Chapter 54 - The Scheme

His wife looked happy as she woke up early and exercised with him with the self-defense that he taught and then, they cooked breakfast together. He was a happy husband. He took a bath and was about to get his things ready. But everything was settled. His wife organized it yesterday. He went downstairs to leave. However, he found his wife packing a few lunch boxes.

"Hey, here's your snack and your freshly squeezed juice." She put it on the thermal lunch bag. She gave it to him and followed him to the parking lot.

"Thank you, wifey." He kissed her lips as he placed it at the compartment box of his motorbike. "Don't stress yourself, okay?"

"Don't worry about me." She smiled. "I'll drop your lunch later since I'm going to the clinic to pick up my result."

"Do you want me to come with you?" He asked.

"No." She shook her head. "I'll take care of it." She held up his jacket and he slid his arms to it. He kissed her passionately first and then he put his helmet on.

Victoria watched him leave and then, she locked the gate. She went back inside her house and closed the door as it automatically locked. She washed the dishes and the pans. Then, she went to the recipe book as she chose something easy to cook for lunch. She isn't a pro but she could still cook something for her husband.

She even bought a good vacuum lunch box for her husband. Well, at least it is one way to please her husband besides sex.

She was busy cleaning when the doorbell rang. She went quickly to the door and checked the person outside through the monitor. Secretary Bryan? She went outside to the gate. She then opened the small gate letting Secretary Bryan in with two bodyguards who were holding two boxes.

"Secretary Bryan, what a surprise? My husband just left."

"Oh, we are here for you, Miss Victoria."

"Oh," She nodded. "Come in."

She escorted them inside as Secretary Bryan told them to put the boxes on the wooden coffee table.

"What can I get you? Water? Tea? Ice tea?" She asked.

"Please don't bother yourself. My boss wanted to give these to you as a gift. He enjoyed the food you gave yesterday."

"I am glad that he enjoyed it. But it's nothing. I can't accept such gifts."

"Please, Madam. These gifts are very useful, Madam."

"Oh," She mumbled.

The bodyguards even opened it for her.

"Kenzo told us about your situation."

"Situation?"

"That you have an illness. So, I bought all of the herbs that would help you from your syndrome."

She flushed.

"Excuse me from my words, Lady Victoria. I am sure that you'll be happy to have kids, and Kenzo too. So, these tested herbs that are made into a drink will help you. Just drink it every day. Plus," He took out a small rectangular box. "This is a special gift."

She accepted it with two hands as she removed the ribbon and opened it. It's another box. She then opened the velvet box as she gaped at the most beautiful fountain pen.

"It has your name too in here." He pointed to where it is located. "Then, serial number."

"This is too much."

"Milady, what you did yesterday made my boss happy. He never ate such foods that made him happy for a very long time." Secretary Bryan said sincerely. "These things don't compare to the happiness you gave to him."

"I~~I don't know what to say…" She giggled. She sighed and bowed her head. "Thank you. My cooking skills aren't that good. But I will surely make him another. This time was different as soon as I had practiced enough."

"It'll be a pleasure, Milady."

Victoria watched them leave. Her heart was pumping loud as she entered her house. She admired the fountain pen with the addition of ink. It looked so expensive that it needed a serial number. It only means that this gold and platinum fountain is that much expensive and only a large number of people can have it.

Kenzo received his lunch box from his wife and he gave her a lot of kisses. He told her to meet him up later after she took the result. He was quite worried about letting her take the result from that hospital. Maybe it's just his intuition. Her current doctor was working on the whole Parson family and he just thought that since her mother isn't angelic as she looks, he became more cautious to avoid her from being hurt.

"Brother-in-law." A familiar voice called. He turned around and stared at the familiar woman.

"Do you have a moment?" Katarina Joan asked. He glanced at his wristwatch.

"Five minutes will do." He said. She chuckled.

"Come on, it's just a little time. Coffee? My treat."

"No. I already drank coffee."

She pulled his arm like they are close to each other as she pulled him back inside the cafe. He flinched from her and gently pulled his arm from her. She sighed and nodded. He sat down on the vacant seat without pulling a chair for her. She sneered inside her head and took a seat.

"So, I heard that Victoria got terminated…"

"She resigned," Kenzo said coldly.

"Okay, she resigned… Do you think your life with her will be easy?"

"No. But we get through everything as a real husband and wife does." Kenzo said. "Katarina, get to the point." He said impatiently.

"You grew arrogant." She smirked. "Alright," She took out something from her purse. A paper and gave it to him. He stared at it at two point six million dollars. "Here, run away. I know that you don't want to live this kind of life. This money is enough to buy you a luxury life."

"Oh," Kenzo took it and stared at it. "Why should I run away?" He asked.

"I only want you to leave her. She doesn't deserve you." She said confidently.

Kenzo smirked.

"I can consider this as a honeymoon package, right?" He asked. He ripped it off. "I'm sorry, but I'm already sold." He stood and fixed his coat. "To my wife." He smirked at her. "Excuse me, sister-in-law. I need to work for my wife." He said sardonically.

He went back to his office to do his job. Yet, he kept glancing at his phone checking for Victoria. After finishing the last file for the day, he stood from his seat and called Victoria. She's not answering after a few rings and it takes a while when she answers.

"V, you worried me too much."

"You are there…" She mumbled. Her voice hoarse, sounds like she's crying.

"What do you mean? Where are you?"

She continued sobbing and it broke his heart instantly.

"Stay on wherever you are. I'm coming." He didn't hang up as he left the office quickly. He took a cab to the hospital. From the other side of the phone, Victoria kept crying. "Hey, baby. Stop crying. Calm yourself. I'll be there before you know it."

"Make sure that you'll come. Okay?"

"Yes… I promise. I won't hang up. Okay?"

His heart was racing at the moment. He didn't know what happened to Victoria but he's so worried.

"Sir, can you please go a little faster?" Kenzo said.

The driver nodded as he went faster. They reached the hospital and then he paid him more than the cab fare. He rushed to the parking lot of the hospital and searched for his wife's car. She's still inside the car crying. He ran to the car and knocked. He opened the passenger seat and sat beside her. She crawled to him and hugged him.

He hung up and put away his phone. He hugged her tightly. He exhaled finally relieved to see her safe. She pushed him and smacked his chest.

"Why didn't you run away?" She asked.

"What do you mean?" Kenzo creased her brows.

"I thought you ran away with that money." She hiccuped.

"Oh," He chuckled and scooped her face as he wiped her tears. "Babe, I didn't take it."

"Why?"

"Well, it's just two point six million." He said. She laughed a little and frowned. "Babe, I should take it. Right? Then, we are going somewhere for our honeymoon and took a break from stress." He said softly.

She sniffled and hugged him again.

"I can't have a baby. I have tumors on both ovaries. They said that it needed to be removed before the cancer spread." She said as she burst into more tears.

He froze at what she said. It's not true… Kenzo breathed as he thought of why Katarina approached him on this day. The same day that she'll know that his wife has become miserable from the news.

"Hey, it's not true. Okay?"

"They said it on the papers. On my ultrasound…" She sniffled as she showed it to him.

"If you have a cancerous tumor on both ovaries, they wouldn't figure it out at the same time for one test. They have to take your blood and run other tests if you have cancer."

"What?" She asked. He wiped her tears again and searched for a bottle of water that he always stocked. He opened the cap that still has a seal and gave it to her.

"Love, this is why we had another test from a different doctor, right?" He tried to comfort her but her mind is a mess at the moment.
