266 Lakewood Academy and House Moonwin

Hearing Knight, the smile on Martian's face disappeared as he sighed.

"Of course I hate that guy David but my junior sister Tilly loves him and betrothed to him, so if you had killed him, you would have not only made yourself a powerful enemy out of Moonwin, you would have also broken my junior sister's heart"

As he said, he gestured at Knight and Lia to walk into the tunnels to search for more treasures.

"Since you're new here, David, you may have not known the tension between House Moonwin and other great houses, they need an alley"

"So if your junior sister married him, Lakewood will be their ally, are you sure that Dexter really is in love with your junior sister?"

In Knight's mind, this marriage thing seemed more like strategized by the Leaders of Housemoonwin rather than based on true love. He had seen his fair share of forced and planned marriages for the sake of a sect's reputation or wellbeing as the Elders and old people tend not to think about whether the girl or boy likes their soon to be life partner, they often gave them no choice.

Martian took another deep breath and revealed a hard smile

"I can only hope the best for her, David"

He understood Knight as he too had the same doubt but he knew that he can't change Tilly's heart.

"How did you find me?"

"It's a funny thing, Father actually said that you'll get into trouble and told me to keep an eye on you, hehe. Just like he said, you did try to kill Dexter, and I assume the dead guys in the stone room was your handy work"

"I told them to get out but they insisted on robbing me and Mia, you know the rest"

"So Mia is your"

Martian dragged out the sentence but everyone knew that he's asking her whether she's his girlfriend or not.

"She's my friend, I brought her here to help her get some real world experience"

"I understand, David"

Martian slightly nudged his elbow and revealed a bad boy grin as Knight smiled and shook his head.

"So David, you want to come with us or search the tomb alone because I'm getting a serious lone wolf vibe from you?"

"What happened to keep an eye on me?"

"Just pretend I'm watching you and try not to kill Dexter, if push comes to shove, just beat him to near-death. Although House Moonwin is powerful, I seriously doubt they have the reach to find you in the Avelon Continent"

Knight halted his steps as he was surprised by Martian

"Of course I knew David, I remember all the prodigies in whole Evelon continent including the rogue ones but you, my friend, is not on my list, so you obviously came from the other three continents, thus I took a guess and looking at your surprised look, it seems like I'm right"

"Well you got me there and you're also right about me being a lone wolf"

Looking at Martian and his friends, he chuckled as he nodded. Although he had already obtained quite a harvest, he had yet to find the life shard which was the sole purpose of his trip here. If he was unable to find it, he wouldn't be able to bring Don back from death.

As for grouping up with Martian and the rest, he was somewhat reluctant in his heart. Perhaps, Martian was a nice guy and seemed friendly, he could not travel with them since they might slow him down and get in his way again.

Martian was also rather clever, when he heard Knight, he knew that the latter didn't like to travel in a group. Thus, he could only softly sigh as he said: "Since you are determined to do this alone, go ahead. But try to keep in my what I said"

Knight slightly smiled as he nodded his head. He waved his hand at Martian and his friends, before starting to walk away from them. Nearby, Lia also quickly gave a small nod as she stepped on the black sword. Together, they transformed into a bolt of lightning as they directly rushed towards the passageway leading to the deeper part of the old tomb.

"Why are you so nice to him?" As he gazed at Knight's leaving figure, one youth behind Martian could not help but ask in a low voice.

"Its something called making friends, Rick, a powerful one"

"What do you mean Mart?"

Martian turned his head and patted Rick on the shoulder as he said

"My father believes that in a few years, David will be a major player in the world of cultivation, my father hasn't been wrong yet and he's not going to start now"

Knight and Lia knew nothing of Martian's conversation. After he entered that passageway, the scene before him widened once again as an extremely spacious area appeared before his eyes. This huge area was filled with numerous gigantic wooden poles, and these poles seemed to soar towards the sky as they stood close together, creating numerous paths lined with wooden poles that curved and twined. No one knew where these paths led to.

They were also taken aback by this sudden change in scenery. As he took a couple of steps forward, he discovered that there were some brownish limb-like objects on the ground. He picked one up and inspected it, it seemed to be a human's broken limb, however, this broken limb was bigger than a normal human limb and was remarkably heavy. Evidently, it was cast from high-quality metal and mud-like substance, and on the surface of the broken limb, there seemed to be some mysterious symbols.

