Chapter 248 - 248 The Picture Frame (Part 2)

"Jiao'er! Why?!" Peizhi banged his table that was now free of things. He breathed hard and his eyes glinted viciously. He pulled his drawer and got a picture frame. In it was a woman in her early twenties. Her black hair was straight and was just passed her shoulder. She was carrying a bouquet of flowers that he had given her and her eyes turned crescents as she smiled brightly.

She was very beautiful. If October would see it, she can identify the woman in the picture.

That's right. It was October's late mother, He Jiao. But Peizhi knew her as Sheng Jiao. He had only met her in his university. They were classmates turned into lovers. He was very attracted to her. Not only was she a beauty like no other, she was also funny, down to earth, and smart.

Then their love pushed them to marriage which soon bore fruit. And then his business was going great. His wife was brilliant and even helped him in managing his company. It was great. They were happy.

However, their happy days were slowly dwindling. The brilliance of his wife was just too brilliant, almost too dazzling that he had to cover his eyes. He had become a shadow. The directors and investors liked her. They greatly respected her...more than him, the President and CEO of the company.

Hate.

Hatred grew bigger and taller in him. All the love he had for her got swallowed and converted into hatred.

He stared at the woman in the picture and his eyes turned bloodshot. He does not believe in karma. He had just did what he needed to do and now he had just experienced a setback. He can climb back up over and over, just like he did from back then.

"You are my past. I won't let you or your daughter pull me down. I am already happy and I won't let you overshadow me." He muttered under his breath as his hold of the frame trembled. "Never!"

*Smash*

Peizhi threw the picture frame hard on the marble floor. The glass broke into a thousand pieces and flew in every direction of the room. Peizhi's breathing hitched as he glared hatefully at the broken picture frame.

'Why did I even keep her photo with me all these years?' He does not want to be haunted by his past anymore. He thinks that this woman was October. October was part of his past. And now that past of his was starting to ruin his life a second time.

'No. I will not let that happen.'

Just as he was about to look away from the photo on the floor, with the little bit of moonlight that passed through the window, he noticed a something white, like a piece of cloth or paper beneath the picture.

His brow twitched. After thinking more about it, he crouched down and picked it up. It was a piece of paper.

"What is this?" Peizhi asked himself, curious of what it was. The paper was hidden behind the picture which was very odd. This could only mean that this piece of paper was deliberately hidden by someone and that someone could only be He Jiao, his dead wife.

He switched on the lamp on the wall and opened the folded paper...no, papers to read it's contents.

It said:

[ Dear Peizhi,

I am really happy to have met you. Even though you don't know my family or even asked about them which was really a relief, even though your parents were against us being together, you fought for the two of us and chose to be with me.

I was happy. I was contented.

And then there's Lanna. My dear Lanna. She's my bundle of joy. She's my sunshine in the rain. I know that we are getting far from each other and I felt that you are colder to me. However, I only ask you to take good care of her for me.

I love you...I still do.

Love,

Jiao]

Peizhi's hand trembled and crumpled the endge of the paper slightly. He was not expecting to have a letter from her all this years. If he did not smash the picture in a feat of anger, he would not have known this hidden letter.

[I know what you're planning.]

His hand shook violently as his complexion turned white. So what was the meaning of this last note she had written?

'If what she meant was what I think it is, then...she still stayed and let him do it to her.'

Immediately, his blood run cold. His mind went blank and his eyes were just staring fixedly on that last note.

After a moment, he turned to another page. It was a letter of deed and legal doc.u.ments.

Peizhi read through it and the more he readm the wider his eyes got. And then he stopped.

"Ha...ha...hahahaha!" He broke out in a loud and ecstatic laugh. He was happy. 'What a fortune. I did not expect that something like this had happened. He did not expect that He Jiao was so deep and had done something behind his back.

He looked at the doc.u.ments on his hand for confirmation and his smile widened even more. He had really landed himself a treasure c.h.e.s.t.

"Don't worry, wife. I'll use this to watch over our daughter well...closely."

Fu Yung, after hearing Peizhi calling a woman's name with so much emotion, she could not take it. It was a blow to her heart. She immediately run away to her room and slammed the door behind her.

"Jiao...Jiao..." She bit her nail as she tried to remember where she had heard that name before. And then it hit her. "That's his late wife's name, Lanna's mother."

'Why is he calling her name like that? Why now? Did he miss her? No.' She immediately eliminated that thought. In the years that she was together with Peizhi, she had never heard him utter anything about his late wife. And she did not ask about it. All she knew was that the woman looked almost exactly like Lanna.

Fu Yung paced back and forth as she thought of a lot of possibilities. But she could not think more. She was starting to get so frustrated. She then went to get herself a drink of wine. She needs to calm down.

After that, she called a maid to pick a wine for her. Shortly after, the wine arrived and she immediately poured herself a glass and drank it. The burning sensation of the wine that was also sweet trailed down her throat.

*beep*

Her phone unexpectedly sounded, making her turn her head toward it's direction. She picked it up with not much interest in it. Her brow then raised as soon as she saw who it was.

It was from Elise.

Fu Yung snorted and laughed mockingly at Elise as soon as she read it's content. However, she still replied to her.
