(A/N: This chapter is written from a third person narrative.)
It was the usual noisy classroom as there was no teacher present. Students were roaming around talking with each other while some were playing games inside the classroom. It was showing 10.50 am on the wall clock that was placed above the white board.
The windows were open and the frequent chilly breeze would graze inside, as it was the season of autumn. Trees were shedding their leaves, and it was a calm atmosphere all around.
Shiraishi was sitting on her chair the opposite way, as she could be seen talking with a girl who was writing something in a notebook. Shiraishi was talking to Moriko as she was doing her homework.
"So you asked him out?" Moriko shifted her blue eyes up from the notebook and glanced at Shiraishi. A wide smile formed on her face as she nodded her head in affirmation and replied in an excited tone, "He said Yes!"
The sound of Moriko tapping the tip of her pencil on the desk came to an abrupt stop as it broke, and she tilted her head with a look of surprise on her face. Her lips curved into a smile as she asked, "Ho…? You didn't force him?"
Shiraishi rested her chin on the back of her palms as it puffed out her cheeks. With a frown on her face, she complained, "Rude much? Why would I?"
"I don't know Suzuha… you seem to be obsessed with him." Moriko replied vaguely as she inserted another lead in her pencil and proceeded to scribble on the last page of her notebook.
"Well, of course, that's not the case." Shiraishi replied, tapping the desk with her hand as it didn't seem to bother Moriko, who was diligently doing her homework.
Moriko was a rather comfortable person to be around. Despite her strong vibes. She was friends with almost everyone in the class and was a rather chill person to hang out with. She was mostly infamous for being friends with Shiraishi, but that didn't bother her at all.
Moriko herself was a rather cute girl with short blonde hair and eyes, as blue as the ocean. Even though winter was approaching, she was still wearing a half sleeve shirt.
Quite a lot of boys had a crush on her, but most of them were too afraid to approach her because of her serious persona. And some were already aware of the possibility of her having a boyfriend.
Shiraishi's eyes were fixated on the figure of Moriko, who seemed to be struggling with her homework. Moriko clicked her tongue as she looked up at her and said, "Is that so…"
A brief moment of silence fell between them, as only the sound of Moriko scribbling on the notebook could be heard. Both of them seemed rather absorbed in their own world, as the surrounding noise didn't seem to bother them at all.
"Then… Why did you break up with Shig like that?" Moriko said, chuckling as Shiraishi looked at her with evident confusion in her face and asked, "Like what?"
Moriko took out a scrap of paper from her desk and crumpled it between her fist. Looking up at Shiraishi, she said, showing the ball of paper, "Like someone throws trash in a dustbin."
"Well, that's a terrible way to put it." There was a look of shock on her face as the metaphorical resemblance made a slight sense of guilt wash over her. Looking at her face, Moriko replied plainly, "Not really… I mean it sounds bad but it is what it is."
"Ada-cchin… don't be so cold." Shiraishi said, peeking at her eyes which were fixed on her notebook. Moriko stopped writing and glanced towards the window before replying, "Winter's coming."
Shiraishi wasn't delighted with her sense of humour at all as she narrowed her eyes and shook her head sarcastically, "No shit!"
She let out a chuckle at her reaction. Shiraishi's eyes shifted towards Shig who happened to pass by their desk. Moriko followed her gaze and noticed him too, but Shig didn't bat an eye towards either of them and kept walking.
"So you were never interested in Shig, right?" Moriko asked as he passed by. That question seemed to interest Shiraishi as she looked at Moriko with curious eyes and started, "I mean… he seemed interesting at the start."
"Then… what happened?" She asked, even though Moriko knew pretty well how the relationship between Shig and Shiraishi progressed. Shiraishi gave her a vague shrug and said, "Well, I got to know him. And it turned out that he was rather boring."
"Wow… it must be tough to get a good boyfriend nowadays." Moriko said in a serious tone, looking at the distasteful expression on Shiraishi's face even though the sarcasm in that statement bounced off her head and she replied with a sigh, "Tell me about it!"
Moriko looked down towards her notebook and rolled eyes in annoyance. She again started writing, and asked, "So, where is your new boyfriend?"
A smile formed on her face as her eyes moved diagonally upwards and she pretended to be thinking about something before replying with a bored tone, "Oh… he must be in a lab or something. He is always so serious."
"Does he even smile?" Moriko asked Shiraishi as she chuckled, covering her mouth as she recalled the moments she had with him and replied, "He does get embarrassed though and it's pretty funny to see."
Moriko's eyes shifted at her and this time there was pure confusion on her face. Raising her eyebrow, she asked hesitantly, "Isn't he kind of… you know…?"
"What?" Shiraishi tilted her head in confusion as her hesitation seemed quite out of place. With narrowed eyes and a frown, Moriko asked, "Bland?"
"Of course not! His blandness makes me want to explore him more." Shiraishi said, with a proud expression on her face. Moriko gave her an annoyed look and stated, "That's weird considering you dumped a dude for being boring."
Those words didn't please Shiraishi at all.. She narrowed her eyes, and her lips formed a rather dubious smile as she said in an indifferent tone, "Come on… don't bring that in."
