Aware that Edward couldn’t refuse her, Nadia pouted her lips and looked at him with her puppy eyes, obviously trying to use her cuteness to her advantage.
"I promise that your daddy will never hurt your mommy," Edward uttered, bending over to level the young girl’s gaze.
"Why did mommy call daddy's name?" The innocent kid crossed her palms together anxiously. Her young mind couldn’t make sense of the things around these adults. They seemed pretty complicated, yet Nadia still wanted to know.
"You should never go out unless your mommy calls for you, okay? Do you understand?" By the looks of it, Edward sounded like an uncle reprimanding the little girl.
"But why?" The young girl was still utterly confused, sporting her furrowed brows at Edward, who tried his best to reason with a child.
"Nadia, just listen to him, okay? After we make coffee, I promise you can go out." Bobby, who was gifted with the skills of reading people's expression, already deduced that his parents were doing something that kids shouldn't see. Otherwise, Edward wouldn’t wear such a perplexed look on his face.
"Really?" Nadia raised her head and asked with a pair of wide eyes.
"Yes, of course." Flashing a smile on the kid, Edward was relieved that Nadia was finally persuaded. He didn’t know that reasoning out with a kid could be this tiresome. Lucky for him, Bobby was there to save and help him.
Meanwhile, on the corridor upstairs were Char
. Fortunately, the stubborn man was able to keep his cool and act decent.
But after hearing how Charles’ voice blared and penetrated the bathroom, Nancy thought that he probably changed his mind.
"I want to go home," he uttered, intently staring at her with a vague expression.
"Oh, okay." She took a deep breath and ran her palms on her legs. Why was she overthinking? It turned out that Charles just wanted to leave, but why did she think that he was about wreak havoc the moment he shouted for her name?
Charles wanted to tease Nancy, but when he saw the shyness on her face, he turned to his son and said, "Mommy is a silly woman. You and Nadia should look after her, okay?"
"Daddy, don't worry. Dad is here." A cunning look flashed across Bobby's big eyes as he pointed at Edward.
However, when he heard how his kid addressed the latter, Charles’ face turned utterly grim. He had planned to tell Bobby not to get too close to Edward. But hearing as how the young boy just called the man only added fuel to the fire in his heart.
Didn't his son know that Edward was his rival in love?
"Daddy, Bobby is right. Don't worry. Dad, Bobby, and I are the people who love Mommy the most in the world!" Blinking her big eyes innocently, Nadia flashed her father a big smile.
At this point, Charles almost lost all his patience, seeing as how both his kids had chosen to defend the very man who wished to steal their mommy from him.
