Chapter 24 - Potion

Cyril let his Aunt enter the room. It seems that he made her worry.

He didn't think that he would interrupt the lady's sleep at this time. Anyway, there is no point worrying about it now as he decided to talk with her instead.

For sure, she has many questions for him.

"Ehem… Cy, happy birthday!" Bonnie greeted the young man.

The latter was a bit confused at first but he immediately smiled after…

"Thank you, Auntie… Right, I just completed the Awakening process a while ago… I'm already Awakened!"

Cyril replied in appreciation. Instead of waiting for her to ask, he decided to tell her about his situation instead.

He knows that her Aunt doesn't want to ask him these kinds of things. She would just show that she's always there beside him and help him whenever he needed.

"Congratulations! I'm just a light sleeper since I'm already getting old, so I woke up after noticing the fluctuation of your Aura. Right, would you mind sharing your Rank? You'll know it when you exposed your Aura…"

A centimeter of Aura around the body means that your talent as Awakened is only at F-Rank… An inch means E-Rank and 2 inches means D-Rank… This is the low-class Aura of the Awakened.

On the other hand, the mid-class Awakened or the C-Rank and B-Rank would be at 5 inches and 7 inches of aura consecutively.

Then, the A-Rank Awakened would have their aura at 8 inches…

'Hmm… Should I reveal it to Aunt Bonnie?'

At first, Cyril has no issue revealing it to her since he was expecting to only awaken at D to B rank…

However, if she learned that he would be the first known S-Rank of the country, it might not be good for her.

After all, though he is suspecting that the strongest guilds at the present have S-Rank Awakened, they weren't being shown to the public yet so the people only know that A-Rank Awakened is their best Arcane Explorer at the moment.

It would create much trouble for him if his existence were leaked to the public.

Aside from that, he is only planning to visit and register himself as an Awakened after 20 days or before September 20 since he wanted to participate in one of the government projects.**

"Hmm… I'm at B-Rank, Aunt Bonnie…" Cyril lied. He then heard the demon behind him chuckling.

He ignored him for now as looked at his aunt's delighted expression.

"I knew it! You're really talented!" Bonnie exclaimed happily and even hugged him a little.

He felt a little guilty but this is also for her sake. A family of an S-Rank Awakened might get harassed by the media or guild recruiters. He doesn't want that to happen to her.

On the other hand, a B-Rank Awakened may garner attention but it would not be as big as someone who Awakened at S-Rank.

After his aunt calmed down, he finally managed to urge her to continue her sleep… As for him, he felt a bit hungry after doing all of this so he decided to heat the leftover food in their last dinner to fill his stomach.

Then, he finally started concocting potions…

It is not that hard to make these potions. As a matter of fact, he just needed some boiling water together with his Aura to make one.

For now, he decided to make 20 lesser healing potions. Its effectivity can last for three months or so depending on the power of his Aura and the quality of the lifelace flowers he extracted from the plants.

Cyril then brought out the boxes containing various ingredients that were needed for the potion.

They have been lying there for a while now and they can finally be used today. These ingredients were in well-preserved conditions placed in small jars and bottles.

There are powdered Canyon Ivy, pieces of Sword Skunk Brier, petals of Winter Swine Roses, a jar of Sunberry Seeds, and bottles of Blood Ink Thistle's essence…

These supplementary ingredients together with the Lifelace Flower would be enough to make the potion.

The method is quite straightforward as he just has to boil all those ingredients into the water. After doing this, Cyril can just put the lifelace flower in the container or potion bottle and pour the boiled water into it…

Since this is a "lesser" potion, it wasn't surprising that it has easy steps to follow.

Anyway, it will be up to his control in his Aura to bring out the essence of the main ingredient to the liquid and make it a healing potion.

This last part of the task is a bit time-consuming as he expects it to take about 8-10 minutes in each potion.

It's not a matter of his control as he can't really hasten the pace. It is to avoid having the lifelace flower damaged. During the process, the flower can't be burned by the boiling water inside the bottle or the concoction itself will fail.

He has to wait until the water has cooled down before he can remove his Aura… It is a simple task but it requires patience and good control of your Aura…

This is what Cyril did for a few hours until he managed to make a total of 22 potions. It is more than what he expected as he miscalculated the water he used to boil the ingredients.

"I did it! Haha! Twenty-two potions… It's finally time to earn money!" Cyril happily exclaimed.

He then noticed that the sun is already getting high so he decided to keep the potions in his bag and changed his clothes to look a bit respectable.

Right now, he wanted to visit a few people who would need the potion… If he failed to sell them to these rich guys, he will consider going to the black market instead.

However, before he could leave, his aunt came out of her room bringing something covered by an old cloth.

His Aunt Bonnie just smiled at him and revealed the artifacts left by her late husband.
