Chapter 225 - You Are Done For!

Lina was running around Reuben's apartment, attempting to murder her assistant as silently as possible.

Though the noodles Benji had prepared were extra spicy, she did not chicken out and give up on them.

She shed tears as she finished her portion and then chugged a glass of cold milk to soothe her burning tongue and tormented taste buds.

Now that she had managed to survive his deadly spicy noodles, she decided to give him some much-deserved payback.

"You'll wake him up!" Benji scowled in a whisper as he shielded his face from the oncoming pillow that was flung right at him.

Lina begrudgingly tossed away the other pillow in her hand which was ready and aimed straight at his nose.

Harrumphing out loud, she rolled her eyes and then plopped on the couch.

Benji watched as she panted to catch her breath and only inched closer when he saw that she wouldn't get violent once again.

They both sat on the couch and the thing that caught their eye was the big package that was placed on the table before them.

"What do you think that might be?" Lina thought out loud and rubbed her chin in contemplation.

"None of your business. Keep your snoopy nose away from it!" Benji reprimanded her and then turned towards her with an exasperated expression.

However, the playfulness on his face faded when he saw the red marks which were peeking out from under the neck of her hoodie.

"What is that?" He questioned as a grim look appeared making him look scary and dangerous.

"That is exactly what I am trying to guess!" Lina muttered in a miffed voice as she continued to gaze at the box on the table.

When she felt the strange aura coming from her side, she slowly turned her head to the right.

Only then did she realize where his eyes were fixed and understood that Benji was talking about the marks that Reuben had left on her neck.

"Hehe… I can explain…" She chuckled sheepishly and gulped in fear.

'This guy will surely report this back to mommy and big brother Wind!' She cried out for Ruby's safety if that ever happened.

"I am waiting!" Benji enunciated his words through gritted teeth and blazing eyes.

Lina sighed before patiently explaining to him what had happened ever since she entered this apartment.

As the narration progressed, Benji's expressions worsened and he was having a hard time controlling his anger that was directed at the man who had harmed his boss.

'It is my duty to keep her safe and I failed so miserably…' He grimaced when he thought of the reason why she was even here in the first place.

He blamed himself for getting her here which eventually caused her to get injured by that evil man who was sleeping inside.

Looking at Benji's pissed off face, Lina determined that it was the best for both of them if she kept the incidents that had happened on her journey to his house a secret.

'If he knows that I got into the car of a complete stranger to get to his house then he might not hesitate to chop my head off.' She reckoned and decided to keep her mouth shut.

Thinking of the ride here, she was reminded of the man who had been so nice to help her in her time of need.

'Jackson was such a great help today!' She chuckled which made Benji glare at her.

Throwing away Jackson's memories from her mind, she put her attention and efforts to placate this big guy who was fuming at Reuben.

"He did not do it on purpose, Benjamin!" She dictated while using his proper name which made Benji pout.

'She only uses 'Benjamin' when she does not want any more discussions or persuasions regarding a certain matter.' He recalled her behavioral traits and then sighed.

No matter how angry and annoyed he was, what could he do if the person at the center of the incident did not mind it?

"But if he hurts you ever again then I will not think twice before reporting it to Young Master Wind!" He threatened and narrowed his eyes at her.

Lina raised her hands in defeat and accepted his condition.

'As long as he doesn't tell brother Wind about this incident then Ruby will not have any troubles.' She gratefully nodded at him as she hugged his arm.

Looking at her cute behavior, Benji first scoffed and then patted her head as one would do to a pet cat.

He had been by her side to watch over her safety and wellbeing for years now.

At first, it was only an obligation, a task given by his boss that he had to fulfill but with time, this little girl had made a place in his heart that was irreplaceable right now.

Thinking of her big brother, Lina was reminded that it had been long since she had last spoken to him.

'I tried calling him after my little argument with Tristan but my call never went through.' She thought back to the time when she had spoken to Wind's best friend.

She was aware of Benji's close connection with her elder brother and this prompted her to interrogate him if he had any information about Wind's whereabouts.

"Benji?" She called out to him while still hugging his arm.

Benji looked down at the head that was resting on his shoulder and hummed in response.

Lina continued staring at the box before her as she spoke up once again.

"Have you spoken to brother Wind recently?" She investigated and there was a moment of silence in the room.

Benji had tried to make contact with his master when Lina announced that she had started dating Reuben Ming.

Unfortunately, he could not reach the man and hence had to give up on his attempts of contacting him.

'He must be busy with a mission and can't contact anyone in the outside world.' He speculated as it was usual for his master to disappear for days together and then return when he was done with his work.

However, if he told Lina about the lack of communication that they had, then she might panic for sure and thus he decided to keep this a secret from her.

"No… The last we spoke was during that video call when you came over for a sleepover at my place." He lied seamlessly without breaking a sweat.

Lina, who was ignorant of the lies that she was being fed, nodded her head in dejection.

"I just hope that he is okay." She muttered while closing her drowsy eyes.

Benji did not reply as he was lost in his thoughts on how to make contact with his master.

When he had come out of his thoughts, he found the woman asleep while resting her head on his stiff shoulders.

He did not dare to move an inch and sat frozen in the same position so that she might get some rest.

__

Here Lina was snoring softly while drooling on Benji's shoulder and somewhere out on the road, Pat and Wade were glancing around in anxiety.

After watching the footage from the CCTV cameras, they were made aware of Lina's safe arrival to Yang Manor with her chauffeur, Derek.

They even witnessed her little spat with the Rong mother and daughter pair following which she received a phone call.

They were oblivious about who had made that call but it seemed urgent enough that she had gotten dressed and then rushed out of the house.

"She did not mind driving on her own so the person who called her must be someone close?" Patrick deduced as he drove around an abandoned road.

Wade, who sat in the passenger's shotgun seat nodded his head in agreement.

"The car is about 500 meters ahead!" He announced in an excited voice while keeping his eyes on the laptop placed on his lap.

The car that uncle Pat had custom made for his adorable niece had a secret feature in it that the said beloved niece was clueless about.

The car had a hi-tech tracking device equipped in it which could pinpoint the exact location of the car even if it was in the middle of the ocean.

Patrick had to spend a huge sum of money to get that device which was made by a world-renowned hacker who had just shot to fame in recent months.

He never flinched while paying the bill and thinking of his wise decision back then which was coming in handy right now, Patrick was proud of himself.

'Wally yelled at me for spending such a big amount on a tiny chip but look at what is helping us now! That same chip!' He gloated while stepping on the accelerator.

They had been tracking Lina's black sedan and were now closing in on its location.

"There it is!" Patrick yelled out when he saw the car that they had been looking for at a short distance away from them.

Wade narrowed his eyes as he placed the laptop in the backseat and tapped on his uncle's shoulder.

Understanding his gesture, Patrick slowed down his car and parked it away from the car up ahead.

The two men got off their vehicle and tip-toed until they reached Lina's car whose driver's seat door was wide open.

'You go from that side and I'll take this side.' Patrick signaled with his hand and then stalked towards the car.

Outside the car was a person standing whose body was hunched as it leaned towards the driver's seat.

'What is this creep doing in Nana's car? Is she inside the car right now?' Wade's terrible thoughts hastened his steps and he went to trap the intruder from the other side.

'You are done for!' Patrick smirked as his hand reached out to grab the man whose half body was inside the car while the other half was outside.
