AMYLL'S POV:-
It has been a year since I was brought into this world. The days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months as if everything passed by in a blink. What did I do all this time? Nothing! Nothing at all. All we did was to run and hide from people we didn't even know were coming for us. What are you even trying to achieve here? Every time I try to ask them what we are doing, they ask me to be quiet and run or else they will leave me behind.
Judging from their expressions, they will really leave me behind. There are 5 of them in front of me. Other than 3 who are the last ones from the previous generation, we also have two more people who came into this world like me. They are Beastmen…their family, along with other people who came into this world, were caught by some beings that I couldn't even see. They didn't look back or anything, just kept quiet and kept running as if nothing happened.
'Just what are we trying to achieve here,' I thought as I see no purpose in running and hiding in this world.
"What the f*ck is this supposed to be? What we are doing is running and running from here to there and from there to here. Just how many times have we changed locations in the past few months?" One of the Beastmen shouts at that Marcel guy and looks furiously at him.
'He has been with us for the past few weeks, if I am not wrong,' I think as I understand completely what is going through his brain right now. He must be really exhausted by all this. If I were not a Dark Fairy, my brain and body, which is especially made for torture handling given the nature of my mana, even I would have not been able to have this much patience.
"Well, you can run, right? With no mana. Can you tell me how exactly you are not getting tired at all, even after running all this time?" Marcel spoke as he looked at that Beastman.
'Huh? He is right…that thought never crossed my mind. How come I was never tired even after continuously running. Is it one of the strange phenomena of this place? At least that's what I thought at first before, not thinking about it at all. Is there anything else to it?' I wonder as I look at Marcel as he begins to explain it to that Beastman.
"In this world, mana does appear from the outside, but because of those chains attached to our body, we can't use it. But…there is another energy that exists in this world other than mana and that's called…" he speaks as he looks at the Beastman and the Beastman responds,"..Divinity."
His eyes widen as realization stirs within him. Even I am stupefied by this conjecture…you can attain divinity by staying in its presence?
"Well, this was a theory formed by our previous leader. He used to say that the divinity which is converted by the mana that comes into this world is in more of an infant state. That means it can be used by anyone and even made yours too. If we bathe enough in this fetal divinity, we might be able to attain a certain amount of divinity to fight back against the Gods too. It might not be enough to fight a God who has absorbed tons of divinity through the course of time, but it might be enough to at least destroy this place and hope to escape from here," he looks at us before looking behind us and then speaking,
"We need to run."
And we all begin to run immediately. We don't look back and keep running in the direction where the trio were leading us. It is going to be an infinite cycle of running and hiding. It is going to keep us at bay from the Gods until we can fight back. A sure way to go against them? I don't know. Heck, I don't even know if it will work or not, but it's one of the things we can actually do and that makes me feel a bit more motivated than I was in the past year of running and hiding. My eyes then turn at that person who was shouting at Marcel. He is really quiet right now, but his eyes seem different from before. He is no more tired and has a slight fire in his eyes as he follows Marcel.
But…just what caused the deaths of their Leader I wonder. Just what could have happened to expose someone like them who are such experts in hiding and escaping? If they are like this, then their leader must be much smarter and capable than them, capable enough to lead them. If that was the case then, how come they were caught? Their previous stories do not match at all. I wonder what had happened back then and….how come they are still alive right now.
If what we are running from is so strong that we need to run even before they could see us, just how come they are alive even after getting caught?
As I was looking at them, I suddenly felt a bad premonition . Something bad is about to happen. My instincts are tingling…
"They have caught up to us." Adrin, one of the three survivors, speaks as he stops and then looks in front. A stone man then drops from the sky and falls in front of us.
"Finally found the rats," the stone man says as he looks at us with a creepy smile on his face. He seems really happy about catching us.
"Hey! Don't catch my prey," another stone man comes from behind us and speaks with an irritated expression as he looks at the first stone man.
"Guardians," Marcel speaks with a serious expression as he looks at those stone men.
