"Grandfather." Sharon who is afraid of losing her title as one of the young ladies of the Coleman family is now crying in separation.
"Sharon, there is no use in wasting your tears. I must do what I have to do to set an example for everyone in this room." Marcus spoke in a cold tone. "Starting from now on the names that are inside this folder will no longer be part of the family. You know who you are, there is no need for me to mention everyone's name." He declared.
Most of those people Marcus is talking about almost fainted from the shock. All their hard work on wanting to overthrow Marcus from his seat is all for naught. Some of them even tried harder in begging not to throw them out, however, Marcus is firm. He did not even glance at them.
"Grandfather, what about me? What about my mother?" The only thing that Sharon can blame the misfortune that she is having now is her father and the twins. If her father just moved around quietly no one would be able to notice what he is trying to do. As for the twins, she is angry at them because they are ruining the life she is used to.
"Sharon, enough. There is no use on begging him. After all, he doesn't even see you as one of his grandchildren." James laughed with a hint of bitterness.
"What kind of nonsense are you spouting, James." Marcus is enraged that James is trying to say that he was never once been a grandfather to Sharon. How can James say that out loud when he gave his best as a grandfather to Sharon.
He treated Sharon like how he treated the twins. Whenever Sharon asks him about something, he always tells her to show him her hard work and he will heed her wish. But Sharon disliked that, and since she didn't like that, Marcus didn't give her what she wanted.
Sharon is the one who distanced herself from him. He admits that he is partly at fault for not paying more attention to her, but that does not mean James should that he never been a grandfather to her. He gave his best. It was Sharon who decided to distance herself.
Even now, he is thinking that he will not include Sharon to the punishment James and his wife will face.
"Nonsense? Heh. Father, I'm not talking nonsense." James scoffed. "Should I even call you my father? We are not blood-related or anything like that, am I right?" Shocked, anger, and sadness are evident in Marcus' eyes. He can't believe that James just said.
Without saying a word to James, Marcus angrily looks at Marietta and Rent. Not asking James who did he heard that from, Marcus knows it right away. The only two people who really want him out of the picture are Rent and Marietta.
These two greedy people are the only ones who would actually dare to cross his line. "You two actually dared to anger me like this?!" It was no wonder why his son felt son distant from these past few years.
Rent and Marietta trembled because of their fear of Marcus, then they both lost their strength and unable to stand up properly. They heard that Marcus is a scary person when he is angry, but they did not imagine that Marcus could be this scary.
"Oh, please. You don't have the right to be that angry at them. At least they told me the truth about my birth, unlike you." James who is unable to stand by and watch spoke in an angry tone. "You kept the truth away from me! You have no right to get angry at the people who were being honest with me!"
While trying to calm himself down, Marcus spoke slowly. "It's true that I hid the truth away from you, but that didn't mean I never tried to talk to you about that topic!" Whenever Marcus thought that he is ready to tell his son about his birth, he always freezes whenever he sees his son's smile. That smile always discourages him to say the truth about his son's birth.
His wife always encourages him to be truthful to James, but he always backed out. His wife even tried to do it herself, but he always stopped her from doing so. After his wife died, he became a coward.
He is worried that if he ever tells James the truth, there is a possibility that he will never saw the wonderful smile that James shows to him, but it seems that he is wrong. Hearing it from other must have hurt him deeply.
"Lies! All lies! Your words are just full of lies! You never really cared about me! That's why you never bother telling me about it!" James refused to believe that his father ever thought about telling him the truth because if he did, he would have noticed it.
"Nonsense, James! I do care about you a lot! I hesitated because I never want to hurt your feelings!" Marcus just realized that whether he tells the truth or letting other people tell James about it, James will still get hurt.
However, if he was the one who told James, then there is a chance that James will forgive for not telling him about it sooner.
Marcus is regretting now, but he knows that it's too late. The situation they are in right now is dire. For the sake of not having a discord inside the family, Marcus has no other choice but to lose his son. 'I'm such a worthless, father.' Marcus inwardly said.
"Never want to hurt my feelings? Heh." James laughed at how hypocrite his father sound just now. He hates it that his father didn't even realize that he has been hurting he was little. "You and mother, you both are just the same. You guys never appreciate me! Always saying that I needed to do better."
Back then, whenever he shows his achievement from school, both his father and mother always tell him that he can do better than what he achieved. But when it comes to his little brother, Arion, he never once heard them say the same exact sentence they said to him towards Arion.
At that time, his young mind keeps telling him that in their eyes, he is not worth praising. He also doubts that he wasn't their child, and when years pass by and his aunt Marietta and uncle Rent told him the truth of his birth, everything that he has been thinking since an early age, is the truth and it broke him.
There was a moment of silence, but that silence didn't last long when they heard Arion mumbled something. "You're an idiot."
"W-What?" James asked. Without even asking who was the person Arion talking about, James knew that it was him right away. His little brother is always against him after all.
"I said..." Arion started as he walks towards James. "You're a damned idiot!" The moment he is in front of James, he punched him straight in the face. He has two option in mind before making his move, it's either punch his older brother's face or choke to death. Since he didn't want to be the culprit of having his father in a heart attack, he chose the first option, punch his older brother's face.
"Arion! There is no need for you to use violence on your older brother!" Marcus shouted. To Marcus' opinion, no matter what is happening, Arion shouldn't use violence, especially to his older brother.
"You're blinded by your nonsensical anger!" Arion who didn't listen to his father's words gripped his brother's collars and forces his brother to look at him. "It's true that you have the right to get angry at Father and Mother for not telling you the whole truth about your birth, however, you have no right to say that they didn't care about you! They always told you to do better because they want you to be the one leading this family, not me!"
Truth to be told, he was never good when it comes to academics, all he does is playing games and fool around. While his brother was a hard worker when it comes to studying. They much more attention to him because they want him to be like his brother. To work harder in his studies.
He was always compared to his brother when it comes to academic topics and was envious that his brother is better than him. Because of that, he finally becomes the person his parents want him to be, he worked hard in his studies.
He knew from the start that his parents are planning to make his older brother be the next heir, and had no intention of being on fighting his brother for that matter.
