5 Starting my Life as Alyssa

Days have passed and my injury was healing nicely. My mother and father have been so attentive to me and I was happy to feel their love for Alyssa. I was just sad thinking that their real daughter has already passed away.

I was in my room this afternoon. Because I am still amnesiac, my parents have cancelled the home tutor that was assigned to me. The doctor advised that I familiarize myself with family and close relatives first before engaging with other people. My parents have started orienting me with this world. And so far I got the gits of it.

Because I don't have anything to do in my room, I wanted to make a plan for Alyssa's impending future which is also my future right now. I took a paper and pen from my desk and started to write. And from these four, three are supporting male leads and one true male lead who will be the love interest of the female lead.

I am sure that Eric is the male lead that was the duke's son. I just knew days ago that he was going to be adopted by my father. I still don't know the whole story, but what I know is the original Alyssa was a real b*tch to Eric.

I was curious who was it so I stood up to see. But when I was about to open the door, it opened abruptly and I was caught by surprise that I got out of balance. When I braced myself from falling, waiting to feel the pain in my butt, I felt someone pulled me by the hand and caught me in their arms.

"I-I am sorry." I heard a familiar voice. When I looked up I saw the dark haired blue eyed boy embracing me.

"Brother Eric, it's you." I smiled brightly. "Thank you for catching me before falling on the ground. Was it you who knocked?" I asked.

Judging by his looks now, he will be very handsome in the future. He got the trade mark appearance of the Broderick family. I remember that one of the original Alyssa's sentiments was Eric's physical features that resembles her father's and let her and her mother think he was an illegitimate son of the duke.

I didn't really know why the original Alyssa got fussy with Eric's looks. She was practically the most beautiful girl her age, with her long silver hair and amethyst eyes. For sure many men will court her in the future.

"What can I help you with?" I asked politely.

Eric was still not used to me being 'good' to him and he was still a little bit guarded towards me. But I am sure with hard work, I will destroy that wall he built against me.

"The duke had asked me to be your tutor for the mean time." Eric said without looking at me. I felt it was a little rude but I can't blame him. The original Alyssa has been much ruder to him before.

"Really brother Eric, you will be my tutor?" I looked at him with innocent eyes.

"You agree?" Eric looked at me in surprise. I think he was expecting for me to refuse vehemently.

"Why not? You are my big brother, right?" I said with a smile. "I also heard from the maids that you were a genius. That you excel in both academics and swordsmanship for boys in your age."

"T-That... that was just maid's gossip. You shouldn't believe them." Eric looked away but he was blushing even further.

"But I think that brother Eric is strong and smart. I will boast to others that I have you as a big brother who is both smart and strong." I smiled brightly.

"T-That... I am not yet officially adopted into the Broderick house." Eric said shyly.

"But you are older than me. And you are like a brother to me. So even of you are not yet officially adopted, you are still an older brother to me." I smiled.

"I-If that's what you wish to call me then do so." Eric said. "Anyways, I have brought books in math and science. Do you wish to study here in your room or in the library?" He asked.

I remembered that I wasn't able to put away the paper I was writing a while ago.

"Let's go to the library." I replied. "I want a change of scenery. I have been cooped up inside my room for days."

"Okay." Eric nodded.

"Can you wait for me for a while. I will get my paper and pen inside." I said.

"Sure." Eric replied.

I quickly paced my way towards my desk and put the paper I have written on inside my desk drawer. I took some blank paper and pen and ran back towards Eric who was waiting outside my door.

"I have it. Let's go big brother." I grabbed his hand and held it like what a little sister would do with her older brother.
