Dr Hari was a lonely wretched old man with no worldly desires. Ira had even built a special lab only for him. It occupied the entire seventh floor of her Company as O research laboratory. It was to be known that he was the director, leader and only member of the team.
He lived in the lab itself. It included a sterilization room, pharmacology lab, the pathology, the cell study, the bacteria study, a storage room with drugs, a washroom, and lounge/Dr. Hari's room. He was known to work all alone in the huge laboratory with no helpers.
Being one of the prominent figures of the country, one who researched and formulated medications on cancer one for the treatment and other for the pain the person, he was known to many. He was notorious for his high temper.
A single man with no wife and kids. As time would have predicted, his end was near. He had died when she was 32, so he had a few more years to live. This man was 92 but with exceptional vigour worked day and night tirelessly.
For the sake of science, he didn't care about anything. He agreed to work with Ira when she gave him limitless resources, his laboratory and freedom of choice.
After convincing Mr Peter and signing the contract, Ira drove to her Company.
She pressed the red button 'seventh floor' on the elevator. Not everyone was allowed to stop at the floor.
Her fingerprints and password were required to open the door.
When she walked in, she saw the man mixing some chemicals. His white curly hair and thick beard which was often unshaved, he looked messy as if he just has gotten up from sleep. Huge special oval glasses and baggy pants with a huge jacket made him look broke.
After his last invention, she gave him so much money that he could do a world tour. But this man loved this place so much that he never went out. Even it was she who took care of his food, or he would have starved. Ira had a delivery service specially made with a trusted organization. Not many who worked in the Company for years had seen his face.
She tried calling him but he, as usual, didn't answer.
"Drip.. drip" in a pin drop silence only the sound of drops falling in titration sounded.
So slow she entered in small steps. Dr Hari saw her but ignored her. He walked back and forth doing his work, and Ira followed him.
"What do you want?" He asked in irritation.
"Doctor, what happened to your hair?"
"Yesterday, it got burned." His messy hair had one spot roughed and uneven ends.
"Why didn't you cut..." She forgot the original intention after seeing his hair.
"Do you have something, Miss?" He asked in irritation. After all, he hated disturbance of any kind.
"Dr Hari, don't you feel lonely?" she smiled.
"I'm sorry. I'm not interested in you," he said with a blank face.
"Huh. ... I'm married." she flinched a step back.
"Ha.. ha..." He laughed at her face and got buried in his work.
"I say, Doctor. You are awesome. You got so much knowledge, Don't you need someone to take your teachings to another level."
"You want to work under me?" He turned around and looked at Ira. Although his face remained calm but excited reeked from his eyes. The formula he had to break his head and think was solved quickly by Ira.
Hence he had this misconception that Ira was a genius. Little did he know that this girl stole his work, imagine how he would react.
