Chapter 249 - Coma

Victoria arrived at the castle as the maids and butlers bowed to her. She needed to walk past them before they stood. She didn't know the setup but she rushed to the King's room and the doctor just came out. The doctors bowed at her as she entered.

"Grandpa?" She called and rushed to the bed. She was disappointed not to see him awake. She looked at her husband who seemed to be frustrated and silent. She reached his hand. "What did the doctors say?" She asked.

"He's in a coma."

Victoria fell silent and shook her head.

"No. He's not in a coma." She insisted on him.

"Victoria,"

"Kenz, he's your grandpa." A tear instantly rolled down her cheeks. "We still have to celebrate Christmas, New Year… and our wedding."

"His heart was failing,"

"Then let us do everything."

Kenzo hugged her tightly and that's when she realized that she needed to shut up and comfort her husband.

"He's going to wake up. He still needs to see our kids. Right?"

"Yes," he said hopefully. "Why won't you rest, my love? Take a nap or anything."

"I will stay with grandpa."

"Okay," he shoved his face to her neck as she patted him.

"You take a break, my love. I will take care of grandpa."

Kenzo unwrapped his arms from her as he stood. He left the room and rushed directly to their bedroom. He shut the door as he leaned on it. Then he sighed, closing his eyes hard. His heart ached so much. There's a lot of things that happened today and it's already dark and they should have their dinner. But how can they eat properly when the King is ill. How can they eat properly when Prince Caleb is critical. However, he needs to stay strong for his wife and the people of Great Greivania.

He went to the bathroom, took a warm bath, and dressed up for dinner. He went to his grandfather's room and approached his wife.

"I already called Secretary Bryan. He will stay with grandpa. Let's have dinner."

"I~I don't have an~~"

"Victoria, you just said that you need to be healthy."

Victoria hesitated. She never saw him this irritated so she stood and approached him, and held his hand.

"Alright, calm down." She said softly. He pulled her closer to him and hugged her. He pressed his lips on top of his head and the soft knock on the door interrupted them.

"Come in." He said as the door opened and Secretary Bryan bowed. "Please be with grandpa until we are done with dinner."

"Yes, your highness."

Kenzo smiled at his wife tightly. The couple left the bedroom and they went to the kitchen. The trusted Butlers tasted every meal in front of them including their drinks. There's so much food. Victoria thought that it's too much. Shortly, Maverick came and he bowed at them.

"Have a seat," Kenzo said as Maverick pulled a chair and he sat down. He looked down at his plate as the Duchess started eating.

Maverick picked up the spoon. He stopped and wondered if his wife had eaten. He hesitates on reaching his phone but then he must know. He tapped on his phone to call his darling. Shortly, she answered.

"Babe!"

"Have you eaten?" He asked softly.

"Yes, mom makes delicious foods and I have a sweet dessert. How about you?"

"We are currently in the dining hall." He grumbled.

"Alright, I will speak to you later. You have to eat, okay?"

"I will. I love you." He grumbled.

"I love you. I love you! Bye," She hung up and then he sighed and had no choice but to eat.

Victoria knew that it was an awkward dinner but none of them spoke. She only focused on eating the salad and next was the dessert distributed to them. She felt happy by only eating the dessert and she looked at her husband who only took a spoon of it. He put down his dessert.

"I'm going to grandpa." He said.

Maverick looked up at him as Victoria pouted at the dessert.

"Victoria, finish that." He said as he moved closer to her and kissed her cheeks. "Do you somehow want to sleep in Grandpa's room?"

"Yes, please." She smiled up at him. She looked at Maverick who nodded. "So, Stacey's alright?"

"Yes, she is." He pursed a smile and took a whole of the desert. "This is good. We should try to make one, Vi?"

"Sure. I was planning on making my hubby new desserts. I don't care if he complains about getting fat." She giggled and then she stopped when she realized that the King wasn't better. "Christmas is near, I hope that grandpa will wake up." She mumbled.

