Chapter 273 - 273 Elise's Confession (1)

Nobody said a word. October calmly drank her fresh fruit juice. She did not look at the woman sitting opposite her. Her posture as perfect, elegant even. There were no extra movement in her that Elise could point out making her stare at her in a daze.

'I knew that Lanna is pretty. People who have met her will automatically feel drawn to her but could not. It was like she was a calm breeze in a sunny day but when near, a cold wind will make you stop a few feet away from her. I am one of them too before but unexpectedly, by luck if I may say, because of that one coffee that was spilled on my dress when we collided with each other, I took a step forward and entered her "zone". But now…'

Elise smiled bitterly in her heart. Her heart was uncomfortable as she once again got hit with that harsh wind that surrounded October. This can only mean that she their friendship was no more, that place she occupied before right beside this incredible woman had already been wiped away.

She bit her lip, peeking at October from time to time. She had a lot to say, a lot to explain, but she does not know where to start. She just choked.

*Clack*

The sound a cup being put down on the table made Elise flinch and snap her head up to look at October.

"Long time no see…Miss Feng."

Elise felt suffocated as a sting was felt in her heart that immediately made her face pale.

'Miss Feng…?' She snorted derisively at herself. Just this kind of address was enough to let her know her standing.

"…yes, it really was, October." Elise forced a smile on her face while her clasped hands tightened. It was so tight that it started to tremble and turn purple.

"Mm…" October slightly frowned, feeling somewhat irritated. She felt that something does not ring well. Suddenly, she gave out an "ah" sound before looking straight at Elise with a warm smile and condensed eyes that could make people held their breaths once seen. "I don't like to be called that anymore. I would rather you call me "Mrs. Song." Yes, it sounds more pleasing to the ears, don't you think?"

"Ye-yes, it really…does." Elise gritted her teeth. Even though she can feel the coldness and thorns in October's words, she still forced herself to smile. But then, October gave her a look and her face looked blank that made her pause for a moment before adding, "…Mrs. Song."

October nodded her head in satisfaction but the warmth on her face was now nowhere to be found.

Again, silence descended on them. It was gloomy and suffocating, especially so with Elise. Finally, she can no longer take this uncomfortable atmosphere that surrounded her any longer as she dropped herself on her knees with red sad eyes.

"I'm sorry, Ber, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to do you any harm. I was just too panicked. I didn't know what to do. I was scared at that time when I knew about it. I didn't know! I just…I—I'm sorry." Elise burst into tears. The guilt that was gnawing in her heart before had now been revealed. Somehow, she felt lighter. Just that, there was no sound that came from the woman sitting in front of her. She timidly looked at October with her teary eyes full of sadness, embarrassment, guilt, all kinds of emotions mixed together.

October quietly looked at Elise who had suddenly knelt before her, burst into tears and started to ramble words that was not too clear. Though she already had an inkling of what she was talking about; however, she felt that the grievances she had before had already acc.u.mulated. She does not want to do any harm to people but why does it seemed like they always came knocking on her door? Does it really seem like that she was easy to bully? That was weak? She shook her head in ridicule.

Elise looked at October and saw that there were not emotion on October. This only made her feeling get worse as tears continued to roll down her cheeks.

'Cold…why is she still so cold? I already apologized to her. I even knelt in front of her and cried but she's still not moved. We were friends for years. How…how can she be so indifferent?'

Elise could not believe it. She just saw October a while ago show a warm smile but right now, in the face of a crying her, she did not blink, frown, there was not even a slight change in her eyes. Nothing! She was hurt. It was truly incredulous.

"I don't seem to understand why you're on your knees, Ms. Feng." October said, unconcerned. "Ms. Feng, don't look at me like that. It would seem that I was bullying you. Please, stand up and clarify things?"

Choked, Elise felt like she bit her own tongue. She was apologizing wholeheartedly, crying her eyes out and yet it was still not clear? Does she really want her to confess?

"Bear…I'm sorry."

"It's Mrs. Song." October said in a sharp tone and narrowed eyes. She's really unconcerned about the title of "Mrs. Song" but she does not know why but in front of Elise, she could not help but use this title of Lexus' wife to oppress Elise. And it felt good. If she knew that it would feel this good, she would have used this long before. But then again, the exposure was just too much and she does not want that kind of attention.

"Bear, I am really sorry. I confess, it was my fault. I had a hand on it. I—I was forced to do it." She cried again, covering her face with both hands with her shoulders shaking while she sobbed. Tears continued to pour. It dropped on the floor and sipped into the carpet floor.

October did not feel anything as she looked at Elise who she once called "friend." Not a single twitch was felt in her heart aside from coldness that was coursing through her veins.

Was she really this unfeeling? Heartless No, that's not it. She has already felt the turbulent emotions that swirls around the word "love" with the help of Lexus. Then the only thing that's left now was that the feeling that she had locked at the very bottom of her heart, her dark emotions.

'I'm tired. I can't say that I am running away from their ridicules and schemes but rather, I don't want to deal with people who are not worth my time. But I'm tired of always getting pushed around by these people any longer.'

"Well then, Ms. Feng. You started to kneel before me and started talking gibberish, words that only you could understand. But you said that you were at fault and that you confessed. I'm tired of your bllshts. Tell me, what exactly is it that you wanted to confess?" October narrowed her eyes and unconsciously rubbed her bulging belly.

"Gi-gibberish? Bll—sht?" Elise blinked her teary eyes, dumbly looking at October with wide eyes. She felt like she heard something she could not quite swallow.

'Did October just curse? At my face? From the years of our friendship, I've never heard her curse at all. How come now?'

October's brows furrowed in annoyance as she looked at Elise coldly. With this, the air around them turned ice cold and the pressure on Elise heightened. This scared Elise even more and her face turned pale. And then, her face became unsightly at the next words she'll hear.

"Elise Feng, I've known you as a bright person. However, the way you are now, I am really doubting myself if I have good eyes…well, I guess not knowing that…" October trailed as her eyes sharpened while looking at the kneeling woman who had already become a total stranger to her. "Miss Feng, let's cut to the chase, what is it that you want to tell me? Speak!"

This time, October had really become annoyed. All this time, Elise had knelt in front of October to ask for forgiveness. It was like this but October, though acting confused and ignorant, did not say that Elise could stand up. And so, Elise knelt for a good half an hour.

A stinging sensation was felt on her knees and numbness started to crawl on her toes and lower leg but all Elise could do was to whimper and look at October with pleading eyes. She had started this. She came here to confess but all she said before were apologies, asking for forgiveness, and gave out vague confessions.

A butler came in and poured another tea for October. The unusualness of the situation inside the room was clear and yet no one in the mansion said anything. They did not care. They never even glanced her way and looked at her with pity. None!

Elise felt humiliated. She felt so little and insignificant. Even October was looking at her like a total stranger.

After the butler walked out again, the room was still silent aside from the quiet sip of tea.

"Miss Feng, I don't have much leisure time as you so—"

"I drugged you!!!" Elise blurted out with her eyes squeezed shut. She did not dare look at October.
