Chapter 254 - Like My Present?

Reuben stared at the ceiling, bored out of his mind as he spent the entire time alone at home.

Lina had forbidden him from leaving the house and from entering his home office in order to give his body complete rest for the whole day.

Not knowing what else to do, he watched an old black and white classic action movie to pass his time but he was bored soon after the movie ended.

'Kitten sure is cute sometimes.' He reckoned when he recalled how she had commanded him to stay back one more day to completely recover.

As he had no important meetings today, he had no reason to decline her goodwill and hence he stayed back at home to follow her orders.

Staring at the blank ceiling was causing him to get drowsy by each passing second and so he decided to take a nap before lunchtime.

He had asked his assistant, Mathew Kim to make sure that his lunch from his favorite restaurant would reach on time along with the files for tomorrow.

Since he had pushed back on the meeting with the Zheng Group due to his ill health, Mathew had rescheduled it for tomorrow afternoon.

This gave him a chance to review the clauses in the projects that the correspondent of the Zheng Group had brought along with him on their last meeting.

While Reuben was slowly drifting off into his dream world, his silent moment of repose was rudely disturbed by the ringing of the phone.

His eyes fluttered open as he turned and scowled at the phone that had interrupted his siesta.

'Maybe it is from Kitten and she needs something!' He deduced and leaped toward the bedside table.

Grabbing the phone, he glimpsed at the caller ID and his earlier concern and worry turned to a frown and a scowl.

'Why has he called?' He sneered as he pressed the answer icon.

The moment the call was connected, Reuben heard a burst of loud and booming laughter coming from the other side of the call.

He hurried to move the phone away from his ear and grimaced at the loud voice which could still be heard even when the phone was held at a short distance away from him.

"Did you like my present?" A bold and energetic voice was heard over the phone.

Reuben rolled his eyes and pressed his throbbing temples when he heard the first sentence that was uttered.

"That was not a funny prank, Grandpa!" He scowled at his grandfather who had almost gotten him in trouble.

'I am glad that Kitten did not think that I am some sleazy horndog who wants to get into her pants!' He comforted himself that he was not declared as a pervert by his girlfriend.

The laughter which grew louder made him growl in anger and only then did the hearty laughter simmer down to a weak chuckle.

"Calm down, boy! That was not a prank." Aloysius Ming corrected the misunderstanding that his grandson seemed to have.

Glancing at the big box which was now placed on the table in his bedroom, Reuben narrowed his eyes and then looked away.

"If that wasn't a prank then what was that!?" He scoffed at the old man who was trying to create problems for him.

Aloysius Ming rolled his eyes as he watched the scenery of the lush green vegetable fields from his balcony and shook his head.

"It was for you to use, you dull boy!" He yelled over the phone as he went back to his room.

Ever since he had heard from Reuben that he was no longer a single man, he could not make up his mind on what to get this grandson of his.

A gift for the change in his relationship status from forever single to already mingled was necessary for this man who had stayed alone for 28 years of his life.

Aloysius thought of what to get him and after a few days' worths of deliberation, he decided to give him a supply of the most important thing that a new couple needed.

Not hearing a word from his grandson, Aloysius frowned and then tapped on his screen wondering whether he had been disconnected from the call.

"I am here!" Reuben's irritated voice proved that the call was still ongoing which received a nod from the old patriarch.

"Of course, I would send that gift! We wouldn't want the Yang girl to get pregnant at a young age now, would we?" He inquired in all seriousness.

Hearing the word pregnant being connected with Lina made Reuben turn a bright red as he imagined that scenario.

"Was the call disconnected..?" Grandpa Ming's confused voice woke him up from his daydream.

"You…! That is not what happened!" Reuben clamored to explain the situation before Grandpa Ming could misunderstand something.

However, it was a little too late as Grandpa Ming was grinning from cheek to cheek as he heard the awkward nervousness in Reuben's voice.

"So my dear 'no longer a virgin' grandson, how was it? Heh heh?" His teasing words echoed in Reuben's ears.

The young man gritted his teeth as he sneered at the old man's perverted way of thinking.

"Nothing happened!" He yelled out in frustration.

Aloysius Ming could only blink his eyes in disappointment at this failure he called his grandson.

"What!? I send such a brilliant gift and you don't even make use of it!?" He snarled at his grandson who seemed to have the plans of remaining a virgin all his life.

Reuben felt aggrieved that so much pressure was being put on him for the virginity whose sanctity he had preserved all his life.

"It's not like I can just drag her to the bedroom and do what I want with her!" He sneered which soon became a whisper by the time he reached the end of his sentence.

"That is what animals do and not men." Aloysius uttered in a stern voice which received an immediate nod from Reuben.

"Which is why I am going to wait for Kitten to be ready before I use your 'gift'!" He declared in a resolute voice.

Aloysius could not find fault in what he had said and thus he hunched his shoulders as he slumped onto the couch.

"At least tell me that you have kissed properly…��� The old man had dropped his expectations to the lowest level as he questioned his grandson.

Hearing this, Reuben's cheeks turned red as he recalled what had happened earlier this morning.
