"Well, that was scary!" Wayne shuddered after he hung up.
The phone call had taken much more of his time and energy than what he had expected.
Walking back towards the hospital room that he had left Jeanette and the nurse inside, he took a look at the large number of texts he had received.
When he re-entered the room, the doctor was kindly helping Jeanette stand up.
He glimpsed at the young man holding her up and then stepped forward to take his position.
The doctor did not hesitate to hand over the limping woman to the new man and gladly stepped aside.
"Make sure she keeps her feet elevated and takes these medications on time." The doctor advised in a stern voice as he handed over the prescription to Wayne.
Reading the diagnosis written on the medical report, his brows scrunched up before he gave the young doctor a quick nod.
*Grade 2 sprain of the ankle.*
'Three to four weeks worth of bed rest?' He frowned after reading the recommendation of the doctor which indicated the severity of her injury.
As his attention was focused on the medicines that were prescribed for the woman leaning on his chest, he failed to notice the silent and secretive glances that the two others in the room had shared.
'I knew that my plan would work. Look at how serious his face looks while reading my diagnosis!' Jeanette rejoiced, reveling in the care she was being showered with by her beloved crush.
"You might not want to keep her standing for too long." The doctor suggested when he saw the couple standing in the same place instead of leaving him alone.
Wayne nodded, hearing the doctor's serious words and steadily supported her as he led her away.
The moment the door was shut after they left, the young doctor slumped onto the chair and held onto his head.
"I never want to meet that woman ever again!" He groaned after yanking the tie off his neck.
He cursed his luck for even picking up this patient's file and entering this room.
"I almost got my license revoked because of this arrogant young missy's plots!" He lamented when thinking of the threat that she had made.
Jeanette's threats weren't as empty as he had thought them to be.
"Who would have thought that her uncle has such a high post in the medical board association of this hospital?" He shook his head when remembering the phone call she had made to the said important man.
Within seconds, his job and his future as a doctor were put in jeopardy and all of this was because she wanted to impress a man?
Not wanting to stay inside the room where he had broken his own moral and ethical code, the young doctor raised his defeated body and strode out of the room.
'I hope no one knows that the entire report is fake and that she is as fit as a fiddle.' He prayed while moving to the smoking area because he desperately needed a break.

Wayne safely drove Jeanette to the Liang family house and then opened the door for her when they reached their destination.
The servants rushed out and were sent into fits of panic when they saw their little miss being led towards the house by a man while she had a weird limp as she moved.
The reason for their panic wasn't their care and worry for her health and wellbeing but rather it was fear and anxiety for what their master would do when he heard that his lovely daughter had hurt herself.
Thinking of the kind man who almost becomes psychotic when it came to his daughter, the head butler cursed his luck because he knew that he was the one who would have to make the phone call to inform their master about this mishap.
While the servants were still panicking, Wayne handed Jeanette over to the butler and decided to take his leave.
"Please come inside for a drink, Brother Wayne." Jeanette politely invited him.
However, Wayne had no intention of accepting her proposal because he had already received a ton of angry messages from his Uncle Ace for missing a meeting after lunch.
If he did not leave immediately, then Ace would not hesitate to skin him alive.
"I still have a meeting to attend…" He answered with an apologetic smile before getting inside his car.
Jeanette limped her way towards his car and looked at him as though she wished to say something but was hesitating.
"What is it?" Wayne encouraged her to speak up when he saw her worried face.
"Please don't blame your sister for what happened. She wasn't at fault there. I tripped and fell on my own." She looked down at the ground while muttering those words in Lina's favor.
Wayne's brows rose in surprise when he heard her words but quickly reverted to a calm face.
"You are very kind, Jen. However, I know exactly what happened." He refused to accept her kind words with a shake of his head.
Jeanette simply gave him a weak nod and a wry smile as she stepped away from the car, allowing him to start the engine and drive away.
As the car drove away from her house, Jeanette's wry smile which was formed in his presence instantly vanished and now in its place was an insidious smirk.
'Now let's see how that woman, Lina will make Brother Wayne believe that she is innocent.' She sneered as everything was going according to her plan.
She shrugged away the butler's hand which was supporting her and then limped her way up to her bedroom.
'I can't drop my act just because I am at home.' She shook her head and pretended to walk with great difficulty.

Hours passed and when Lina finally opened her eyes, it was already dark outside.
The bright and warm sun had disappeared by now and the dark and gloomy clouds had taken over the sky.
Rubbing her groggy eyes, she stared at the ceiling and waited to let her mind to start functioning properly.
After her little quarrel with her brother's best friend, Tristan, she had decided that a nap was all she needed to calm herself down.
'Tristan hasn't changed even after all these years.' She shook her head as that man popped up in her thoughts.
Her brother was not an 'easy to please' man and hardly a few chosen ones could make his acquaintance.
However, there was one guy who stuck by his side through everything and that man was Tristan.
Remembering all those cheesy nicknames this man had used for her, Lina let out an exasperated chuckle.
"He never did change his ways!" She sighed wearily.
Ever since they had first met until the time he had moved away to Europe, Tristan was always a cheesy flirt who loved to tease her by calling her all those sweet endearments.
She was so used to it by now that she was immune to his flirtatious ways.
Shaking his thoughts away, she picked up her phone to check the time and winced when the screen's bright time assaulted her eyes.
Her eyes took a moment to adjust after which they almost popped out when she read the long queue of messages that had been sent to her phone.
Each one of them was from the same sender.
*Ruby <3*
She had added the heart emoji after their kiss at Wade's office.
Reading them one by one, her smile grew wider and stayed that way until she was done reading them all.
*Where's my 'I reached home safely' text, Kitten?*
*Can't believe I'm being ghosted by my girlfriend already ;-; *
*I hope you are doing fine. Maybe you want to be left alone with your thoughts or you are just napping. Well, I hope you feel better either way.*
*Don't take that idiot Wayne's actions too seriously. Say the word and I'll beat him up for you.*
*I'm doing this for the first time… I mean, texting a girl! Would be better if I actually got a reply.*
*It is getting lonely here. I wish there was a pretty Kitten to accompany me…*
*Just got out of a tedious meeting. I wish I could just rest in my bathtub and forget about my troubles!*
*Done with today's work at the office! Time to work at home now!*
"Eight texts! He sent eight texts!" She exclaimed as her heart thumped against her chest after reading each one of them.
Paying close attention to them, she caught sight of a certain knot that tied them all together.
"He sent one text every half hour!" She bemused after noticing this interesting connection between them.
"Was he worried about annoying me with his texts that he spaced them out?" She giggled like a teenager who was experiencing her first love.
She took her time to think of what to say to him and then replied to each one of his texts, all in one go.
"I don't shy away from sending multiple texts, Ruby. Be prepared to face my barrage of texts from now on!" She murmured while holding the phone close to her chest after she was done.
Looking at the time, she shook her head after discovering that it was already dinner time.
She ambled towards the washroom to freshen up and after changing into a new set of home clothes, she left the room to head downstairs.
Butler Mo had been instructing the maids about the dinner preparation when from the corner of his eyes, he noticed Lina walking down the stairs.
'She looks well-rested.' He nodded in satisfaction after giving her a quick glance.
Sending the maids away to complete their tasks, he walked towards her with a glass of warm water.
"Feeling better, Young Miss?" He questioned as he passed the glass over to her.
Lina accepted his goodwill and smiled back at him radiantly.
"Such a small matter isn't enough to keep me down for too long." She pumped her fist in the air, proving that she was back to the normal and cheerful Lina.
"Is that so?" A sarcastic voice made Lina and Butler Mo turn towards the door.
