"Is this your friend?" Kirk Douglas, Wade's assistant who had been silent all along spoke up.
After his question, the man stepped aside to reveal the figure of a woman who had stayed concealed all along.
The woman looked up and her mascara stained eyes indicated that she had just bawled her eyes out before she had come to this floor.
The people stared at the woman's panda eyes and after a few seconds, one of them recognized her as the woman in the second video that had been sent out by Benji.
Maxene stared at the woman in fury as she had truly been the second gossipy woman in the company who was used as a pawn in her grand scheme.
This second woman was not as brave as the gossipy woman from the Marketing department.
This statement could be proved with ease because she broke down the moment Kirk had called her up to the top floor to confirm the authenticity of the video.
She instantly accepted that she had gossiped about Lina and also that it was Maxene who had come over to their floor to give them this hot gossip.
Now that she was before the person who had caused the trouble for her, this woman cursed Maxene in her heart.
'Stupid bitch had to open her mouth before me!' She cussed while glaring at her.
"Is finding a friend in this company a bad thing?" Maxene's aggrieved voice made some of the men to soften their glares while the others stared without any changes in their demeanor.
Leon, who had finally managed to calm the agitated plant lover sneered when he heard these words upon his return.
"If she is your friend then can you tell us what her name is?" He smirked as he poked the bear that was already raging.
Maxene snorted with confidence and nodded to show that she was fine with this question.
"Of course! She is Miss Song." She answered with her chin pointed out, a posture displaying her obvious arrogance.
Lina stared at the foolish woman with a blank expression and waited for Leon's next words and she was not disappointed.
"Oh yes, of course, it is Miss Song! Because we all address our friends as Miss and Mister, isn't it?" He mocked the words he had received as an answer.
Just to prove his point further, he held his chin just like Maxene did and turned around.
"Hello, Miss Yang, Mister Douglas, and Mister Douglas and Mister Lu…" Leon imitated her body language and words but soon choked before he could end his statement.
This was because he had stopped when he faced Wade as the words were stuck in his throat, refusing to escape the confines after noticing his glare.
"What is her first name?" Wade interrogated as he was fed up with this little cat and mouse game that was taking place.
'Let us finish this and get back to work!' He scoffed when he noticed that a good half hour had been lost for this nonsense.
Lina shook her head when she noticed his impatient actions but she too agreed with his thoughts.
'My feet hurt and I feel sluggish…' She complained while rubbing the sore muscles on her shoulders.
The swim from earlier this morning was taking its toll on her and now all she wanted to do was slump on her couch and take a much-needed nap.
"Karen! Her name is Karen Song!" Maxene exclaimed after forcing her brain to recall the insignificant woman's name.
The woman who had been called Karen Song by Maxene bit her lip and shook her head to express her refusal.
"My name is Kara Song, Miss Maxene Kang." She corrected her while addressing her by her entire name.
Not only did Kara prove that she had been wrong, but she also displayed that she knew what Maxene's name was.
As though a slap had been bestowed to her face, Maxene gritted her teeth when she saw the mocking gazes and the snickers that were being heard at her expense.
'The least that she could have done was learn the name of the person whom she was using as a pawn.' Lina lectured the woman's ignorant actions in her heart.
She felt as though she was the female lead with so many people standing up for her that she had barely lifted a finger to defend herself.
Maxene could feel Lina's pitying gaze and this made her gnash her teeth with more force than before.
"Enough!" Wade uttered which immediately brought a halt to the snickers that were being heard from time to time.
"If you cannot explain yourself then I don't have any other choice than to terminate your contract with Obsidia right this instant." His fierce warning made her freeze.
Maxene, at this moment, was weighing the pros and cons of the situation that she had found herself to be stuck in.
'On one hand, is this job with Director Stuart, and on the other hand, is my dream job with Miss Talia Zheng.' She analyzed what her heart desired.
The moment she thought of her dream job, all affections and kind feelings she had for Stuart Bai vanished in thin air as though they had never existed.
'All I need is to stand next to Miss Talia. Obsidia had never been on my priority list right from the start.' She confessed to herself and then raised her head.
When Stuart saw the look of determination in her eyes he was sure that he knew what her answer would be.
'She had never cared about this job. I cannot do anything to save her even if I want to.' He sighed and looked the other way, refusing to see what would happen next.
"If pouring my problems out to a friend is considered as something so bad… Then you can fire me!" She spat those words out and glared at the VP.
Wade Luo who had never faced such behavior from any of his employees narrowed his eyes as he uttered the next words.
"Miss Maxene Kang, as of this moment, you are no longer a member of Obsidia. Pack your stuff and leave the premises before the end of the hour." He dictated and then turned around to make his exit.
