6 The Royal Academy

Months have gone by since I woke up as Alyssa. By this time I have studied the history, culture and everything to know about this world.

I have to thank Eric for all of the knowledge I have thus far. He is a great tutor considering his age. Our relationship right now is what I will call luke warm I guess. He has not been cold to me these past few months but still he has his defense up against me.

"Tell me about the royal academy brother Eric." I made a cute face and I see Eric blush a little.

"So you mean father is a man of power." I said knowing that this is what Eric really meant. "But big brother, aren't you going to enrol in the royal academy once you turn twelve? You will be the one to inherit the ducal house after father so you will be the one representing our family in the royal academy. Do I really still need to study there?" I pouted my lips.

I cannot see the importance of me studying in the royal academy. As I know father adopted Eric to be his successor and heir to the ducal house because I am a girl that cannot inherit it. Even if Eric wasn't here, my father would search for a suitable husband and son in law to take the Broderick name and become the duke.

"W-What are you talking about." Eric stood up abruptly, the chair he was sitting on fell down on the ground. His face was red in anger. "Do you still think that I will rob you of your parents and the title!"

I was speechless from what I have heard from him and was rather shocked. "E-Eric... brother Eric calm down. You misunderstood me."

"I will tell you for the last time that I have no intentions of stealing anything from you! I have declined your father's proposal to adopt me." Eric fumed. "I am not your father's b*stard son! I am the son of my father and also he was your father's cousin from the branch family!"

Eric dashed outside the library door with a bang.

"Wait Eric, you misunderstand!" I tried to yell at him but he was out of my sight in no time. "Ahhh Alyssa, now you have done it!" I yelled in irritation.

I never meant for Eric to think like that. I was only trying my best to think of a way not to enrol in the royal academy but he misunderstood everything I said.

"He is rather sensitive." I sighed. "Well he is still a young kid, I can't blame him."
