Sitting inside an office on the highest floor of Obsidia Design's building, Lina flipped through the pages of the file that sat on her lap.
Every few minutes she would glance at her phone and then let out a deep sigh while shaking her head.
The first few times, Wade had ignored her but now this was getting on his nerves and he decided to let her know about it.
"Mind sharing what is making you so obnoxious today?" He scowled at his baby sister.
Lina looked up at the man who was sitting at the wide desk in the VP's office and then pouted her lips.
"I already said that I am sorry! Will you stop being mean to me!?" She whined and then stomped her feet as she remained seated on the couch.
Ever since she had come to his office today, she had been subjected to his rude behavior and she was not liking it in the least bit.
"Not until you learn how to inform us when you are leaving the house!" He yelled at her once again.
The thought of her being hurt or in danger made him grimace every single time.
Lina sighed when she heard his stubborn words and then she rose from her seat, following which she made her way to his desk.
Pulling a chair out for herself, she sat on the opposite side and looked him straight in the eyes.
"Ge, I am a big girl now and the least I should be able to do is venture outside without you guys coddling me." She lectured him and in return, she received a blazing scowl.
Wade felt his anger rising when he heard her ignorant and impudent words.
"Not when someone is trying to harm you, no you are not!" He blurted out in his frustration.
Lina frowned when she heard him and then tilted her head as she waited for an explanation without giving him a chance to change the flow of the conversation.
Wade first sneered at his sister who would not listen to their kind reminders unless she was shown the scary truth and hence he decided to do just that.
Her overconfident face displayed traces of fear and bafflement when she heard about the brakes of her car being tampered with.
'What if I had sped on the empty roads? Would I have met with an accident?' She imagined that even though her fear of speed would never allow such an incident to occur in the first place.
However, just like Patrick and Wayne, she as well had the exact same doubt after she heard everything that they had discovered last night.
"If their intention was to harm me then what was the use of draining the fuel tank? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?" She mulled over this contradictory situation that she had encountered.
What she did not know was that Richy had never meant to hurt her!
All he wished to do was to mess with her brakes so that he might prove to Lucille that he was true to the Rong women and not to the Yangs.
If Lina had followed his original well thought out plan then she would have just reached the private road that leads outside the Yang Manor before her car gave out.
Sadly, he had failed to take into account her extreme fear of speed that made her drive the car at a much slower pace than what he had imagined thus driving until where she had.
Lina took in all the information that she had been narrated and stayed silent for a few moments.
"Anything in the cameras?" She questioned him about the state of the art CCTV cameras that he had asked Butler Ping to install all over the house.
Wade sighed when he thought back to what had happened after Uncle Pat had sent all the servants away from the Main Hall when he was done berating them.
"We scoured the tapes but there was no sign of an intruder entering the garage or messing with your car." He informed her and in response, Lina frowned.
"Any signs of the tapes being tampered with?" This was her doubt when she heard his words.
There was no way that someone had messed with her car and the garage's CCTV had captured nothing.
'It's not like there is a ghost in the house that moves about without getting caught on camera!' She scoffed and then maintained her gaze on her brother.
Wade coughed at her sudden question and then hastily gulped the water placed on his table.
'Why is he so panicked as though he has seen a ghost?' Lina narrowed her eyes and continued glaring at him.
"What is it that you are hiding, Ge Ge?" She interrogated as she leaned forward on the desk just like the detectives would in the crime movies.
Wade felt as though he had been put under the spotlight so he quickly averted his eyes.
"Wayne checked the tapes and they were not tampered with." He quickly blurted out without looking at her.
Lina's narrowed eyes widened after which they narrowed once again.
"What was he doing there?" She sneered when she heard that Wayne was also there at Yang Manor last night.
Noticing her aversion from the very mention of his elder brother's name, Wade felt sorry for the man who was bearing their anger in silence.
"Nana, it is not what it seems like." He tried to coax her but she harrumphed in return.
"So he brought you over to his side? What did he offer as a bribe?" She suspiciously glared while continuing her investigation.
She neither gave him a chance to speak nor did she take a breath herself, instead, she carried on with her rant.
"He yelled at me you know!? For that Jeanette Liang!" Lina scoffed as she reminded him of her reason to be mad at Wayne.
Wade took a deep breath as he rose from his seat and moved to the opposite of the table.
He then jumped up and sat on the table with Lina sitting by his side as she looked up at him with confusion apparent in her eyes.
"Nana, there was a reason why Wayne did what he did." He disclosed and then gave her time to soak in this new information.
"Of course there is! He wants to get into that Liang woman's pants and so he did not even think before yelling at me!" She roared out her grievances and then turned away.
Just as Wade was about to explain what Wayne had revealed to him, he was interrupted by someone else.
"I do not like Jeanette Liang, Nana." A soft voice came from the direction of the door which made them turn around to see who it was.
Standing there by the door which was now closing, was Wayne Luo as he slowly removed the mask that was hiding his face until now.
He had been worried about Lina's safety and had decided to come to take a look at her from afar.
He was not aware that she would be here at this moment and had recklessly entered his brother's office like he always did.
However, when he had entered, he overheard Lina's complaints about his harsh treatment and his mouth uttered those words before he was conscious of what he was doing.
Lina frowned when she noticed his presence and then turned her head the opposite way.
'He must have lost interest in Jeanette and that is why he came back.' She guessed and sneered at the man who changed his girlfriends so often.
"I'll read the file in my office." She announced as she got up and stepped towards the couch.
But before she could reach the couch, her path was blocked by the man who had just arrived inside this office.
She took a step to the right and Wayne moved the same way, she took a step to the left, and once again she was blocked.
"Ge, ask this man to move." She commanded as she turned towards Wade.
Facing the angry eyes of his sister and then the burning glare from his brother which indicated that if he uttered a word he would get wedgied, Wade did what was best for him.
He raised his hands in surrender and took a step away from the quarreling pair.
'Coward!' Lina mocked him and then decided to leave without the file.
"Listen to what I have to say and then if you still want to leave… I won't stop you." Wayne's pleading voice made her halt in her steps.
She turned around while cursing her weak heart for melting so quickly yet she did not let her frown soften.
"What is it?" She inquired as she returned to her seat.
The twins smiled when they saw that she was at least willing to listen to Wayne's explanation.
He did not wish to waste this opportunity and planned on telling her everything he had discovered.
As Lina was also present and was at the epicenter of the incident, he simply skimmed over those parts and got to the important points.
"When she said that you chased after men… There was a dangerous and wild glint in her eyes as though she was not the innocent Jeanette Liang that people knew of." He revealed his discoveries one by one.
'So he knew about her weird changes in personality?' She exclaimed in excitement.
"She looked psychotic for a second there before she reverted to the white lotus persona." She mentioned what she had experienced.
Wayne looked lost when he heard the words 'white lotus' and they had to take a few seconds' break to educate this brother about her novel jargon.
"That seems about right." He agreed and then went on with his story.
"When she caught sight of us walking in her direction she began her sob story about Mandy being bullied by you and then twisted her ankle to gain my sympathy." He rolled his eyes when he remembered her exceptional acting skills.
Lina's hazel eyes glowed when she heard him and this made her grit her teeth.
"So you knew that she faked it and yet you supported her? Why?" She growled ferociously.
"To know what her real plan is." He divulged with an equally serious tone.
"She likes me, that is for sure but there is something else that she wants from me." He muttered as a scary glint flashed through his eyes.
"And I am going to play this game along with her until I know what that is!" He declared resolutely.
