Chapter 241 - Through The Generations

Lina twisted her waist when she noticed his silence and glanced at his face.

This time, Reuben did not maintain his hold over her but allowed her to turn around so that they might be able to look into each other's eyes during this conversation.

Lina and Reuben got out of each other's embrace and sat up straight. They then imitated each other and sat with their legs folded one over the other.

"I have something that I need you to hear." He whispered and then pursed his lips.

What he wished to say was something vital for Lina to know since he was planning to spend a lifetime with her.

'She needs to know about this to avoid any further misunderstandings in the future.' He surmised when he remembered what had happened earlier.

This made his brows furrow and his lips to gain a downward curvature.

'Why does he look like he is constipated?' Lina wondered as she continued to gaze at his face.

If Reuben ever realizes that his smoldering and brooding face was mistaken for a constipated face then he would surely puke blood due to heartburn.

Since he was blissfully unaware of the silly thoughts in her head, he intently looked into her eyes and then extended his hands to hold onto hers.

'I like this feeling whenever I touch her.' He discovered this new obsession that he was beginning to cultivate.

Every time he touched her he felt as though he never wanted to let go.

'Did he not want to say something? Why is he playing with my fingers now?' Lina let out a cough when she noticed that he had become distracted.

Hearing the awakening call from his Kitten, Reuben glanced up and stopped playing with her dainty fingers.

"I have something to say in regards to my family." He revealed what made Lina flinch for a second.

She was aware that Reuben was more serious about this relationship than she was and this thought scared her sometimes.

'I might be taking things according to my own pace but have I thought about what he wants?' She wondered and once again felt guilty when she realized that she was being selfish.

She had always given priority to what she wanted and how she felt so somewhere along the line she forgot to focus on other people's wants and desires.

"What is it, Ruby? You can tell me anything." She encouraged him, taking a step forward to change this selfish behavior that took over at times.

Reuben had noticed it when she had frozen when he had used the word 'family' but his mind had contributed it to a completely different factor.

'Is she still mad at Mother for what had happened with Talia's case?' He imagined and decided to do something to fix this problem at the earliest.

'I can't have my future wife feuding with my mother if I want to keep them both happy after our marriage.' He blushed when he got this thought in his mind.

Once again Lina was met with silence so she could not help but stare at him with her brows raised in amusement.

"What ecchi thoughts are going on in your mind that your cheeks are so flushed, Mr. Reuben Ming?" She interrogated in a mischievous voice while wiggling her brows.

She had been observing him and that soft blush on his face was proof that he was thinking of something that was making him either shy or embarrassed.

"Not everyone has ecchi thoughts all the time!" He retorted with a scowl on his face.

He even went as far as to flick her on her forehead for even thinking that he would imagine such things.

He had conveniently forgotten that just earlier, he had an erection when Lina was wriggling while she was on his lap.

"Hey!" Lina whined while rubbing the spot where he had attacked.

She narrowed her eyes and then pouted her lips feeling wronged.

"You've been hitting me all morning!" She complained and then blushed thinking of the spank she had received.

The chuckle that had erupted from Reuben's mouth made her feel even more embarrassed and she could not help but glare at him viciously.

'I planned to make him feel embarrassed but why did it backfire on me!?' She grimaced at this obvious failure of her plans.

Reuben shook his head and then stopped his chuckle, taking on a serious front as he gazed into her eyes.

"Enough with the fun now shall we move to the topic at hand?" He asked as he reverted to his normal everyday business face.

Lina wiped the grin off her face as she nodded her head, placing her hands on her thighs to show that she was paying attention to what he had to say.

Reuben smiled when he saw her cute appearance and then cleared his throat to reveal the tale of old.

"There is something unique among the men in the Ming family which have been passed along through the generations." He began to retell the stories that he had heard and witnessed.

Lina's curiosity piqued when she heard his first sentence and she silently heard as he moved along.

He retold his grandpa Mings tales of how he and his ancestors had followed this and how Reuben would have to do the same in the future.

"All of the men in the Ming family have something that was handed to them since the day they were born and we hold it sacred." He divulged this piece of information.

'What is it? Oh, my gold! Um... I mean God!' Lina corrected the mistake that her vain brain had made.

Unknown to the greedy thoughts in her head, Reuben gazed into her eyes and then smiled.

"Loyalty." He uttered a single word which caused Lina to almost fall off the bed.

Her dumbfounded and confused face said it all since this was not what she had expected him to say in a million years.

'I was thinking that they had gold or jewels that were passed down through generations.' She scowled at the suspense he had created before giving such an anti-climactic revelation.

'Heck, I could have guessed that they had a third nipple that was genetically passed on through the generations but I never would have even thought of this answer.' She was sure of this fact.
