It was the morning of 16th September and I woke up early somehow. It was still 5 am, as I could hear the faint sounds of birds chirping outside and the shimmering glow of sunlight entering my room through the curtains.
Next to my bed, Lilith was sound asleep on her futon. I was also stressed because my sister was coming to visit me today. And knowing how she is, there is always a probability that she would stay with me too
And if she decides to visit the apartment, then I would be in a lot of trouble because only there was a girl in my room, I'm living with her, too. She will surely get the wrong idea.
After I disconnected the call that day, I went back to my room and asked Lilith if she can still make her visible to specific people or not, but it seems like she can't do it at the moment.
I was in a pinch, but I could do nothing except for hoping that Nee-chan doesn't actually visit my home. As I was immersed in my thoughts, I didn't notice Lilith was awake, staring at me.
"This is too early for you to wake up." My eyes shifted towards her, as I said in a low voice.
"I could say the same to you." She replied in a hoarse voice, which was heavier than her usual tone. She just woke up, that's why she is sounding so different.
"Well… touché." I shrugged as I was at a loss for words.
Coming out from under her cover, she sat up on the futon and yawned, stretching her arms like a cat. Her messy silver hairs falling in front of her face, as she tucked them behind her ear and stared at me for a few moments before asking, "Why are you so concerned about your sister?"
Seems like she was reading my mind in that instant. In my usual blunt tone, I denied, "I'm not."
She narrowed her eyes again, "Yes, you're… ever since she called you."
But it was true that I was acting a bit restless ever since Nee-chan called me, but it was entirely because I didn't know how to explain to her about a certain individual sitting in front of me with sleepy eyes.
"Dumbass… I'm actually concerned about something else."
"About what?" She probed me, as I answered with a sigh, "About you."
There was a sudden silence between us as both of us were staring at each other. After what seemed like a minute of processing, a huge smug formed on her face as she said, "Oh… are you embarrassed that you live alone with a girl?"
"Don't make this any more awkward for me."
"Well… you're worrying too much…" She said in a rather casual tone, but she wasn't aware of my major concern as I specified, "If she visits me and sees that I'm living with a girl… she'll get the wrong idea."
"...and if things settle into that, I'll go somewhere for the while she stays, okay?" Looking at worried composure, Lilith added.
I looked at her with a slight smile, "That sounds like a plan to me."
"It's my idea after all!" With a smile, she nodded and asked, "But why are you stressed about it?"
"Huh?" I looked at her in confusion, and she was looking at me with a curious look. Well, of course it wasn't her fault that she doesn't why I'm acting like this. I have never told her about these things.
"See… you don't understand this…" I said, and she instantly replied with a question of her own,"Isn't it normal for a teenage boy to be attracted to the opposite gender?"
"It is… but you know… sometimes the context matters too."
"Eh? What context?"
"You're not understanding this…"
"Because you can't explain it correctly!" She complained and both of our voices were rising with each argument.
"Shut up." A continuous loop of argument went on, and as expected, none of us arrived at a certain conclusion and neither of us won the argument. The only thing it did to us was that we talked a lot early in the morning and now both of us were pissed and wide awake.
In the midst of our early morning rant, I didn't even notice the time. It was almost time for me to get ready for school. Running my hands through my hair, I stretched and stood up from the bed.
I walked out of the room and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. As I returned to the room, I noticed Lilith still sitting on her futon, looking curiously at me. I narrowed my eyes at her, but she just tilted her head as if she didn't get what I meant.
"I need to get ready for school." I said, opening the wardrobe and taking out my PE uniform. As today was the sports festival, PE uniform was a must for all students.
Taking off my t-shirt, I picked up the bottle of deodorant right in front of me. Spraying it over my chest, I turned around to look at Lilith, who, by no surprise, was still sitting with a wide smug on her face as her eyes were locked on me.
I narrowed my eyes at her, and she replied with a sarcastic tone, "Then do so."
Pointing towards the door of my room with my right hand, I ordered, "Get out!"
With a pout, she stood up and sighed. Walking towards the door slowly, to make it more dramatic, she slowly looked at me and said, "Ah… my bad."
Putting on my t-shirt, I looked at her as she was about to leave, and asked, "You were trying to tease me, weren't you? For yesterday?"
Quickly averting her eyes, which were piercing through me a few moments ago, a nervous smile formed on her face as she replied, "Eheh… I don't know what you mean."
Throwing my PE jacket onto the bed, I rolled my eyes at her, "Oh… it's written on your silly face…"
"Huh… What a paranoid boy." With a smug smile, she shook her head from left to right.
"Well… you're living with a literal Devi, paranoid doesn't seem bad."
She was about to say something, but finding herself at a loss for words, she just nodded slightly, "Hmm… okay you have a point."
"Anyways… get the fu…" I was about to curse the hell out of her, but she slammed the door shut, and her voice came from behind, "Hai Hai!"
