"Enough!" Leonardo shouts on the top of his lungs. And just like what Tess told him, he stopped the four of them from making any noises. It seems like they were startled by his voice.
They did not expect him to volume up his voice, after all, Leonardo is the type of person who would rather watch someone argue rather than stopping her from arguing.
"There. I've done it, Nanny Tess. Is that enough for you?" Leonardo sounded like an obedient person in front of Tess, which is a very unusual sight for everyone else in the room.
"Yes. You did a great job, Leo." Tess patted Leonardo's head which made Leonardo play along and acted as a sweet little puppy. The sight of Leonardo is making Mary shivers, she knows that there is a playful side of Leonardo, but she just can't get used to it. "Now, you four must listen to me very closely, you got it?" Tess said seriously.
"Y-yes." The four of them said at the same time. No matter how strong or scary the other might look at them, they can never win against Tess. With just one word from Tess, they will obey without a doubt especially Arion.
Arion has known Tess his whole life. Tess is like his second mother, and he could say that the twins feel the same way.
Without waiting for Tess to say a word to them, the four of them sat on their seat properly. However, their setup is quite an interesting sight. There are two long sofas in the room, Anna and Arion sat together, while Mary and Aaron sat together on the other sofa.
It's clear that Anna is firm in her choice of wanting her father to stay at the same house as her. And it's also clear that Aaron rejects his sister's choice. For the first time, they are not giving in to one another. They both are firm to the decisions they want to make.
"First of all, Mary and Arion, you both are a.d.u.l.ts, why can't both of you act like one?" Tess can't understand why is it so hard for Mary and Arion to act like an a.d.u.l.t or a parent in front of the twins? Instead of stopping the twins' argument, they went into an argument themselves, which is very not appropriate in Tess's eyes.
"Because, Nanny Tess, this so-called husband of mine doesn't understand that my son is not ready to open up to him. I just told him the other day that he should take it slowly, but look at him now." Mary remembers what she said earlier and she didn't mean it. Of course, she should love to help Arion get close to Aaron.
However, because of her unstable emotion at the moment, she cannot say out loud what she really meant. Sometimes, she really hates this side of her.
"Excuse me? I understand that it will take time for Aaron to accept me, and I'm not rushing it. I am here because this is what my daughter wants. As a father, I will do what makes her happy and if you are going to be a hindrance to it, then it is going to be a problem between the two of us." Arion replied.
Aaron needs time, and Arion understands that. But that doesn't mean that he cannot stay at the mansion just because of that reason. He also has to consider what could make his precious daughter wants. Of course, if he is going to stay in the mansion, he will limit himself towards Aaron.
He doesn't want to rush things with his son. He will respect it if Aaron really wants to stay away from him, but he will show Aaron that he is trying and he hopes that Aaron would at least appreciates his efforts.
He is doing his part as a father, and what is missing is for Aaron to do his part as a son.
"You think that I don't care about my daughter's happiness? Arion, I care about her very much. But you have to at least consider Aaron's too." From the way Mary is seeing it, Arion is not at least considering what their son is feeling. Although she does appreciate that Arion wants to make their daughter happy, the only problem is that Aaron is not comfortable being around him.
"I am considering his feelings! Do you think I'm that dense not to notice that uncomfortable look on his face whenever he sees me?! What kind of a father am I to not at least notice that detail?" Truth to be told, after leaving his family years ago, he thought to himself that he doesn't deserve the title of being a father or being a husband.
Even up until this very moment, he still thinks that way. Despite that thought in his mind, he voices out what his heart is telling him, that no matter what he is still the twins' father and Mary's husband.
For the twins, this is their first time seeing their parents arguing. Just by watching and hearing every word they are spouting to each other is like an arrow that pierces through their heart. In the past, they could not understand what others feel when they see their parents fighting or arguing, but now, the twins understand it very well.
It hurts them to see their parents like this.
Aaron might not say it out loud, but he does long for his father's love. It is just his pride that is getting in the way of him saying that to his father. A part of him says that he can be strong without a father and that he could protect the family without him. But there is also a part of him that is very fragile without its other support.
As for Anna, she already accepted her father. It's not because she fully forgives her father for leaving, it's because, for all the time in both of her first and current life, she wanted to feel his love. Just like Aaron she needs his support, each member of her family is her support and if one is missing, then it is possible that everything will collapse.
While Arion and Mary are still continuing their argument, Leonardo, on the other hand, is observing the silent twins. Just by observing them, he can tell that the twins are hurting from what is happening right now.
He understands what they are feeling right now because he has experienced the same situation before. He also understands Mary and Arion, they both want to make their children happy, but the way they approach it is not really making them happy.
'Being a parent is such a hardest thing to do.' Leonardo inwardly commented.
