Yasurouka's POV
He was wearing a maroon coloured shirt, folded up to his muscular forearms, and the top two buttons near his chest were left open. His hair was also highlighted blonde in some spots. He was giving off delinquent vibes.
As I was looking at him, I made sure that he wouldn't catch me checking him out but as I gazed towards his eyes; it seemed like he was staring at me. He noticed me looking at his direction and shifted his eyes really discreetly. It made me a bit uncomfortable.
"Ah, this is the boy you keep talking about." I heard Koi's voice.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Kizhashi Koi," she introduced herself in a cheerful tone. He also added, "Yeah, I've heard Haruka-kun talking about you sometimes."
"Haruka-kun?" Kizhashi said in confusion.
"Haru-kun?" Uyeno slowly turned her head towards Haruka with an expression that made the colour flow out of his face. And it made sense because she was his girlfriend, and no girlfriend would want their partner to talk about any other girl in their absence.
Haruka was quite the calm minded player on the field but in front of his girlfriend, it was a different story. I looked at Haruka as there was a mixture of embarrassment and anxiety on his face. It was the moment he knew he messed up.
"No, it's nothing of that sort, Uyeno. Relax." Catching onto her expression, Haruka instantly explained himself.
"Hmmm…" But it seems like his expression helped little. Her gazes shifted towards Koi for an instant and then on to her boyfriend.
"Could it be that Haru-kun is double timing?" Isobe said this at the worst time possible. We knew she was joking, but it was not the proper place to crack a joke like that.
"Ahh… he could be." Kichirou nodded with a grin on his face. Well, I can tell that they are close friends.
"Of course not. Do I look like that kind of guy?" Haruka showed his hands to us as a timeout gesture.
"You do." Kichirou nodded with no second doubts. If someone's eye could speak, then Haruka's were saying several words at that moment.
"I don't know what kind of impression you guys have of me." He sighed.
"Not a good one, that I can tell." I said, because I wanted to have some fun too.
"That's sure." Kichirou answered, chuckling.
"Shall we continue, then?" Haruka said to distract us from this topic.
"Ah, let's talk along the way." Uyeno followed his lead, and that joke ended there. Though it was a joke, I can tell that someone is going to get in trouble once this plan ends.
I see what this plan actually was. It was like a triple date or something. That's why they wanted Gai-kun to come. Since he cancelled, I had to take his place, though I'm certain that I'm the unwanted one here. I was again the weed here.
We were sitting in the karaoke room, and the AC was blasting. I was sitting next to Koi and in front of us, on the other side of the table, Haruka and Kichirou were sitting next to each other and their girlfriends were sitting next to them.
I feel so awkward here, and Isobe and her boyfriend are a bit too close to each other, even in front of others. Well, they could have booked a hotel room then. I don't like the atmosphere at all.
The handbags they were carrying were lying on the wooden table in front of us. Haruka was talking over the phone to order some food while Koi was going through the tablet to pick a song to sing.
Uyeno was singing a song, and unfortunately her voice was great. The sound of her soft, toned voice was reverberating in the room. Isobe and Kichirou were holding each other's hand, and she was leaning her head on his shoulder.
I was looking around when the sight of Haruka looking in my direction caught my attention. Though it was for a split second, he shifted his eyes towards Uyeno. She was definitely immersed in singing because she was paying no attention to us.
But why did Haruka look at me? Kichirou was staring at me, too. Does my outfit appear weird on me? I mean, Koi said it was looking good but maybe she said that because I was her friend and she will like me in whatever attire I wear.
Uyeno finished singing and everyone clapped for her. She put the mic down with a blush on her face. I didn't expect her to be good at singing, considering her bitchy voice.
"That was amazing Uyeno." Haruka said as he advanced his right towards her for a high five, which she returned.
"I know right. Her voice has always been good." Isobe said, with a smile on her face.
"Why? Did she learn to sing or something?"
"Ah… no no, Kichirou-kun. I just sing sometimes as a hobby. Nothing more than that." Uyeno smiled shyly while looking at him. Is she being genuine here or just trying to appear cute?
"Alright! It's my turn." Koi said with much energy in her voice. Everyone looked at her with anticipation as she stood with the mic near her lips.
"Looks like she is a wonderful singer too." Kichirou commented as on her face, there was much confidence that would make anyone think that way.
"Oh, just wait and see." I said with a smirk.
"What?" He looked at me with oblivion.
"You'll see." I gave a vague answer because I don't want to be that person who ruins the fun.
"What's with that evil smile on your face?" He narrowed his suspicions.
"That's just how my face is." I replied.
"Quite the evil face." He said, and there was a small peal of laughter among everyone.
"That's rude." I smiled and shook my head jokingly.
"Here I go." Koi announced the start of her concert. This is a concert I would pay to leave to be honest. The music of the song started playing and her head started nodding at the beats.
As the vocals started and Koi started singing along, I could see the changes on everyone's faces as they went from excited to shocked. These are some of those moments in life when you realise that being bad at something has a different definition than what you have in your mind.
Haruka looked at her as his mouth was open in awe, then looked at me. I just nodded my head to affirm his astonishment. Uyeno and Isobe were lost, too.
