Chapter 378 - You Know The Signal

In an abandoned building on the outskirts of the city,

There was an eerie silence surrounding the place as the building appeared to be dilapidated and had a horrible stench in it.

The moss built up on the walls due to the water which was still leaking through the ceiling in certain areas made it hard for people to breathe properly when inside it.

The building was dimly lit as it had been deserted for years and the fact that it was the underground parking lot added to the gloomy atmosphere in it.

One person sat inside a car that looked just as broken and run down as the parking lot in which it was situated.

The person inside had their entire body covered under a thick layer of clothing which seemed suffocating just by looking at it.

Not even the face was spared as it was hidden behind a dark and low hoodie and a black mask whose task was to cover a major portion of the face.

The part that could not be covered by the mask was concealed behind the thick black sunglasses which looked odd in this dark area where the car was parked.

No one could make out the person who had put in a lot of effort to maintain their identity a secret from others.

The person had been seated in this smelly parking lot for about 20 minutes but the person who was supposed to be here was no where to be found.

"Where is he!?" A gruff and low voice that could only belong to a man was heard.

Gloved hands gripped the steering wheel tight and the eyes hidden behind the glasses scoured the area as though they were in search of someone.

The suspicious person who sat in the driver's seat of the rusted car tapped his finger in impatience, awaiting the arrival of someone who should have been here a long time back.

A phone rang, disturbing the eerie silence in the parking lot which brought the person's attention to it.

Not a single expression on the man's face was visible as he was completely hidden behind his perfect disguise.

His thumb was about to slide over the phone's screen to answer the call but he halted before he could complete his action.

'He's here!' The person exclaimed and declined the call when he noticed the headlights of another car as it came in from the opposite side.

Two cars, one rusted and old-looking while the other a budget sedan was now parked opposite each other.

The headlights that were glaring at the man's face disappeared when the car was taken off the ignition.

He did not step out of the car nor did have any intention of greeting the other driver.

He sat in the same place and waited for the signal that they had decided upon before coming to this meeting.

Just as he had expected, another round of ringing of the phone was heard in the rusted car.

However, this time the caller tune was a different one and it belonged to the second phone which was on the passenger's seat.

A small and compact flip phone which was a stark contrast to the large and sleek smartphone laying next to it on the seat.

The light flashing on the flip phone made the man pick it up and flip it open before placing it to his ear.

"The consignment is ready. You know the signal." A soft voice was heard coming from the phone.

In reply, the man did not speak anything but hung up and flicked the headlights of his car thrice then twice, and then once with equal intervals between each turn.

Receiving the signal that they had decided as proof of their identities, the newcomer got off the sedan and walked towards the rusted car.

The masked man in the car watched as the other man walked to his car and stopped when he was right next to the driver's window.

"The package?" He inquired with his gruff voice, making the new man nod.

This new man also had a mask on his face but he had not gone through such great lengths to hide his identity as the other man had done.

"The money?" The second man retorted with a scoff.

He had completed such deals multiple times in the past so he was well acquainted with what needed to be done in such situations.

He would not speak a word further if he did not see the money he was promised for the mission he had been given by this masked man.

The driver rolled his eyes in mockery but they weren't visible through his thick and dark glasses.

In the next moment, a large bundle of cash was thrown onto the face of the man outside his car.

This sudden action startled the man outside but he was quick to retaliate as he caught the bundle without letting it fall to the ground.

Running his fingers through the bundle which was his remuneration for this mission, there was a smile on his face as he nodded his head.

He, just like the man inside had done, tossed an envelope onto the face of the person inside the car.

With this, he had exacted his immediate revenge and also completed the mission he had been assigned.

The masked man glared daggers at this disrespectful action but he had forgotten that just earlier, he had done the same deed.

Not bothering with his anger, the newcomer strode back to his car and got inside following which he drove away without hesitation.

"Who does he think he is!? A mere cheap man who would do anything for money!" The masked man growled as his fist slammed into the steering wheel.

The sound of teeth gnashing against each other was heard in the silence which soon disappeared within seconds.

Glancing around the parking lot of the abandoned building, he decided that he needed to vacate from this place as soon as possible.

He could not waste any more time in this place as his presence was needed elsewhere.

With this thought in his mind, he clenched the envelope he had gained in exchange for the money and shoved it into the glove compartment.

Now that the package was secure, he turned the ignition of the car on after which the rusted car creaked and croaked as it began making its way out of the parking lot.

The car made turns and traveled to a higher floor where the exit of the building was located.

He drove the car out of the building which was the perfect place for the deal to be executed.

The lack of people around this area and the absence of security cameras gave them the confidence to not be caught as that could be hazardous for their future plans.

Looking left and then right, the man made sure that no one was present to bear witness to the car exiting the abandoned building.

Once he was assured of his safety, the car zoomed out of the building and onto the uneven roads which led to the city where the next destination was.
