"A hundred years back, I heard that a few cultivators were talking about a village where there should be no village. A few cultivators of the group did enter the village, but they never returned. But that place was far from the sect in another kingdom. Of course, these were all things I heard and was unable to confirm." Elder Ning could only tell Kana what he had heard and had not actually been able to see with his own eyes.
"Well, I know what I saw was real, otherwise, Ako would not be in the state she is in now." Kana knew she did not dream what she saw. There was no way it was a dream. She only knew that whatever was in that village was very dangerous. She felt fear in the depths of her soul when facing that strange energy.
"I will see if I can investigate it some more as I am also interested in this village, but I can't promise I will come up with anything. For now, let's get to the main topic. The five of you will now be working together from now on. The sect master wants a group of outer disciples he can trust to do certain tasks that are outside the mission hall. Of course, you will be given proper points to compensate you for completing the missions. This was something that the sect master had been planning for a while.
"The reason he is choosing you five is because you are all friends with Kana. Kana has the potential that the cultivation world has not seen in thousands of years. But this is not to say that you four also do not have high potential. In fact, I judged each one of you personally to be fit for this not only because you are Kana's friend but because you each have your own unique abilities. Fei's archery is currently on par with even the best elf archer known. And elves are masters at archery that no other race is able to compare to.
"Zhong Liuxian has strength beyond his actual cultivation level that is close to Kana's, who is a divine beast. This is something that does not happen often, and I am sure it is probably due to your unique physique.
"Liu Na has an inheritance from the Holy Maiden herself. Her future is already set in stone. And lastly…" Elder Ning looked at Fan Sengya, who was staring at him with shining eyes anticipating the praise he was about to receive and looked the other way. "Ahem… And Fan Sengya also has some qualities…."
Fan Sengya stared at Elder Ning with eyes that were saying: "And? And!?"
"Ahem… His affection for Kana is really high, meaning he will never betray her." Elder Ning couldn't think of anything else to say concerning the young man, so he could only say it like this. He actually wanted to say that he makes a good meat shield for taking a hit for Kana in case it was needed, but he refrained from saying this.
Kana held her head and sighed. She did not like having other men being put next to her with words like affection and liking. It made her feel uncomfortable. She only had room in her heart for one man, and that was her handsome husband. That was something that would never change, no matter how many years passed or how lonely she felt. Her heart belonged to him. She had already sworn it on her very soul.
Fan Sengya, on the other hand, puffed out his chest as if Elder Ning's words were the best compliment in the world. Elder Ning could only wonder what was going on in his young man's head. "At any rate, we will be giving you missions every so often to carry out. They will not only help you with your training but also benefit the sect as well. And with that being said, I have your first mission for you. The five of you need to head out to the Temple Forest south of the Solong Mountain Range. There is a kind of herb there that the sect is lacking called frost dew grass. We need you to collect at least twenty of them."
While this mission really had no actual meaning for the reason why the sect master decided to form such a team of disciples, it was still perfect training for the five of them. It was a mission to allow them to learn to work together better.
"So we just go there to pluck some grass?" Kana asked. She was confused as to why they would send people out to pluck grass.
"Frost dew grass is not an easy herb to find, nor is it easy to harvest as it is normally located in caves and guarded by strong demonic beasts. You all will need to work with each other to find and harvest them." Elder Ning explained.
"Oh… I guess we will need to begin planning for the trip then." Kana fell into thought and wondered just what they would need for such a long trip, but only one thing came to mind, and that was the most amazing four letter word ever invented. M.E.A.T.
"I will leave you all to prepare. Notify me before you leave the sect." Elder Ning left these words, before he flew up into the air and then off towards his own courtyard.
Kana and the rest sat there lost in thought until the silence was broken by Liu Na. "We need to make sure we have enough supplies to get there and back. While we can procure food outside, we should still prepare pills for counteracting poison and healing."
"I have quite a bit of both." Feng Sengya began pulling out bottle after bottle of pills from his space pouch. He did come from a cultivation family, after all. So he was always supplied with these kinds of pills.
"We should also prepare some tents. Two at the minimum unless you guys want to sleep outside. I, for one, can not share a tent with men.." Fei normally wouldn't care about such things as she was a half elf, and the forest was her home, but she was thinking more for kana's sake to allow her to get some sleep without worrying about being rained on.
