While Moira Huo was facing the people standing before her, trying to oppose her words spoken in Lina's defense, that very same woman was sipping coffee in a leisurely manner.
It had been quite a few minutes since the entire charade had ended and now, Lina with the rest of her crew were sitting inside Wade's office.
"Thank you." The cheerful woman thanked the older secretary who had come over with a plate filled with cream centered cookies.
Wade shook his head while watching his little sister as she greedily stole a few cookies before Leon could claim them for himself.
Inside the office, Lina sat between Leon and Benji on one couch while Steph sat with his cheeks puffed up on the single-seater next to the big assistant.
On the other side sat Wade with his assistant Kirk and finally Anthony Shen who kept a close eye on his cheeky assistant who was misbehaving in the presence of the VP.
The interns who had helped them fulfill their task of driving the culprit out of the company were thanked sincerely by Lina.
Upon their continual insistence, she then promised to bake them some tasty treats which made them squeal in excitement as they left the top floor of executives in Obsidia.
Stephen had been pleased with them and had even announced that he wouldn't be as strict with their evaluation when the time for their internship would come to an end.
This further deepened their wide smiles as they made their way back to the Clothing Department.
Now that they had tied up all the loose ends and had succeeded in throwing that woman out of the company, Lina had invited them to take a snacks break in Wade's office.
Though they felt odd that Lina had so casually instructed Wade to arrange the snacks and refreshments for them, they followed after her nonetheless.
The person who was most pleased with this outcome was none other than Leon who got to watch an entertaining show and was now being fed tasty treats.
While everyone was enjoying their time, snacking on the cookies, Lina was trying to figure something out.
"Why do you think she was so adamant and so arrogant even when her job was at risk?" She muttered as she raised her head.
The sounds of random crunching and munching came to an end when her words were heard in their ears.
If Maxene Kang had truly feared for the loss of her job then she never would have been so haughty as to demand to be fired at the end of the entire episode.
This question brought a frown to their faces as this seemed to be a real thought-provoking question on their part.
"Maybe she is just sick of this job." Leon answered with his mouth filled with the cookies.
As he had spoken abruptly, he had immediately choked after he had come to the end of his sentence.
Lina shook her head and for once, she realized that this was why Mrs. Ping always chided her when she spoke with her mouthful.
'Idiot!' She scoffed at the greedy man who had shoved a cookie into his mouth just before speaking up.
As she raised her hand to pat his back, someone was a step ahead and had done the same.
'Oh ho? What do we have here? When did they become so close?' She wondered as an amused smile appeared on her face.
The reason for this smile was because of what had just happened.
Lina was seated between the two men yet this had not stopped Benji from leaning over her to pat Leon's back.
She bent forward to give her huge assistant space to move and then glanced at Leon's face with a teasing smirk on hers.
However, when she saw the choking man's face as he received the car of the other man, she could not help but laugh out loud.
Leon gritted his teeth when he felt the heavy hand thumping his back to stop him from coughing incessantly.
"That's enough!" He yelled out which made Benji halt in his attempts to help the man.
Lina turned around and glimpsed at her assistant and was surprised to see the evil glint that had quickly passed through his eyes.
'He did that on purpose!' She exclaimed in her heart and narrowed her eyes at him.
He had fed her super spicy noodles from hell a few days ago and now he had pranked Leon while he was choking.
'Looks like he has a lot of free time. I need to assign some new tasks to this guy.' She confirmed what her next steps would be and then turned away.
Benji, who was trying his best not to let the smile appear on his face, was ignorant of the sudden workload that would hit him in the next few days.
Once Leon had stopped panting and chugged an entire glass of cold water, he rubbed his stuffy chest and grimaced when he straightened his back.
'That musclebrain used too much strength!' He glared at Benji but Lina shielded the man's view as she sat up straight once again.
The other men in the room were rolling their eyes at this childish behavior while one man was happy to witness this scene.
'My Benji is behaving like a normal man once again…' Kirk realized as he continued to gaze at the threatening glances that the three were shooting at each other.
"Where was I?" Leon whispered to himself while trying to remember what he had said before he had choked.
Lina leaned in and repeated the words that he had said before the entire choking episode.
"Ah…" He exclaimed after he was reminded of the last thing he had spoken.
"Maybe, she is just done with the company and she used this as an excuse to say 'Sayonara' to Obsidia." He mentioned while rubbing his chin in deep contemplation.
After he had completed his sentence, the jovial room once again fell into silence as they pondered over the speculated reason for her behavior.
"As you all know that she had been here on a contract basis and was supposed to stay until the previous analyst comes back from her leave." He revealed the facts that had been known to them.
Nods were seen all across the room, indicating that they were aware of this fact.
"So who is to say that she wished to leave the place before her contract is done with." He raised his brows and glanced across the room.
'He seems to have a point…' Lina agreed with what he had said and sat in silence.
"If that is the case then conventionally she would be asked to pay an exorbitant termination fee for breaching the contract ahead of the time mentioned in it." Anthony Shen chimed in as he furrowed his brows.
Wade frowned when he realized that he had just played into the hands of that woman like a pawn and he did not like this feeling for a single second.
"That is one cunning woman." Stephen muttered when he understood her plan all along was to get fired from Obsidia.
This way, she achieved her goal without having to pay the fee for the breach of the contract.
"But why would she wish to leave Obsidia?" Lina's immature mumbles brought their attention to her.
'My company can reject her but how dare she reject my company?' She growled in her heart as her wrath against Maxene grew larger after this truth was made known
What they were believing to be the truth was nothing more than a gross misconception on their part and there was no one who could show them the real truth at present.
Wade rolled his eyes when he heard her as he was sure about what she was thinking at this moment.
'This girl! Can't she look at the positives in this scenario?' He shook his head at her childish attitude.
"The fact that we have managed to revive your dead image in the eyes of the employees and have thrown that woman out is what we need to be grateful for." He explained and hoped that she would let this matter go for good.
Under his urging eyes, Lina sighed and gave him a nod indicating that she would not ponder over this any longer.
'I have to inform Ruby about this!' She remembered her boyfriend who was resting at home under her commands.
As she pulled her phone out, her view was blocked by a head that had popped in.
"Do you mind?" She scowled at Leon who was being a peeping Tom without trying to hide it.
This question made the assistant to chuckle sheepishly as he sat back in his position but his eyes never left her phone.
'What is she trying to hide?' Detective Leon Jiu was back in business when he saw her tilting her phone to avoid his line of sight.
This action of hers made the phone's screen come into the view of the other men who sat next to her.
Benji rolled his eyes when he saw the name of the person for whom the text message was being drafted.
However, the one next to him had his eyes glued to the screen and had caught every word that had been typed and sent to someone else.
'Who is this 'Ruby' and why is there a heart after the name?' Stephen Jin narrowed his eyes as he glared daggers at the screen which was occasionally being blocked by his Noona's pretty fingers.
