"What does she want now?" Wade murmured when he heard Reuben give Mathew the permission to allow Helen Gu into his office.
Reuben got up from his seat and went to his desk.
He then came back and passed Wade the file containing the layout for the gaming arena that he had asked Helen to design.
"What's this?" Wade was confused looking at it.
"It's the new side project that I've been working on. A gaming arena." Reuben explained which made Wayne to quickly snatch it away from Wade and check it out.
"Who designed this? It's all wrong!" Wayne remarked when he saw the design.
"Junior Gu designed it." Reuben disclosed and Wayne gave him an understanding smile.
"Is that why you agreed to meet her at that restaurant so easily?" Wayne wiggled his brows and Reuben grimaced.
"And I deeply regret it! Not only did this cause a scandal but also these designs are not up to my standards." He shook his head in disappointment.
"That's exactly what happens when you get too greedy!" Wade mocked him and Wayne chuckled.
"It looks more like a karaoke bar than a console room!" Wayne expressed his irritation when he saw how the room was designed.
The console rooms that would have the huge TV looked more like a room with a mini stage where people could perform.
The room was supposed to give off a cozy hangout vibe but this gave a girls' night out vibe.
Wade knew nothing about this stuff so he just kept his mouth shut and watched the two gaming enthusiasts discuss what was wrong with the designs.
After a few minutes, Mathew Kim arrived with Helen Gu following after him.
--
Usually, Helen could just waltz into Ming Enterprise and no one would stop her because she was regularly contracted to work for the company.
However, today she was stopped at the reception and asked to wait until she received permission from the top floor.
This particular order came from Mathew Kim because he was sure that Helen would show up today for whatever reason and he wasn't wrong.
He did not want his Emperor to be any more irritated than he already was so he instructed the receptionist to notify him when Miss Gu arrives and then ask her to wait.
So the receptionist gave her an awkward smile when she asked Helen to wait until she received the approval from the boss' assistant.
Helen was fuming on the inside but she did not let it show on her face because she had a pretense to uphold so she sweetly smiled at the receptionist and agreed to wait down here.
The receptionist liked Helen because she was very sweet and humble. So she hoped that their boss would officially announce their relationship to the media after this whole paparazzi fiasco.
As Helen waited in the reception area, many employees who did not know that the online posts had already been taken down on Reuben's command, greeted her subserviently as they assumed that she might be their lady boss in the near future.
Helen knew that this might be because of the pictures circulating online but she just regarded them as a blessing in disguise that would help her in getting closer to Reuben.
She had come all dressed to meet him today to talk about her designs for his latest project.
Also, she wanted to apologize for startling him by confessing so suddenly.
After going home she had mulled over what exactly could have caused him to react so strongly and had realized that she was too impatient last night.
She might have come on too strong and maybe this had scared him away.
So she specifically wore a white thigh-length bodycon dress with a deep neck and white high heels to give off a good impression on him.
In a few minutes, the receptionist had approached her, and respectfully asked her to go upstairs to the top floor.
Helen strode off with her head held high when she saw the other employees peeking at her and whispering to each other.
Soon she reached the top floor and found that Asst Kim was waiting for her by the elevator.
As she stood outside Reuben's door, she adjusted her dress to make the neck a little lower and pasted a wide dazzling smile on her face.
'Like a little cleavage is going to help you out.' Mathew rolled his eyes when he saw her action just now.
She then signaled to Mathew that she was ready to enter the room so Mathew knocked on the door and entered with her following after him.
But Mathew quickly bowed his head and left after he brought her inside.
'I am not going to stand here to witness his wrath and get caught in the crossfires.' Mathew walked at a fast pace after he excused himself.
When Helen had entered Reuben's office, the wide smile on her face froze.
She had come here expecting to spend some alone time with him in the disguise of reviewing the project but that seemed like an impossible task because they were already two extra busybodies in the room with her Reuben.
"Hello, Seniors Luo and Senior Ming." Even though she was vexed, she smiled at them and greeted them respectfully.
Reuben and Wade just nodded when they heard her.
"Hey..! Long time no see!" Wayne cheerfully waved at her and gestured for her to take a seat on the couch.
'This guy is better than a chameleon! He was just badmouthing her designs and now he's acting all nice to her.' Reuben shook his head while looking at Wayne.
Wayne quickly signaled Wade to get up and invited Helen to sit in his spot.
She readily accepted this offer because that place was exactly opposite to Reuben's and after setting her bag on the table she gracefully sat down.
*Prrr…*
All the grace and elegance went put the window and her face strained when the moment she sat down, the couch made a strange noise and the three men stared at her with their eyes wide open.
Wayne placed his palm over his mouth as he gasped in surprise.
"Is your tummy alright, Junior sister?" He then asked in a concerned voice which made Helen's face turn a dark shade of red because of her embarrassment.
'Asshole!' Both Wade and Reuben thought the same thing as they watched Wayne's flawless acting.
He had deliberately asked Wade to give his fart noise seat to Helen and then acted like he was completely oblivious to the mischief that he had plotted.
"Umm… No. It must be the couch." Helen hurriedly tried to explain and smiled awkwardly.
'This stupid couch is making me look bad in front of Reuben!' Her nails pierced her palm as she clenched her fists.
"Sure.. sure…" Wayne mumbled and at this point, both Wade and Reuben were so close to laughing out loud.
To stop his mischief from going any further, Reuben finally spoke up.
"What brings you here?" He blankly asked her and stared at her face.
"Actually... I just wanted to talk to you about something important in PRIVATE." She emphasized the last word to state her purpose for coming here.
She looked at the twins hoping for them to take the hint and leave the room.
But they just looked back at her innocently as if they had not understood the meaning behind her words.
"You can just say whatever you have to say in front of them." Reuben shrugged his shoulders and motioned her to speak.
'I can't talk about our relationship in front of these two. Let's talk about something else.' Helen planned and then opened her mouth.
"I wanted to speak to you regarding the project that we will be handling together. That was why I wished to speak in private." She justified the words she had said earlier.
"If that is your reason for speaking in private, then they have absolutely no reason to leave the room," Reuben said in an uninterested manner.
"Oh… So you must have told them about your latest project." Helen nodded her head in understanding.
"That is true." Reuben agreed with her and she blushed for having guessed his mind accurately.
"But mainly because you are not going to be handling that project anymore." He continued lazily as he tapped his long finger on her file.
