is the Coleman family's most precious treasure.
That necklace is the symbol of the Coleman family and it has been passed down to generation to generation. Since Arion is not present at the moment, the one who is in charge of that necklace is the old master of the Coleman family, Marcus Coleman. And by the time Aaron is ready to inherit the family business, the heirloom of the family will be passed down to him.
"What should we do, husband? If we can't have that necklace in our hands, then we can't take over the family business." James' wife worriedly said. They have been planning for a long time now. And the necklace was part of the plan. If they have the necklace in their hands, it would be easy for them to take over the Coleman family business.
They wanted to take the necklace the last time they were here, but Marcus was also here, that's why it took a long time for them to be here again. However, not that they are here, the necklace is gone.
"That damned old man, always getting in my way!" The first time that James accidentally stepped inside this room, the first thing that he saw in the book records of each Coleman records. Fascinated by it, James opened the book, then searched for his name.
When he could not see his name on the record, he immediately concluded that he does not carry the Coleman blood in his body. That discovery pained him very much, and that he understands why Arion inherited the family business instead of him being known as the first-born son of Marcus Coleman.
After Arion disappeared without a trace, James waited for Marcus to let him take over the family business and he also waited for Marcus to tell him the truth of his birth. But as a result, none of his waiting bloomed.
Despite the anger, he felt towards Marcus, James still acted like an obedient son. And Marcus treats him like a son, but that only angered James more.
In James' mind, Marcus is only acting that he loves him. With that in mind, James decided to side with Rolfe Lance. With Rolfe's help, James is sure that he will take everything that Marcus owes to him.
"At this rate, Aaron is set to inherit everything. We can't let that happen, husband!" As James' wife, she just recently discovered that her husband is only a Coleman by name and not by blood. She was very disappointed when she learned the truth, however, she still sticks close to James since James is planning to take over everything that the Coleman family has.
She will help James so that she won't fall down the ladder. 'If I don't help my husband, I will face mud again. I want that to happen!'
"Woman! Don't think that I don't know that fact!" James angrily said.
