192 not a filial daughter

Reeya stood up and with spiritless eyes asked, "Why didn't you tell me?" Her tone had anger and grief.

"Amma forbade us. You had your life. Ma had her own. It was only now when we were helpless that I called you. Your Uncle doesn't know about it yet." The words tore her heart.

"Your uncle is a normal worker. We couldn't afford her treatment." She said and left in a hurry.Her steps were messy somewhat shaky.

Her word held truth. Aunt treated grandma with respect. She was her mother-in-law, the elderly in the house.

"Cough...cough" A weak gasping came from behind her. Reeya got to her Grandmother and held her weak hand. A cold sensation stirred her. She didn't know what to do.

After a crazy bout of cough, Amma seemed to have calmed down. All the while she held grandma's, cold palm.

"Amma, I am here. You will get well soon." She bowed her head and kissed her forehead. A drop of tear landed on it.

It was a wonder she still had tears to cry.She though her tear glands have stopped working.

Reeya had hurt this person's heart. Grandma hid this big thing from her. Was she still angry with her?

She was eighteen when she left home, those years she called and visited grandma during weekends.

One day she announced her decision to join the firefighting group. That day not only her uncle, aunt but her Grandma was furious. Giving them no right to interfere in her life, she made the decision. Since that time Uncle never talked to her.

The profession of a firefighter was opposed by her family. They didn't contact the defiant, not a filial daughter.

Grandma would contact her behind their backs. Whenever she called grandma would always pressure her to change her job or tell her to be alert about Victor.
