Chapter 64:Cha[ter 8: The Approval

Dana Alepou's POV

I should have known that Silas Agnes was a rich person. I mean, he drove Lamborghini last night and today it was a red Ferrari. Who would be blind to say that he was poor? Not me then.

I was looking at the front door before we were inside the house.

I was not in awe because it was something that I used to right now. Growing up, my father would always bring me here and we would play, me and Jay. It was something that we have done before and looking those memories right now in this living room…

Wait a minute, I know this house. Don't tell me it was….

"Ah, son. You have come back and you brought…guest?" I heard my lawyer's voice that was coming from the other side of the living room. I turned to look at Mr. Agnes as I was surprised to see that he was here and he called Silas his son.

So, that means…

"Father, I have brought my fiancée home. This is Dana Alepou, my future wife," Silas said as Mr. Agnes was looking at me. He was shocked as I would with him that having a son. Why don't I know about this?

"How do you do?" I said as I was playing as if I don't know Silas' father. He nodded at me as if he was telling me that we will be talking in private later.

"Well, have a seat and I will call your mother to meet your fiancée," Mr. Agnes said as I was sitting on the sofa with Silas was holding my hand as I was smiling at him. Mr. Agnes was out of the room and I felt like the tension eased a bit.

"You don't tell me that your father was Mr. Simon Agnes," I said as I was looking at Silas. He arched his eyebrow at me.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, he's a big deal in the law firm and I think he was the lawyer for a big company,"

"Ah yes, the Alepou Trade Inc. I think was the name," Silas said as he was kissing my knuckles before the old couple was coming inside the living room. I stood up as I saw Silas' mother before I was smiling at her.

"Ah, finally. My prayer has been answered and you are in front of me right now," the older woman said as she was hugging me. It was awkward, well at least for me. I was smiling at the old woman before we took our seats.

"So, this is Dana, everyone. I have proposed to her last night and fortunately, she said yes to me. I am the luckiest man on the world right now," Silas said as he was gripping my hands. I saw that Mr. Agnes was narrowing his eyes at me. I gulped as Silas was smiling right now.

"Ah, the tea is here. I hope you don't mind tea, dear. It was calming for my husband," Silas' mum said as I was nodding.

"It's fine. I like tea," I said as I was releasing my hands from Silas' hands as I was looking around. I took a deep breath before I was serving tea.

"Here, let me help you," I said as I was taking the pot and I was pouring the tea and handing them over as I was smiling around the table. We talked about me and what we planned to do after this. I was smiling but I know that Mr. Agnes will be talking with me sooner or later.

I know why he was nervous. He knows about our family secret. His son was not.

"If you don't mind, I wanted to talk with my future daughter in law alone for a moment. Would you mind, son?" Mr. Agnes asked as Silas was shaking his head.

"Sure, but remember to return her to me, father," Silas joked before I was standing and Mr. Agnes was smiling at his son.

"Of course, I don't have any intention to keep her for myself. Your mother will kill me," Mr. Agnes said before his wife was slapping him playfully.

"Did he know?" He started the conversation as I was looking at him. I know what Mr. Agnes was trying to ask. Did Silas know that I was a shifter?

"No," I said as he sighed deeply. Okay, I don't know if that was the best or worst response that I can get from Mr. Agnes right now. I think I just got through his defense that he always put up whenever he was around us, me and Jay.

"Look, Dana, I know that you might think that this was something to be laughing about but I don't want my son to be involved with your world," Mr. Agnes said as he was looking at me. His hazel eyes were gleaming as if he was nervous or something.

Like I will kill his son or something.

"Mr. Agnes, I don't think you would think that I would—"

"No, of course not. But I was afraid that Silas will not be enough for you if you married someone that was not—"

"Was not what, Mr. Agnes? Spit it out," I said impatiently before he sighed. He shook his head before he was looking at me.

"Someone that was not your caliber," he said as I was narrowing my eyes at him.

"What do you mean by that? What was that supposed to mean? 'Caliber'? You mean my mate?" I hissed at him before he stepped back from me. I think he was afraid of me as if I was my father's daughter.

Well, I'm not like my father, using fear for his dirty deeds.

"Look, Mr. Agnes, I respect you. I respect your family but if you think I was not good enough for Silas then I will ask him to call off the engagement," I said as I was looking at Mr. Agnes before he sighed in relief. Well, I think I have my answer then.

"What do you mean you want to call off the engagement?" Silas' voice was filling the hallway as I was looking in the direction of that voice. Silas was looking at me and his father as if I was doing something stupid.

"Dana, what do you mean by that?" Silas asked me as he was coming to us. I was looking at Mr. Agnes as he was pleading me with his eyes. I sighed. I know that Mr. Agnes did not want to be involved with my family as he was the lawyer for our company.

But not with the marriage in the family.

I sighed as I was straightening my back and I turned to look at my fiancé that I know deep down was my true mate. But not that I should tell his father of Silas' real meaning to me.

Even if it will make me go crazy without him by my side.

"Silas, I don't think I can do this. You're loaded and I'm…me. I cannot do this, I'm sorry," I said as I was pulling the ring and I put it in his hand. He was stunned before I was running down the hall and went out of the house. I don't think I wanted to be here now.

I was running up to the gates before I was running toward the forest. Fuck it! I will run in the forest in my real form as if nothing can stop me now. If I cannot have Silas, then I will die.

I was running as if my life was depending on it and when I was at the center of the forest, I was changing into my fox. She whined before I was running through the forest. I was crying but my eyes were looking straight around me.

I have to be aware as if my life depends on me but as soon as I lose focus, I was doomed. And I don't think I can say that 'I Love You' to Silas anymore.

Because I was trapped and I can do nothing about it right now. I was in a trap that was set up by the hunter. It was a common knowledge that my species was being killed on the island to keep our population small but right now, with my heart's breaking, I have no will to live anymore.

Not with Silas will be married to someone else other than me.
