136 The bow of Arjuna

The orcs had a muscular frame with dark green skin as two canines that resembled small tusks. They were tied and Benedict could see the wounds on their bodies that were certainly inflicted by their captors.

Just like Arrora, they were drugged to make them unconscious so they would struggle less but the drug was not enough to subdue the orcs as some of them opened their eyes and looked at the people with hostility.

Amara was unable to hide her feeling of disgust towards the orcs on her face but she quickly turned her gaze away from them and started the bid

"My lords, I don't think that I need to tell you about the orcs. They are strong, not so dumb like their cousins' goblins and "

Amara had to think more about the orcs but she couldn't come up with any more uses of having an orc as she quickly stated the initial bid

"The initial bid for these orcs is surprisingly two hundred thousand low life energy stones"

Benedict saw many useless items like ancient spears and robes going for a lot more stones but the orcs had been auctioned for a relatively cheap price.

The appearance of orcs prevented the young misses from bidding as many major powers didn't seem interested in buying the orcs.

"Three hundred thousand"

"Three hundred and fifty"

"Four hundred"

After a not so competing bidding, Benedict got the orcs for six hundred stones as most of the people started to look at him as a spoiled man looking to expand his collection by wasting the money on the orcs. And the fact he bought a rusty old pipe made him look like a wastrel.

The orcs were dragged back as another box appeared beside Amara to auction next.

After selling the orcs, everyone was given a little break before continuing the auction. Gael enjoyed the break with the snacks provided by the auction house while Benedict and Riya passed the break in silence.

And after the break, Amara came to the stage with the box and without wasting any time she removed the cloth covering the box and everyone saw a long golden bow etched with many engraving.

"My lords, this bow is a really special one. It was found by a couple of miners when they were looking for gold deposits but here's what's interesting, our experts couldn't determine its age or even which age it belongs to"

Unlike before, everyone seemed very interested and intrigued looking at the bow, even Benedict wanted to examine the bow closer.

"The only thing our experts were able to find is its name, the bow of Arjuna"

No one had any ideas about the person Arjuna but they wanted to hear more about the bow's specialties as Amara started to state those

"The most frustrating, life-threatening thing of using a bow is what?"

Amara looked at the crowd when she asked the question

"Missing the target, that's what separates an amateur from an expert but with this bow, you don't have to worry about missing the target, my lords. Because this bow has the power to lock onto its mark if the mark is in the bow's range"

Locking onto its target meant with this bow, the arrow fired from this bow could never miss its target in a certain range. That would make anyone with this bow a deadly predator. And while everyone was murmuring about the bow, someone from the VIP room asked Amara

"It's too good to be true Miss, please tell us about the catch?"

And when she looked at the room, Amara realized they were from the Lansor, the school of Archery. And just as they asked, the bow did have a catch and Amara was not told to hide it as she smiled and said

"My lord, the catch is,it'll take a toll on its user. Every time the user fires an arrow,it'll put a strain on the user's magical core but if you limit the shots, you're completely safe and honestly, the bow's special ability outweighs this small hurdle"

It was quite usual to have this kind of drawbacks when it's come to ancient items and just like she said, the good of the bow outweighs the bad

"The starting bid for the bow of Arjuna is, two hundred medium life energy stones"

"Three hundred"

"Four hundred"

"Six hundred"

The bidding for the bow was going crazy as every single one in the VIP room started to bid for the bow as Benedict waited for Don's answer

"Buy it, I want this"

It was too good an item to let go because Don had no magical core for the bow to put a strain on and this bow seemed like it was tailor-made for him.

"Seven hundred"

The auction for the bow went from medium quality life energy stones to high-quality life energy stones as many of them backed away from the auction since they had to save money for the ancient keys which were far more valuable than one item

"Lansor, school of Archery needs this bow, my lord. You will earn our favor if you let go of this item"

It was directed towards Benedict because only he was bidding for the bow with Lansor. However, Benedict couldn't back away from bidding due to Don's interest in the bow

"Don, do you really want to go against them?"

"I want that bow"

Usually, Don would avoid clashing with these kinds of people but he really wanted this bow and besides, he could teleport Benedict away the moment he stepped out from the auction house if something goes wrong.

"Apologizes my lord, my employer really wants that bow"

Benedict said as he kept bidding for the bow until Lansor finally backed away but Benedict had a really bad feeling about buying the bow that Lansor wanted

"Sold to the lord with the number four"

After the bow, the auction continued with many items and nothing piqued the interest of Don or Benedict.

"My lords, this is the moment you all are waiting for"

As she said, the guards brought the ancient key with an energy barrier around it.

"My lords, I don't want to waste your time by explaining the benefits as you all know about the dungeon so let's move directly into the bidding. The starting bid for this key is eight hundred medium quality life energy stones and each bid must be more than the previous by the hundred thousand"

"Nine hundred thousand"

"Fifty thousand high quality"

"Hundred thousand high quality"

It was a great decision of Don to sell the keys because after this auction, he would be the richest king among the rank 4 kings and he wouldn't have to worry about wealth for a long time.

"We are so RICH!"

Gael couldn't hold his excitement hearing the bids as he was bouncing around the room in joy as Benedict and Riya were totally in shock.

After getting the stones, Don decided to exchange some of it for gold coins and silver coins since the things he needed to develop his kingdoms required only the standard coins rather than magical stones. Besides, spending magical stones instead of the standard coins on common materials would raise the suspicion of many people which could bring some troubles to his doorstep.

"Benedict send Gael to buy the oath takers and space rings now, the moment the auction ends, take the wealth, hire the security service and go to Arya's home directly"

Don went to many auctions so he knew how things work around this place and hearing his voice, Benedict quickly sent Gael to buy the oath takers and space rings

"Cold Moon Palace will be in your debt if you let us buy this key my lords"

"Two hundred"

Everyone shocked to see someone from the crowd bidding for the key against Cold Moon Palace

"Three hundred, you from the crowd back off"

"Three hundred and fifty"

However, the man from the crowd didn't back off as he had been told by the Cold Moon Palace

"Don, is that our man?"

"Yes"

"My lord, if you don't have the stones it would be a crime against the auction rules and punishable by death "

Amara couldn't believe a common man sitting with the crowd has this much of wealth as she reminded the man with a smile

"Four hundred"

The man sent by Don didn't answer Amara as he continued to bid

"My friend, which family do you belong to?"

"That's none of your business, my lady"

The man's answer shocked the crowd even more as no one disrespected someone from the Cold Moon Palace.

"I hope they are equal to the Cold Moon Palace in terms of power, my friend"

The lady from the Cold Moon Palace didn't hide her killing aura that targeted towards the man

"How're things going? Here"

While the bidding war was happening, Gael returned to the room and gave a space ring to Benedict

"The space rings, the items we bought and the oath takers are inside, the manager said you can pay for these after the auction"

Benedict opened the space ring and made sure that everything is inside and when he looked at the bidding, he saw the Cold Moon Palace finally buying the key for a humongous amount of wealth.

The amount the Cold Moon Palace spent in this auction alone would be enough to run a rank 3 kingdom for a year at least. The Cold Moon Palace had power, wealth that equal to a rank 1 kingdom so if Everlight wanted to mess with the Cold Moon Palace, they had to be ready. And because of this, the Cold Moon Palace bullied and destroyed so many lesser kingdoms as well as many lesser kingdoms with its power.

Since Don was trying to conquer every kingdom and unify the world under one banner, he knew that the sects like Cold Moon Palace and families like Ariel would stand in his way. However, if Don wanted to destroy those mega powers, he had to keep his head down and grow his and his kingdom's strength in the shadow before making any big moves.
