"Ugh… I feel sick..." Kana slowly opened her eyes and looked around in a daze. Naru and Aoi were already awake, sitting next to her, leaning against her leg. "What time is it?"
"Kana, it's a little past midday." Aoi replied.
Kana let out a sigh as she sat up. She held her head, trying to remember what she did the previous day, but everything was a complete blank after she had her second mug of fruit ale. "Ugh… Aoi, Naru, what happened last night?"
"We are not sure either we were sipping your ale all night. I only remember laughing and cheering you on." Aoi answered.
"I blanked out after you set the inn on fire." Naru answered.
"Ermmm…" Kana paused, her face turning pale. "I did what and the who now?"
"You set the inn on fire and then stole a keg of fruit ale after that, I don't remember." Naru lowered his head for some reason he felt like he should not have mentioned the whole 'setting the inn on fire' thing.
"I see… Well… Ahem… Let's go buy some fishing rods and bait and a small boat. I don't think we will..."
"Ummm… excuse me…." A human girl with blonde hair walked over to Kana. "Can I ask if you are looking to go to Pleqoth?"
"Hmm?" Kana turned to look at the human girl. She looked to be more than twelve years of age which made Kana frown. "Can I ask why a little girl like you would want to go there?" Kana returned the girl's question to her.
"Ah… I… I… Need…"
"There she is! Get her!" A group of men in black clothing came out nowhere and began surrounding the little girl.
Kana looked at these men and slowly got up. She cracked her neck back and forth before looking at one of the men. "Ummm... Excuse me. But I was in the middle of the conversation with this girl here."
"Geh! Toe burner! Damn it, everyone, back off." One of the men in black yelled.
Kana frowned, hearing the weird nickname she was just called. She tried to remember why she was being called this, but nothing was coming to mind. "Errm… Can I asked why you are calling me Toe Burner?"
The man in black scratched his head and was about to explain when one of his men whispered in his ear. "Ahh, that's right too... Well, Miss, it's just that during last night's fires, you kept threatening to burn people's toes off. Since we don't know your name, we started calling you toe burner."
"I see… By fires, you mean...?" Kana had a really bad feeling. And knew she probably did not want to hear what was coming next, but she still asked.
"I mean, you set half the city on fire. Luckily only one death. Everyone else was quickly evacuated… Now then… I must ask if you can let us take this little girl away with us." The man in black asked humbly. He did not want to get on Kana's bad side.
"I see… Now for my next question: why are you chasing after this little girl?" Kana asked.
"This..." The man in black seemed troubled. He looked at his teammates for an answer, but they also seemed a bit confused about what to say. "Well… To put it simply, the old master said to bring her back so she could get ready for her wedding." The man in black figured it was best to just tell the truth.
Kana raised an eyebrow and looked at the young girl. "How old are you?"
"I just turned twelve today..." The little girl replied. Now that Kana was getting a good look at this little girl, she was well dressed and did not look like she had suffered much in her life, but she was way too young!
"Doesn't the law now state that only those aged to be or evolved to be sixteen and older can be married off? Anyone under the age of sixteen is not allowed to get married. They can be engaged but not married. She is not even a teenager yet. Look at her. She hasn't even had her period yet." Kana seemed very annoyed. She was a big advocate for marrying people you loved. Although her love came after the fact but still!
"This..." The man in black wanted to cry. They also did not want to force their young miss into marriage. "Miss... "
"Kana, just call me Kana." Kana introduced herself seeing how the man was trying to figure out what to call her.
"Then Miss Kana, can you take our miss away from here? We would rather not follow our old masters command. The man he is trying to form ties with is not a good person." The man in black asked this as he bowed deeply.
"Let me ask you this, do any of you know how to drive a boat?" Kana wanted to use a boat to cross the ocean and sail to Pleqoth.
"We all do. Miss your meaning is?" The man in black opened his eyes.
"Let's just say you had to follow your miss by boat and just so happened to have to sail all the way to Pleqoth in the process. As long as we make it you can look after your miss and not have to worry about her being forced into anything. But you must sign a contract that will make it so you will never harm her or force her to do anything against her wishes." Kana explained.
"This is easy enough but what about the ship?" The man in black asked.
"Hmm? Look at all the ships behind us. We can just take one of those." Kana turned and pointed to the massive ships behind her. She figured since she already burnt the town down while she was drunk, that she might as well steal a ship to top it all off.
"This..." The man looked at his twenty subordinates who all gave a nod and let out a sigh. "Alright then if we are going to steal a ship we might as well steal the best!"
