Chapter 103 - The Experts

Cyril noticed that Lucien and the four men behind him don't seem to be convinced that he knows more about elves than them.

If he would make a guess, Director Staub probably exaggerated his description of him.

"Ugh… Well, creating two types of Elven Runes in such a short amount of time is already impressive…" Cyril replied as he looked at the books in front of him.

They are currently in a special room where the Elven Runes are being studied. The books were the ones given by the third princess on his first visit.

They are the eight Elementary Rune Creation Books.

These elementary books should be able to teach them level 1 to 3 runes which are considered as a basic level among the elves. Of course, for mortals like them, there is a huge chasm separating the level 2 and level 3 runes… though only Cyril knows about it at the moment.

Anyway, he can see several wood and stones where they carved the Elven Runes to practice with…

"May I know where are you having trouble with?" Cyril asked.

Lucien obliged as he opened one of the books… Apparently, there are over 30 types of level 2 Runes in the book that the elves had provided to them.

"We only learned how to create the Fire Rune and Strength Rune. We seemed to have reached our limit since after making them, we can no longer create other runes for some unknown reason. We also discovered that there are many level-1 Runes that we're also unable to make. Can you check the book in case we missed something? We want to make sure that we didn't misinterpret the rune creation techniques of the elves."

Lucien calmly explained.

However, Cyril noticed that the man actually left a lot of important details. Lucien didn't mention anything about the failure consequences, runes destruction, or side effects whenever failing to create a level-2 rune…

This is really important but Lucien just said that they can't make it "due to some unknown reason."

Nevertheless, he didn't think too much of it and decided to see what they've understand about the Elven Runes.

He decided to read the books…

About two hours had passed as Cyril and the five experts discussed and shared their opinions based on how they understood the instructions written in the book.

"Oh~ You guys are actually better than I expected." Cyril praised Lucien and his team.

Apparently, they have managed to understand over 60% of the book after only giving them a few references or about the Elven Language before.

With their previous knowledge added by some of his teachings before, the team performed really well and he can only praise their efforts.

Without his Universal Linguistic Skill, he would never be able to reach their level at all.

"So you're saying that we can still improve a bit more but we are still limited caused by our race?"

"Yes… Based on what we've studied, we can probably study the common level-2 Runes… However, the complicated ones are impossible. Let's not even talk about the level-3 Runes. The solution I could think of is to change your race. Since I will be going inside, we can ask the princess whether they have a method to convert you guys… Want to come with me?"

Cyril asked the team in front of him.

He was only joking at the last part of his words but surprisingly, their faces are actually considering it for real!

'Hey! Would you abandon your humanity if you're really given a chance to become an elf?'

Cyril wanted to scold them but he decided not to. Anyway, it's not even guaranteed that there is a method to change race.

At this point, he thought of asking the one who knows everything.

'Hey Xagan, is there a way to change race? I mean from human to elf? Tell me how to do it…'

'There is a way, Contractor… For the method on how to convert, that is worth 930 days, Contractor…'

'Whoa~ So expensive?'

Cyril was surprised at the price. After all, he's only asking for the method and not asking to be converted already. Anyway, it only means that the method is top-secret or perhaps, it involves the principle of the Arcane World where Xagan's power is greatly limited.

Anyway, he decided to leave it at that…

"Alright, I want to ask the Elves there if I can truly convert!" Lucien announced with enthusiasm.

With these words, the other four no longer hesitated.

"Great! Let's all go together."

"Right, I will join you, leader."

"I heard that elves can live a long life… M-maybe I can try…"

"As long as it will help us as a Runesmith, I will do everything."

Cyril didn't think that his joke would be taken seriously by these madmen… Their previous contempt for him was no more as they started looking at him as if he's their savior.

"Eh? Are you guys serious?" Cyril couldn't help but ask…

"Yes… Let's get inside now… We are also to give them another batch of Holy Artifacts anyway."

Lucien said as he lead everyone to where the Entrance Crystal is.

Soon, Cyril found himself walking to Ylmashara Town of the Elves.

From the previous cold attitude of the elves, it had now completely changed and they seem to be looking at them with an affectionate gaze!

'Is this the effect of the Blessed and Holy Artifacts that were sent to them? I wonder what they used them for…'

Cyril mused as he entered the village. This time, they weren't surrounded by guards like they are criminals and were brought to the reception hall.

They were told that the princess is already preparing to meet them.

"So, it's Commander Druindar, it's been a while."

Cyril greeted the person who received them. Druindar Balhorn is the captain of the Black Arrow Brigade and he met this elf during his first visit here.

"So it's you, Cyril Vermont." Druindar greeted back as he looked at the other people behind him.

He thought that he would only be able to speak with Cyril again, but surprisingly, the four men behind him greeted him with elven language.. Although they weren't as fluent as Cyril, it was still very heart-warming to see another race trying to learn their language.
