Chapter 201 - A Severely Sprained Ankle

Wayne anxiously stood by Jeanette's side as the nurse entered the hospital room that they were allotted.

Jeanette looked up and caught sight of the man watching her with such care that it melted her heart in an instant.

'I did not know that he was so worried about my injury.' She observed and an overwhelming joy took over her entire being.

"Miss, can you let me take a look at your ID?" The nurse's stern voice woke her up from her reverie.

She fished her ID card from her purse and handed it over to the senior nurse who seemed to be in her late fifties.

'I'm glad that it's an old lady or else Brother Wayne would surely hit on a young and pretty nurse!' She gritted her teeth while thinking of his womanizing ways.

She was well aware of his long list of ex-girlfriends which only made her more determined to be the last one on that list.

'I will make him realize that I am the only woman who can keep him happy!' She proclaimed in her heart and vowed to work hard towards it.

In the meanwhile, the nurse filled out the details in the patient inquiry form and handed the ID card back to her.

She then turned to the next page and cleared her throat to get their attention back on her.

"These are some routine questions that I need the answers for before the doctor can come in for a check-up." She relayed and got a quick and brief nod from Jeanette.

The nurse did not waste much time and got right to work.

"The reason for your visit to our hospital?"

"I fell and twisted my ankle."

"Any signs of fever or dizziness?"

"Not that I remember."

"Nauseousness or lack of appetite?"

"No?"

Jeanette's brows furrowed with every passing question.

"When was your last period?" The nurse looked Jeanette dead in the eyes and interrogated, ignoring the sudden blush that had emerged on her face.

'What the hell is she asking about!? Right in front of brother Wayne!' She cried out in utter embarrassment that apparently the nurse did not sympathize with or relate with.

"I have other patients too, Miss. Please answer the question!" The nurse urged her to answer the question.

Jeanette sneakily glimpsed at Wayne who immediately looked away to spare her from feeling embarrassed all over again.

Not finding any way to get out of answering this question, she decided to muster her courage and get it over with.

"It isn't that time yet." She muttered in the softest voice but it successfully managed to reach the nurse's ears.

"Have you been sexually active recently?" The nurse threw another question her way which made Jeanette completely redden.

"What!?" She exclaimed in horror to which the nurse just clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"Have you had sex recently?" She reiterated her question to help the seemingly dull woman understand better.

'Poor man has to deal with this dull headed woman.' The nurse glanced at Wayne and then looked back at her questionnaire.

Jeanette gritted her teeth when she witnessed the nurse flashing Wayne a look of sympathy and distress.

Wayne was amused when he caught the look that the nurse had sent his way and then his eyes traveled to the woman sitting on the bed with her lips pouted.

He simply gave her an encouraging smile and then looked away.

The nurse's cough brought Jeanette's attention back on her and this time she was pissed off at these intrusive questions.

"No, I have not had sex recently. I still am a virgin!" She declared with a proud look on her face.

After this, she turned towards Wayne and saw his stunned face which made her blush further.

The nurse gave her a half-hearted nod and then put an X on the questionnaire.

"Okay. If that is the case then I won't schedule you for a pregnancy test." She disclosed and then placed the sheets on the desk by the bed.

Jeanette's jaw dropped when she heard this and her cheeks looked as though they had just been painted red.

"W-why? Why would you even think about that!? I came here for a twisted ankle! Not for a pregnancy test!" She yelled out, forgetting about the man still standing next to her.

Wayne was startled to see her sudden outburst which in turn made Jeanette's eyes get teary for losing control of her emotions.

He panicked when he noticed the tears swirling around her eyes and took her hands in his.

"It's fine, Jen. I'm sure that the nice nurse lady has a perfectly valid explanation for asking those questions. Right?" He tried to calm her down and then peeked at the nurse for some help.

The nurse was charmed by his sweet smile and decided to help the poor guy out.

Sighing in defeat, she raised her hand and pointed at their hands which were still held together.

"I see couples here all the time and about 95% of them are here because they are pregnant and don't even know it." She shook her head, disappointed at how casually the present generation treated sex.

'Most of them end up in an abortion as well.' She lamented the lives lost due to the carelessness of these youngsters.

Wayne's hand which was holding onto Jeanette's was hastily withdrawn after which he hurried to move away from her.

"Haha… You seem to have misunderstood, we aren't dating." He chuckled nervously while clearing this misgiving that the nurse had in her mind.

"But I do like older women… preferably in a nurse's uniform." He completed his sentence with a charming wink which made the old nurse blush.

"These young kids!" She disapprovingly waved her hand at him and shook her head but the faint redness on her cheeks gave her away.

Jeanette scowled looking at her crush so effortlessly flirting around when she was right there.

Wayne could feel her heated gaze aimed at his face and this made him look everywhere but at her.

Lucky for him, his phone rang right at that moment and he did not waste even a second before excusing himself from the room.

"This might take time." He gave Jeanette an apologetic smile and then winked at the nurse once again before leaving the room.

The meek smile which was on Jeanette's face vanished the moment the door was shut.

She looked at the nurse from top to bottom with a mocking smile on her face.

"You better pay more attention to your work rather than looking at my man, old lady." She sneered now revealing the true intentions in her heart that she had been trying to conceal all along.

The nurse was baffled when she saw the patient's entire demeanor shift after the man exited the room.

She did not like the way she was being glared at and hence decided to leave since her work here was done anyway.

"Please wait. The doctor will be in to see you shortly." She replied with a pure business smile and then left the room.

A few seconds later, a young man with a stethoscope and a doctor's coat entered the room.

Jeanette lazily pointed at her feet when asked about the reason for her visit to the hospital.

The doctor sat before her on a chair as he examined her briefly and then looked up at her in confusion.

"Miss, you seem to be perfectly fine. There is no problem with your ankle. Do you still feel the pain?" He asked while wondering if there was some other internal condition that was causing her to feel the pain.

"That's because there is no problem with my ankle, doctor." Jeanette cleared the doubt in his mind without any apprehensions.

To prove that she wasn't lying, she even stretched her feet out and circled her ankle a couple of times without any hesitation.

The doctor was now visibly confused about her reason for even coming to the hospital for a check-up.

Jeanette let out a soft chuckle looking at this young man's baffled face and decided to help the poor guy out.

She held her hand and then motioned with one finger to summon him closer.

The young doctor was not pleased with the way he was being treated but he did not wish to create an issue when this was just his first week at this new job.

"You don't have to bother that pretty little head of yours with the details of what had happened." She smiled when he obediently got up and came closer to her.

"All you have to do is sign on a report which says that I have a severely sprained ankle. As simple as that!" She pushed him away after she revealed exactly what she wanted from him.

The doctor staggered a few steps backward due to her push and almost crashed into the chair that he was seated on earlier.

His patience that he was exerting immensely for this rude and unruly patient had now finally run out.

"I don't know why you need a fake report, Miss but that is not something I am comfortable with." He firmly rejected her idea and glanced at the patient information sheet that the nurse had filled out.

Jeanette's sweet smile turned into a mocking and sarcastic smile when she heard his refusal. This was because she was not in the least bit worried that her plan would fail.

"I see that you have much attachment to your moral and ethical code." She snickered when she saw him ignoring her words as he filled out her forms.

"What use would those morals be if you don't have your Medical License?" She tapped her chin and smiled innocently at him.

The young man's hand which was about to sign her hospital release form froze and his head whiplashed to face her.

"So do I have your attention now?" She scoffed as her hand reached for her purse.
