When Wade and Wayne reached Yang Manor, the atmosphere was chilling as they stepped inside.
The scene they were met with seemed as though they had entered a military training center.
In the middle of the couch sat Patrick Yang with his legs crossed one over the other and his eyes were directed at the side.
The twins turned in that direction and were met with a long line of servants standing at attention with nervous expressions pasted on their faces.
Patrick shot them an uninterested glance when he noticed their presence and then focused his attention back on the servants of the mansion.
Wade gulped and then stepped closer to his uncle to take his seat on the adjacent couch.
'He seems mad at the Nana-Reuben dating incident.' Wayne speculated and then took his seat next to his brother.
Wade did not shun him now since he was brought up to date on why Wayne had done those things that day with Jeanette Liang.
'He could have just told us about it. I'm sure that Nana would have worked with him to get the results that he desired.' He shook his head at the stupid move that Wayne had made.
While Wade was roasting his brother about his weak comprehension skills, Patrick was glaring at his family's butler.
"Where are they!?" He snarled at Butler Ping who bowed his head immediately after.
"They were asleep and are on the way now, Master." Butler Ping informed without a moment's delay.
Patrick stayed silent and within a few seconds, three figures emerged from the side door.
"Master, they have arrived." Richy, the servant informed.
Buter Ping had given him the task to bring the two women who were now leisurely strolling into the main hall.
Mandy and Lucille Rong were dressed in their nightgowns as they entered the room.
Mandy smiled at her father and then shot a puzzled glance at the long line of servants who had gathered in the hall.
Just as they were about to take their seat on the couch that was closest to them, they froze and were in an awkward position, hovering just above the seat.
The reason for this awkward stance was the single sentence that Patrick uttered.
"Who allowed you to sit?" He had questioned and the smiles on their faces had faded away in the next instant.
Lucille observed the terrifying aura surrounding him and this made her pull her daughter up as they stood straight.
"So you still know how to behave?" He spat out those rude words at his ex-secretary who had been the cause of the troubles he had been facing in recent times.
The mature woman was startled when she heard him and gazed at him with a wronged expression materializing on her face.
"What have I done to receive such words, Master?" She softly muttered in a submissive tone.
The men sitting on the couch all cringed when they heard her overly affectionate tone.
'I'm glad that Wally isn't here or he would have torn her apart by now.' Patrick decided to ignore her words and turned to his butler.
"Where were you when Nana came back home?" He interrogated sternly.
Butler Ping immediately turned towards Lucille when that question was posed and then looked down.
Patrick had already been in a foul mood and this action of his butler made him fume further.
"What are you looking at her for? I am still the master of this household!" He scowled which made everyone flinch.
Patrick was not bothered that he was scaring them in fact he increased his pressurizing aura which made everyone feel terrified.
Their master had never been this scary until this day and all the servants were cursing the person who had caused this problem to come upon them.
"Or do you think that your master has changed because I do not come back often enough?" Patrick's mocking words made the servants sweat in nervous anxiety.
Butler Ping and Mrs. Ping who had always been loyal to the Yang family widened their eyes and shook their heads vehemently.
"No master! We will always follow you. But…" Mrs. Ping stopped and then glanced at Lucille once again.
Lucille had been clenching her fists tightly ever since Patrick had uttered those words earlier.
"Then what was the reason for your disappearance?" Patrick snarled at the old lady.
Being the wife slave that he was, Butler Ping did not want his wife to get yelled at for some unworthy person so he decided to reveal what had happened in Lina and Patrick's absence.
"Master, it was Mrs. Rong who told us not to appear before her eyes other than the times for her meals." He disclosed the reason for their sudden disappearance.
Mrs. Ping and Lucille had a spat one day and the old maid was threatened to be thrown out of the house in Patrick's absence if she ever dared to talk back to her.
Hearing these demeaning words that were aimed at the woman who served his mother once, Patrick's eyes turned dark and he glared at the culprit.
"Is this true?" He uttered and sat up straight.
Lucille kept her head bowed and her trembling shoulders displayed that she was sobbing in silence.
Looking at her mother's pitiable state, Mandy glared at the maid and then stared at her father.
"So what if Mum yelled at her? She is a maid and she dared to talk back to my mother? She deserves to be taught a lesson!" Mandy sneered at the woman who was being shielded by the Butler.
Wade shook his head and Wayne scoffed at the stupid woman who did not know when to advance and when to retreat.
"Why are you even questioning mum? Is that maid's position in this house higher than my mother? Is she worthy of-" Mandy's rant could not continue when she heard a single word.
"Yes." Patrick enunciated the word and then gazed at Lucille with his stern eyes.
"Mrs. Ping is more important to me and she does have a higher place in this household." He explained to the child who seemed to keep forgetting this.
Mandy and Lucille both froze and stared at him with wide eyes.
Lucille's fake tears turned real when she heard how he had just compared her to a mere maid and she had lost.
Mandy's annoyance with her father's cold behavior towards them increased by another notch.
"Why would you say something like that? Why do you treat us like we are the plague and run away from us? We are your real family!" She yelled in an aggrieved tone.
She had had enough of being treated as outsiders when this house belonged to them just as much as it belonged to that bitch, Lina.
"I am your daughter! Not Lina!" She cried out and glared at him.
'Nana is not my daughter and neither are you!' He scoffed but kept his thoughts to himself.
He needed to gather more information before he could throw them out of his life with no possibility of their return.
Hence he did not expose their truth and just stared at the child who was speaking out of turn.
"I haven't gotten to you yet so it would be better if you stay out of this." He commanded, making Mandy's face turn red with anger and shame.
Her eyes sought for the person who was always by her side and she blinked at him with a bitter smile when she saw him staring back at her.
Seeing that Richy was biting his lower lip and then bowed down to hide his angry expression made Mandy's anger diminish ever so lightly.
However, what she had not noticed was the mocking smile that appeared on Richy's lips as he rolled his eyes at her for falling for his low-level acting skills.
"I want to make something very clear here." Patrick's booming voice brought everyone's attention to him.
"The highest authority among the maids lies with Mrs. Ping and the only person who has the right to dismiss her is the Lady of the house." He announced which made a smile to reappear on Lucille's face.
'He still cares for me!' She believed and gazed at him longingly.
"And that person is Lina so I want everyone to keep that in mind." He declared and ignored the two angry women.
"What am I then?" Mandy shot right back as she fought for her birthright in the hierarchy of this house.
Patrick paused for a second and then nodded his head.
"Sure but you are still below Nana." He admitted with a lazy tone.
'Way way low. Lower than the depths of hell.' He kept the last part of the sentence to himself.
The authority that Lucille and Mandy had been exploiting by ordering the maids around in Lina and Patrick's absence would now be snatched away from them.
This made them feel like a bucket of cold water was thrown over them and they were shown their real place in this house.
'I can't believe that daddy would treat me like this! Jeanie was right when she said that Lina snatched his love away from me!' She gripped the edge of her nightgown and gritted her teeth.
Now, her resolve to avenge the grievances that she and her mother had faced in this house was intensifying which would only cause a storm in the near future.
