As crazy as that seemed, the Pain Resistance skill jumped from level seven to level ten, but that seemed pretty obvious since Luke felt all the pain in a single instant, and that paralyzed his body. He began to fall down, and only when that happened was the moment Rina and Shalia notice what had happened. The enemy had one heck of a hidden card.

"Lu… Luke?" Rina asked with her eyes wide open.

"Heal him already!" Shalia shouted.

"I can't heal vital organs that fast…" Rina said.

"How useless can you be… I will buy you some time, just keep him alive," Shalia said and then kissed Luke before assuming her normal form.

"Buy time, you say…" The overlord frowned. "Your power level is below his. What exactly can you do?"

"How about this?" Shalia asked and then summoned a spinning fireball.

The magic projectile was spinning quite fast for some reason, but Shalia didn't stop there. She began to pour more mana into the flames until they began to change from red to yellow. When he saw that, the overlord raised his guard again, but then he stopped when in the corner of his vision, he saw Luke getting up. Even if Rina was the queen of the elves, her skills weren't supposed to work that fast. Still, he saw the hole in Luke's chest was still there. The wound was slowly closing… Rina was trying to keep him alive, but he still managed to keep himself awake. Due to his anger and focus, he couldn't let that bastard win like that, he also couldn't let himself fall before taking him down with him.

"I suppose I will have to kill the queen first…" The overlord said.

Luke bit his lips in annoyance… he grabbed his weapon and then decided to use Weapon Augmentation. Still, before that, Shalia fired her fireball. For some reason, she was sent flying in the opposite direction, and then the overlord struck the spell with his spear. In the next moment, the entire area trembled, and a massive explosion happened that made all the smoke dissipate in all directions. She didn't hold back and her power was quite something, still... Luke knew that it wasn't enough.

When the dust that was raised due to the attack disappeared, they found the overlord emitting some heat from his body, and Shalia clicked her tongue. She had caused some damage, but not enough. The opponent was too strong… Still, Luke got up and prepared to fight.

"Luke… I can't heal you if you are too far away," Rina said. "Besides, if you lose your head as well…"

"I get it…" Luke said while still feeling shivers due to the cold on his left chest.

If it weren't for Rina, Luke would be dead by now. If Shalia weren't stalled for a few seconds, Rina would never have had the chance to heal him. He almost lost all that because he grew attached to a stupid weapon. Regardless, Luke could feel miserable later. Right now, he has to defeat the enemy in front of him.

Luke used Weapon Augmentation level six again, and an even more powerful shockwave flew toward the overlord. As if that wasn't enough, the elemental effect of the weapon made it look like a gust of arctic wind had been added to it. For the first time in the fight, the enemy showed a look of surprise and assumed a defensive stance. It only lasted for a moment, but Luke saw that.

Once the skill ended, Luke and the others saw a sea of ice in front of them. Everything in a five hundred meter radius had been frozen… and in that sea, a single ice statue was standing out with some cracking and slightly trembling. It was quite surprising, but the overlord had been frozen and was having a hard time freeing himself. Luke didn't let that opportunity go to waste… he equipped his bow and then used Weapon Augmentation again.

The weapon cracked without firing anything, but then something fell from the sky and landed on the area… something invisible… Luke assumed that it was gravity since he couldn't see signs of physical objects, and the entire sea of ice was now ten meters below the ground. The overlord statue also broke and revealed a wounded figure on the ground. He was bleeding from the eyes, nose, and ears… Luke sacrificed a rare bow, but he still delivered a pretty nasty attack.

Despite all that, the overlord still managed to get up. One of his legs was crushed, so he had a hard time standing still. However, he still was a tough opponent to kill…

"That isn't… the Weapon Augmentation…" The overlord muttered.

Luke ignored that nonsense and looked at Shalia. She nodded, and then Luke tried to create an ice bow, even without having the same power. Using that skill again would solve the problem. However, while he made an ice bow with her help, the skill didn't work.

"Shit…" Luke said and then used his remaining mana to create a water spear, and then Shalia froze it.

The overlord was recovering pretty fast… so they had to hurry. Still, when they finished the projectile, he dashed toward them and tried to cut Rina's throat. Luke moved the ice spear and blocked the strike. Still, the projectile got many cracks in it. 

Before he could do anything else, Luke used Weapon Augmentation and fired the spear. However, the overlord used the same move he used to pull a hole in Luke's chest and destroy the spear. He did the same thing again and again when the other projectiles appeared one after the other and almost crushed him, but only the last one managed to knock him down on the ground.. Still, Luke didn't receive any notification… The tough bastard was still alive.