"He will don't worry." Maverick comforted her."

Shortly, Victoria and Maverick walked back upstairs to the King's room. They were surprised that Kenzo was working and he's currently using his grandfather's table.

"Love?" She called and there's a long sofa where they could sleep.

"I will also set up my workplace here. I don't think that I can sleep after what happened."

"We can make midnight snacks later," Maverick said as he approached the bed. "Grandpa, you shouldn't just keep sleeping. We have delicious midnight snacks that your gorgeous grandsons will make."

Victoria smiled.

"Shut up, you rascal." A grumble could be heard. They all stopped and rushed to the bed.

"Grandpa?" Victoria called. "I thought you were in Coma?"

"Not yet." The old man had his eyes open. "Why are the three of you here?"

Victoria was overly excited as she nearly lunged at the King. But she sat down and held his hand.

"Those assholes thought I was in a coma." He coughed and reached for the oxygen mask to remove it. "I spoke to those doctors before." He sat up gently.

"Grandpa, this isn't a game!" Kenzo exclaimed. "You scared the hell out of us!"

"It's the only way, Kenzo." He sighed and looked around. "Is Kaisley alright?"

"Yes," Maverick said. "She only has minor injuries."

Victoria hugged the King as the King was overly happy about his granddaughtersweetness.

"I was sleeping peacefully but the three of you thought of partying over my corpse." He patted Victoria's head. "A week of stress-free days will make me recover, my dear."

"But how and why?"

"Yes, I collapsed and they gave me vitamins through my nerves. I told Secretary Bryan not to tell you all. But if the King was in a coma it would give people the thought that the Empire would be weak. It will also be the thought of the enemy."

"Okay, so what will happen now?" Kenzo asked.

"You will be the acting King for a while, Kenzo."

He sighed and shrugged.

"How about Westeria?"

"Leave it to your old grandpa." He waved it off. "Then, how is Caleb doing?"

"He's stable but still under strict monitoring," Victoria said. "Prince Philip and Princess Kaisley are with him."

"Alright, bring me something to eat, Mave. I don't know which of the two of you is going to cook for me."

"I will do it," Kenzo said.

"No. I will do it." Maverick said. "I think you should stay. Are we up for ramen later? I mean, I will prepare the ingredients. I will probably make a feast since grandpa is joking about some coma."

"I can help," Victoria suggested.

"Wait." Kenzo raised both of his hands to stop Victoria and Maverick. "One of us should stay here."

"How about you stay here?" Victoria asked Mave. "Kenz and I will cook and I think you should relax more since you are tense. You can cook tomorrow if you want."

"Fine with me." Mave decided that he needed to monitor closely. He has a lot of work to do that he needs to send to Kenzo while Kenz will take action.

"It's fine, bro. Will get a chance to show off your cooking skills to grandpa." Kenzo laughed while patting his back.

"Are you fine with seafood ramen, grandpa?" Victoria asked. "We can make others if you want."

"I am fine with everything. But hurry up." The old man yawned. "I'm going back to sleep, okay?"

"Everything will be ready before you wake up," Victoria said happily.

"Thank you, Crown Princess." He held her hand. "You will be trained in what the Queen should do."

"But, isn't Grandpa Philip the next in line?"

"If Kenzo or Maverick isn't here, he doesn't have a choice. But wanted to chill and not work as a King. He's quite lazy, you know."

Victoria giggled as she hugged him again, feeling so much happy.

"Let's go, love, and check out the ingredients," Kenzo said as he sighed. "I"m happy that you are an awake grandpa. We will surprise you with the food later."

"That's good then." He waved it off. "I am looking forward to it."

Victoria approached her husband and hugged him tightly. The couple was happy before leaving the room. They removed the grin on their faces as they came out of the King's room.

"And some tea?" She asked.

"Maybe milk." He suggested.

"Okay.." She held his hand as they walked downstairs."
