Chapter 162 - Defeat

"Let's give you the test of the sun." Lilith smirked while sending the fireball she condensed forward.

Even though he had felt the heat surpassing his magma ball, the salamander still attacked it. His pride didn't allow him to back down.

The two giant balls clashed with each other. The heat from those two balls spread to the area, burning the grasses and melting the soils.

This was Lilith's 9-Star Spell. Its might wasn't something that could be stopped by a mere magma ball.

"Gah!" The salamander screamed in pain, feeling the powerful heat from Lilith's fireball.

It was clear Lilith's strength was stronger than him, but due to him being the strongest in the previous era, he still thought he was the strongest in the current era.

Unfortunately, that pride was nothing but a weapon for Lilith as the latter chose to escape from the heat instead of taking the full brunt like him.

"You are a coward!" The salamander shouted, looking down on Lilith.

Lilith tilted her head in confusion. No matter what he said, he looked like a fool in Lilith's eyes.

'Have I overestimated my enemy?' Lilith thought while furrowing her eyebrows. 'Still, 9-Star Spell is hard to use. They require a huge amount of time to prepare…'

On the one hand, his foolishness allowed Lilith to injure him with a 9-Star Spell. On the other hand, she feared the salamander would learn from his mistakes and become even stronger.

'I can't waste too much time, I guess.' Lilith's expression turned serious as she clasped her hand and raised them upward.

A huge red-colored magic circle appeared above them. Then, a big stone fell out of the magic circle and struck the salamander's head.

With the salamander having trouble with the heat from earlier, he had no way to avoid this rock. His head ended up getting slammed to the ground.

After that, Lilith immediately utilized various spells to injure the salamander even more.

"Argh! You bitch!"

Lilith frowned and impaled both his hands and feet with sharp, huge rocks. They looked like bolts, making it harder for the salamander to free himself.

When she saw the salamander struggle by swaying his body left and right, she knew her plans had worked. The salamander couldn't escape from the bolts that had pinned him to the ground.

She then released another few spells to give more wounds to the salamander's body. After all, her plan was to have a conversation with him.

If she could understand the salamander's language, there was no need for those injuries. But Albert needed to be the translator, so this was necessary.

"What are you doing?!"

"Stop!"

"You're a coward."

"No!"

The salamander continued wailing in pain. All the words coming out of his mouth were filled with either pride or pain.

It took the salamander a long fifteen minutes before the salamander stopped struggling. His eyes were still glaring at her, but he seemed to be a bit more docile.

"What do you want, woman?"

"You're just lucky to trap me."

The salamander spewed a few more words, but Lilith could feel he had lost his will to fight.

Suddenly, Lilith disappeared from his eyes, confusing him.

He wondered what Lilith planned to do and turned his head around, finding Albert flying far away from them.

"That guy! He must be the reason why I'm in this predicament. How dare he plot against this king!" The salamander's anger erupted once again, but because of the injuries, his body couldn't move anymore.

When Lilith returned with Albert, the salamander immediately opened his mouth to attack Albert with his fire breath.

Lilith had seen this through and protected him with the magic circle that had been absorbing his breath this whole time.

"Move away!" The salamander shouted in anger. The person that trapped him was right in front of him, so he wanted Lilith not to stop him from taking his revenge.

Albert maintained his calm and shouted, "That's enough. I'm here not to fight you."

"Not to fight me? You trapped me in that room!"

"That was because you wanted to kill me. It was self-defense."

"I only wanted you to be my subordinate. But you betrayed me."

"I didn't want to and still don't want to be your subordinate. It's not like you're the strongest anymore." Albert snorted. "Admit it. Your strength is below her."

The salamander gritted his teeth, refusing to answer. Although their clash was short, he could clearly feel Lilith's superior strength.

"Anyway, I'm here to talk." Albert let out a long sigh while standing behind Lilith. "I can only say your strength is not the strongest anymore. There are more than twenty people stronger than you. Even I don't know the exact number."

"What did you say? I'm the strongest!"

"No, you are not. She is just one of the kings out of seven Demon Kingdoms. In pure strength alone, the other seven kings are above her. Then, there are Human Kingdoms too, along with their strongest people.

"Just admit it, your era is over. The new era is stronger than the previous era." Albert told the truth with a mocking tone.

The salamander couldn't say anything to Albert's remark. After all, if what he said was true, that meant his rule would be over. There was no way he could accept that.

"So, she has a proposal for you," said Albert while looking at Lilith, wondering what she had to say.

Lilith whispered a few things to him, confusing the salamander. As much as he wanted to shout again, he wouldn't do anything foolish when he recognized someone to be stronger than him, even with the hatred burning in his heart.

"Your strength is strong, but your temper is bad. Submit to me. I'll show you the current era and allow you to fight another strong opponent. I'll show you that your strength is not at the pinnacle anymore.

"And if you still wish to be at the pinnacle, I'll give you the power of the new era," said Albert, transmitting all the words she told him.

However, this provoked the salamander's anger to the point he couldn't contain it anymore.

"What did you say? You want me, the Fire King, to submit to someone?!"
