7 Giving In

*Thud* A loud bang was heard throughout the hospital corridor. "Xiao Wei, be careful. Are you hurt? Why are you so distracted?" Shu Fei asked. Shu Fei looked genuinely worried as her eyes showed a worry.

"I'm fine, Shu Jie. Just a little tired."

Shu Jie is a nurse from the gynecology department. What is she doing on the psychology floor? Despite being older, Shu Jie admired Xiao Wei. Being a doctor at this age and her calm nature and beauty is a plus-point. So, whenever Shu Jie got a break she came to check on Xiao Wei. This became regular making Xiao Wei a bit attached to her.

Should I tell her about what happened yesterday? Xiao Wei thought to herself and again immersed herself in the thoughts of that mysterious man. She needed money and place where she could practice her talent to the fullest, but was it right to abandon the hospital?

While walking down the corridor, she suddenly saw Dr Song Ji Hyun. Even though they were on the same field and Xiao Wei doesn't really bother herself with him, it's clear that the man isn't really a fan. Ji Hyun ignored her as usual and was about to walk away as Xiao Wei called his name from behind.

He was a bit taken aback. Why would she call him? And why does she look worried? He could tell that something was troubling her. No matter how big of a jerk he was, in reality he is a talented psychologist who is known as the golden prodigy.

"If you had to choose between the peace of your own mind and the peace of others' minds, which on would you choose, Dr Ji Hyun?"

"We're psychologists, Dr Wei. If can't take care of our own minds, we don't deserve to take care of others.", Dr Ji Hyun replied with his usual calmness. What he meant was clear. Even if you're a doctor and saving others is a priority, saving yourself should be a priority too. Being a doctor doesn't mean you'll throw your life away for people's convenience. No matter how much selfish it sounds.

Xiao Wei smiled weakly and walked away leaving the man confused. Hah! The prodigy is confused. And the lady got her answer.

Who really is Xiao Wei? Is she really the kind empath everyone knows? Or is there more to her? Perhaps a hidden back story? Perhaps a mystery only the mystery man can unveil?
