"Look, Anna. Charles is carrying Nancy. What now? Are you jealous?" Standing at the door of her office, Jessie stared at Charles' back until they were out of sight.
"Yes, I'm a little jealous. I don't think Nancy is good enough for him. But Charles doesn't seem to like her that much. He could still have a change of heart. I guess, if Charles learns about Nancy's dark past, he won't even lay his eyes on her." The viciousness in her eyes as she spoke was unmistakable.
"Everyone knows about Nancy's past. She had a child at a young age and out of wedlock. Well, are those people who have stayed and studied abroad that liberated?" It didn't take long until Jessie realized that Anna had gone abroad too and just came back recently. So, she quickly added, "I mean, a woman like Nancy who didn't have parental discipline. You are a well-educated and courteous lady from a rich family. You are far different from Nancy. Ha ha..."
Anna just shrugged it off
uld face once her identity was exposed?
The mere thought of it scared her.
In the eyes of the society, it was more hateful and unforgivable to have a child for someone else than to have an illegitimate child, wasn't it?
"I love you!" Charles replied directly.
Instead of answering, she just bit her lips.
Charles smiled and asked slowly, "Nancy, do you love me?"
Nancy smiled awkwardly. "Mr. Fu, why are we talking about this serious matter now? We should focus on our career first!"
Through the rearview mirror, he saw that Nancy's face had turned red.
So he stopped talking.
He thought that he should find out as soon as possible if she was the woman from five years ago.
In silence, he drove her to the supermarket.
Because her foot was injured, he asked her to wait in the car and write down the things she needed to buy. Charles was the one who went out to shop.
Unexpectedly, Nancy bumped into her classmate from college.
