Chapter 229 - Cook Breakfast

When Lina woke up the next morning, she found herself in a strange room laying on a large comfy bed.

Disoriented as she was, she sat up and ruffled her already messed up hair, and rubbed her eyes groggily.

'Where am I?' She glanced around the new room, wondering which exotic realm she had been teleported to.

'Was I drugged? Why do I not remember where this place is?' She panicked since this did not seem like Benji's room.

She looked down and sighed when she found the yoga pants and hoodie that she had worn last night were still on her body.

Her head turned towards the door when she heard voices that were being muffled due to the soundproofing of the room.

As her mind started functioning after a few minutes of waking up from her slumber, she realized that she had fallen asleep on Benji's shoulder last night.

"Since this cannot be Benji's place then that only means... this is Ruby's guest room?" She muttered to herself while clenching the sheets that were covering her.

Last night she had the thought of having kids with him and now she is already sleeping in his house?

Albeit it wasn't in the same bed but this feeling certainly was surreal and a surge of butterflies arose in her empty tummy.

*Growl*

Though there was a high possibility that the butterflies might have just been her stomach begging to be filled.

Listening to her growling tummy, Lina decided to first make herself look proper before she ventured outside.

'What if Ruby is awake and he sees me in this hideous form?' She shook her head and jumped off the bed.

Lucky for her, she noticed a fresh set of towels, robes, and pajamas placed on the table.

'Did Benji prepare these?' She guessed and was utterly grateful for her thoughtful assistant.

When Lina hopped into the bathroom to start her morning routine, the voices that she had heard earlier were continuing their conversation.

In the kitchen, two men stood on opposite sides of the kitchen island and were in a silent face-off.

'This is childish!' Reuben chided himself and decided to be the bigger person among the two of them.

"All I am saying is that I don't want you to carry her like what you did last night." He specified what he meant by his earlier words.

Benji rolled his eyes at the overprotective man and shrugged his shoulders.

"So you want me to wake her up from her sleep? Is that what you wanted me to do?" He retorted which made Reuben stop and ponder about it.

'How could anyone bear to wake that cute face and disturb her sleep?' Reuben subconsciously shook his head in answer.

Benji scoffed and then went back to what he was doing before Reuben decided to start an argument with him.

The reason for this argument was due to a certain event from last night.

When Reuben had woken up in the middle of the night to use the washroom, he noticed that the woman who was supposed to be by his side was nowhere around.

This made him venture out of the room and thus he stumbled upon the sweet scene of Lina asleep on Benji's shoulder and the man himself was also dozing off.

His intention of watching the adorable sleeping face was swept away when he saw her snuggling closer to another man's body.

A raging storm began brewing up in his body when he saw how cozy these two were.

However, before he could think of what his next move might be, he noticed that Benji's sharp gaze was fixed on him.

Reuben always knew that this assistant was more than just a simple assistant like Mathew Kim.

'He has a great sense of perception. He was falling asleep just earlier but look at him now… Sharp and alert.' He deduced and stepped closer.

The killing intent that Benji felt for a split second was the cause of him rousing from his already light slumber.

"What was that just now?" He questioned as he saw the patient who was supposed to be sleeping was now standing in the living room barefoot.

Reuben did not speak as he did not wish to wake the sleeping kitten up and silently stepped closer to their position.

He leaned forward and just as he was about to hold onto Lina's arm, his hand was clasped in a strong grip.

Looking at the hand that was grabbing his wrist, Reuben frowned at the force that he felt and the annoyance that he couldn't shake it off in his weak state.

"Let go! I will take her to my guest room. She can rest there." He whispered which made Benji relax his hold but did not release it.

Benji understood what his intentions were but he did not want to leave Lina in his hands.

"Pick up that box first. If you can, then I will hand Lina over to you." He proposed and all he got was an arrogant snort in return.

Reuben turned towards the box that his Grandpa had sent for him and bent down to pick it up.

Unfortunately, his arrogance came crashing down just like the box that he had tried to carry.

It was all thanks to Benji's quick reflexes which made him put his leg forward, making the box first hit his leg which broke its fall.

The men both turned towards Lina and sighed when they saw that she did not wake up by the soft thud that the box made when it landed on the ground.

Noticing the gloating smile on Benji's face, Reuben could only grit his teeth and watch as the other man carried his girlfriend to the guest bedroom.

'Stupid cold!' He cursed his weak state on the cold and followed after them.

Benji tucked Lina in bed like a mother would do to her child and this scene brought a sense of relief to Reuben.

'At least I know that he isn't secretly in love with my Kitten.' He reassured himself.

Benji then returned to his house to bring spare clothes for Lina and spent the night on Reuben's couch since he did not trust the CEO.

When he woke up, he noticed that he was the first one to be up and hence decided to cook breakfast for everyone.

This was when Reuben entered and began his argument about not carrying Lina in that way ever again.

"Look man, there will be times when she needs help and you might not necessarily be around," Benji explained while flipping the omelet.

He expertly plated it and then began juicing some fruits.

"At those times, I will always be there to support and help her out." He declared in between the intervals of the blender's loud noise.

Reuben gave him an unenthusiastic nod before getting up from his seat.

Benji frowned and upon inquiring, he realized that Reuben wanted to make his own breakfast.

"Just tell me what you want and I'll cook it for you." He suggested which made Reuben raise his brows in astonishment.

'He mocks me one second and then acts nice the next?' Reuben tried to make sense of this big man's personality.

Realizing that he was being psychoanalyzed by the man sitting on the other side, Benji scowled and rolled his eyes.

"Don't think too much about this." He scoffed and then picked up a new saucepan.

"I am only doing this so that the little demoness doesn't kill me when she knows that I made a sick person cook for himself." He revealed his reasons which made Reuben chuckle.

'Kitten is not a little demoness.' He debated in his mind and soon he would curse himself for not saying that out loud.

This was because, right on cue, Lina emerged from the guest room after Benji's statement.

"May I know who this demoness might be?" She inquired while wiping her wet hair.

Reuben's eyes were glued on her body as she moved in their direction.

The baby blue silk pajamas adhered to her body due to her slightly damp skin, making her figure's outlines to be clearly visible.

Reuben gulped hard and his sore throat hurt when he swallowed but he had no intention of doing anything about it as he was transfixed on the woman.

Lina blushed when she felt his fervent gaze on her and Benji rolled his eyes following which he concentrated on his cooking.

When she reached the kitchen, she sat beside Reuben and tossed the moist towel onto the chair on the other side.

"Good morning, Ruby! Slept well?" She wished and then questioned him about his rest.

Before he could answer her about his well being, her hand reached for his forehead and pressed on it to check his temperature.

'Does she want to give me a heart attack!' Reuben cried out in his heart when she had leaned closer to check his temperature.

The body wash and shampoo she had used were the same that he used every day.

Just the thought of his girlfriend smelling like him made him lose his mind which in turn heated up his entire face.

"Still warm and you seem a little flushed." She muttered to herself after investigating and sat back on the chair.

A chortle made them turn in the direction of the man who was trying to stop his laughter and minimize his presence but was failing miserably.

'He is blushing so of course he looks flushed and the temperature rise can also be her fault.' He speculated and stopped his chuckle when he saw their glares.

Reuben glared because he felt that Benji had figured him out and Lina glared since she had yet to get back at him for the 'demoness' comment.

To ease the flames he felt that could burn him alive, Benji asked Reuben what he would like to eat for breakfast.

"Oatmeal!" Reuben's energized answer made both Lina and Benji freeze and stare at him unblinkingly.
