Chapter 252 - Her Dream Job

Maxene smirked when she was asked to narrate how she had managed to achieve this feat of turning the employees of Obsidia against Lina.

"If it wasn't for Miss Zheng's generous offer then none of this would have happened." She praised the woman on the other side of the phone.

Hearing the obvious flattering words, Valerie Zheng, the woman on the other side rolled her eyes but said nothing in return.

Valerie Zheng had contacted Maxene Kang a few days ago and had made her an offer she could not resist.

The younger daughter of the Zheng family was aware of the obsession that this lady had with her older sister.

Hence, all she had to do was make a phone call and express her desire to see Lina's image being tarnished in exchange for a job at Talia's Jewelry.

Maxene was elated and agreed to accept this proposal as her dream job had come knocking at her door.

'A job at Talia's is worth much more than this pathetic job at Obsidia.' She assessed and gave her consent to assist the sisters.

Valerie had informed her that her sister, Talia, had a deep hatred for this woman named Lina Yang and all Maxene had to do was ruin her image in the company.

This was a small part of their grand scheme that the Zheng sisters were cooking up to destroy Lina in the eyes of the women in high society.

They were dealing with matters outside the company and they needed someone on the inside who would do their bidding.

This was when Talia recalled that there was a crazy fanatic in Obsidia who had once applied for a job in her company.

She immediately asked Valerie to contact her and just as she had thought, Maxene did not disappoint her.

"How you do it is none of my concern but the result should be the disgraced face of Lina Yang." Valerie's command at that time now echoed in Maxene's ears.

She did not know what the two sisters, the queens of high society, had against Lina but she was not interested to know about it.

She had been given a golden opportunity to get into her dream company and she was not going to mess things up.

Thus Maxene took it upon herself to think of a strategy that might harm Lina's reputation but without gaining any attention towards herself.

As she wished to obtain the approval of her idol, Talia Zheng, she did not take the help of anyone else in this task and decided to do it solo.

The last scandal that she had created about Lina was thwarted when VP Wade had traced the accounts posting the pictures on the forum.

She had learned her lesson and thus this time she decided to do everything offline to keep herself safe from the off chance of getting hacked.

Yes, it was Maxene Kang who had made use of two employees in Obsidia to sully Lina's image during the previous scandal on the forums.

The employee who had been fired and the accomplice had been acting under her commands all along.

At that time, her motive for orchestrating that scheme was to take revenge for the attention that was snatched away from her.

She had paid the two women to work for her and hence not once did her name come up during the course of the investigation.

However, the woman who was fired was a wake-up call for her and hence she had been silent ever since for the sake of her job.

Now that there was a better opportunity in a better company, one owned by her idol, Maxene threw wind to caution and got to work.

The first thing she did was to stay away from social media as she did not want anything to be tracked back to her account.

So this time, she went off the grid, went the old school method.

She did the classic gossipy aunt way of doing things.

"I simply spoke to the employees about how unfair the management is when it comes to matters concerning the VP's sister." Maxene revealed after a long pause.

Valerie's eyebrows scrunched together as she waited for further explanation which Maxene was happy to give.

She then divulged how she had succeeded in her task by the simple method of 'word of mouth'.

The day that she received the phone call for Valerie, she sat down and plotted on how she would go about doing this without seeming suspicious.

The brilliant idea struck her when she had stepped out of her room to fetch some coffee for herself.

Since she had no assistant to do that for her, the employees taking their break in the lounge did not find anything odd with her presence there.

Maxene made herself a cup of steaming hot coffee and sat at the table with a group of women who were enjoying their snacks and tea.

Glancing down at the steam emerging from her cup, she sighed repeatedly until someone asked her what was wrong.

"Miss Kang, is everything alright? You seem upset about something." One kind lady expressed her concern about the research analyst in their department.

Maxene at first displayed immense reluctance to disclose the worrisome thoughts in her mind and then upon being insisted, she revealed her thoughts.

"Miss Yang is not in the office… Again…" She sighed and took a sip from her cup.

The ladies were puzzled when they heard the reason for her gloomy appearance.

"Why is Miss Kang so worried about it?" A random woman frowned when she heard her fairy's name being mentioned.

Maxene tightened her grip over the cup but did not let her bitterness appear on her face.

"I am worried because I have matters regarding a certain store that needs to be discussed with the consultant." She answered with a sweet smile.

"Sadly, the consultant is never in the office these days. No matter when I try to find her, she is always away during work hours." She added and looked down to hide her smirk.

The smirk that had formed when she noticed the look of understanding flashing in their eyes.

These women all worked on the same floor so they had observed Lina's continual absence or early leaves for the past few days.

"She has been missing quite often…" One expressed her doubts even though she refused to believe that Lina was doing that on purpose.

Maxene did not want to linger to increase her interference in this matter, hence she silently rose from her seat and ambled outside the breakroom.

"I wish she would take her job just as seriously as we do…" Her soft mutters disappeared along with her body as she turned around the corner.