"This is a Golem. Some cultivators like to create them for entertainment. They can also be used to guard houses" While he was staring in a daze at this thing, Lia's voice sounded near him.

"Golem…" he mumbled to himself as he remembered the fight he, Arrora, and Don had with them inside the Ancient dungeon.

The broken limb from a Golem in your hand is likely a defective product"

"You seem like you know more about Golems?"

He tossed away the broken limb and asked Lia

"Yes, I learned about them a bit and there are some special great sects that know much more about Golems and specialize in controlling Golems. Rumors have it that there exist some Golems that could rip apart a Peak Heavenly level mage in a few seconds "

"Ripping apart a Peak Heavenly level…" Upon hearing these words, his brain became fascinated and recalled the powerful aura he sensed at the scroll building.

He pondered about this for a time but was still stood by his decision not to go upstairs and mess with that Golem. He could only let out a bitter laugh as he shook his head. This world was indeed strange and wondrous.

"Let's take the left path. There seem to be some fluctuations there." he was clearly not very interested in these broken Golem parts, thus, he pointed at a path and started to walk towards it.

"Okay."

Lia nodded her head before quietly following him behind.

Swiftly sweeping into peculiar wooden pole formation, he found more broken Golem limbs along the way. Furthermore, there were also traces of a fight, indicating that someone had done battle with the Golems in this area.

As they traveled, they also encountered some Golems, however, when Lia saw these exasperatingly slow and rigid guys, she finally understood why there were broken limbs all over the area. These kind of Golems were really too shabby, besides their huge body and strength, they seemed to be reduced into target practice dummies.

After casually destroying a few Golems, Knight lost interest as he once again stepped on his black sword with Lia and dashed forward.

However, while they moved at full speed, they followed the wooden pathways for over a dozen minutes, yet, there seemed to be no exit to the path before their eyes.

"Something seems wrong"

His expression was serious and he felt that they seemed to be going in circles. Moreover, while they traveled, they did not encounter anyone else, if it were not for the traces of a fight that remained, he would believe that they were the only ones here.

"This seems to be some kind of formation…" Lia also sensed that something was wrong. She looked around as her eyes swept across the surroundings before she helplessly said

"Young Master, I think we stumbled upon annoying formations"

"What should we do now?" Knight scratched his chin. They could not possibly continue this way right? Sooner or later, they would end up dead from fatigue. If it was a door, he could simply brute force or destroy it using his overwhelming strength but he had zero knowledge in Life Energy formations. Yet, Lia looked at him like she was expecting him to break the formation with a wave of his hands

"Why are you looking at me like that? I don't know anything about these formations"

"Really?"

In Lia's eyes, he was a genius who could do anything but after thinking that he can't possibly be a fighter and a runemaster at the same time, she nodded and started to check out the wooden poles.

" Although I am not very adept at formations, the wooden pole formation should not be too hard." Lia spread out her hands before she closed her eyes. Following, a layer of silver light spread outwards from her and enveloped the area

This scene lasted for a moment before she once again opened her eyes as she pointed forward.

"Young Master, walk a hundred steps to your left"

Hearing this, he was skeptical as he walked a hundred steps to his left just like she said. But after finding that there was still no exit before him, he spread his arms out and asked: "What now?"

" Use your hand to push the sixth wooden pole to your left," Lia replied.

"Oh?"

Knight was stunned for a while, soon after, a flash of realization hit him. It turned out that the true road was not to his front, but at the sides. The path before him was nothing more than an illusion.

When he recalled that he had actually followed the path for such a long time, he could not help but sigh. He pushed towards the sixth wooden pole.

"Rumble!"

As he pushed, the wall of wooden poles before him suddenly moved, and a path appeared in front of him.

"Such a troublesome mechanism"

He mumbled under his breath as he strolled forward. Many wooden poles still formed the walls here, however, after his previous experience, he was no longer irritated. After once again pushing open several pathways with the help of Lia, a spacious drilling field appeared before his eyes.
