Chapter 274 - 274 Elise's Confession (2)

October's hand that was holding a cup shook, almost spilling tea on herself. She turned her cold eyes on Elise who had now dropped her head, not willing to look at the disappointment in October's eyes.

"I was the one that put a drug on your wine while you got distracted with the guys who were hitting on you." Her voice was so soft like a whisper. It shook. As if a video that was played in her mind, the events of that night and the nervousness and guilt yet had resolution surfaced yet again.

October pursed her lips into a thin line as her eyes narrowed. She placed down her cup back on the table and folded her arms over her c.h.e.s.t as she waited for what else Elise was going to say next. Though she looked calm on the outside, there was storm inside of her.

'Ha. How blind was I before? Though I already have my speculations, but still.' October tasted the bitterness in her heart. Truly, she was a fool. 'And now listening to her words that came out of her own mouth, her confession was more painful than I had ever imagined.'

Elise did not hear any response from October, not even a snort or a sigh. However, despite the uneasiness she felt, more than anything, the nail stuck in her heart was finally removed and made her feel light.

She pursed her lips and decided to come clean. She has already gone this far so it's better to say it all now, right? With a look of determination, she looked up straight at October's eyes and said, "I met Zhihuan when I was visiting my family at City A, a short vacation. It was like a love at first sight. He came into the store and his every movement was strong, sharp and flawless. That manly aura, that charisma, he was releasing came from his very pores just couldn't make my eyes leave him even for one second. It screams and grabs attention to everyone around him. And then, many other coincidental meetings, without even meaning it, my heart has already been stolen by him. It was like…fate."

'Why am I listening to a love story here now? Also, she fell for that quite immediately.' October blankly looked at the now blushing and shy Elise. 'But then again, I couldn't say much about myself since I also got married to a man I barely know.'

"That kind of feeling was so sweet, exhilarating, addicting, and just joyous. You understand me, right? Right?! I know you can relate to me, October. Just without him by my side even for a split millisecond, I feel empty, desolate. It was as if the world went bland." Elise played with her hair while blushing.

"…" October did not respond, not wanting to listen anything more. If there was one thing, then she has to admit that she does sometimes feel off when Lexus was not there by her side but not to the extent of getting addicted of him. That just sounded so weird. Wait, how does this relate to her even?

"If you want to tell me about your blossoming relationship with your boyfriend, find someone else. I don't have time to spare for this nonsense."

"N-nonsense…" Elise felt stumped at the harshness of October's words. Nonetheless, she still went to continue what she was saying while letting out a dry cough. "As I was saying, after our continuous meetings, we started dating. It has already over a year now."

"Miss Feng." The cold voice of October wrapped around Elise, freezing her stiff. "Is this what you're saying to me relevant to your apology a while ago, to your confession? Because as far as I know, all of those that had happened between you and your boyfriend had nothing to do with me. So if you have nothing else to say, I'd rather you leave. Don't make me use force and toss you out."

"I—ah…le-let me explain. October, I was still your friend for five years and yet why are you acting so indifferent, uncaring, cold? You're acting like we're total strangers. Are you forgetting those years we've shared?" This time, Elise could not help but raise her voice out of bitter indignation.

October's eyebrow raised and her eyes turned significantly cold while looking down on the still kneeling Elise on the floor. Without her knowing, her slender and white fingers had tightened on her arms. The more she listened, the deeper the lines were in between her brows.

"How can you just throw all of those years of friendship we had? I treated you like a best friend, no, my sister. But you still chose to be so cold to me and let me kneel on this cold floor for more than an hour. Cruel. Just cruel. October, you're so mean." Elise's third batch of stored tears flowed down so beautifully down her pink cheeks. She looked so pitiful as if she has been bullied so ruthlessly by a black-hearted person.

"Elise, are you listening to what you're saying to me just now?" October felt like laughing. There was mirth in her eyes but now warm, instead it was so cold with a breath of death. "I've never thought that you were such a good comedian. Also, your acting is quite passable too."

Elise's cries stopped as she looked at October. Just that look was enough to make the hairs at the back of her head to stand on end and it also made her blood run so damn cold. Her train of thought was paused as she could feel her heart drop and mind went blank.

Somehow, Elise instinctively felt fear and wanted to run but her legs had already gone numb from kneeling for so long. It was visible she was shaking from the terribly heavy and dark pressure that October was giving off. Her momentum was too tremendous.

'October…had she always have this kind of presence? Was she this scary when angry? No, in fact, her pretty face was always blank, devoid of emotions, and I had only seen her ever-so-small smiles for only a couple of times. It can even be counted with my fingers. And now, to think that I would see October show such a hard, cold look with eyes as sharp a double-edged sword.'

Elise felt like the woman before her was a person she had never met before, like a total stranger. The face was the same but that was it. It was as if she was meeting October for the first time.

"October…" She stuttered but October only waved her hand and called for the butler to escort the "guest" out.

"Elise, I really treated you as my friend and I have to thank you for taking care of me. However, I am not so stupid as to not know what you truly were thinking. As you've said, we've been together for so long, that in turn let's me know who you truly are. But I'm very surprised. To think that you did not even mention that woman during your confession. Ha! You must have truly trusted her so much that you'd do everything she asks you to. And yes, Elise, I know that you've had contact with her. Just bear in mind that I am not such a forgiving person who would let people step on me. Not now, not anymore."

After saying her piece, October turned around and went upstairs. The loud commotion made by Elise was completely ignored by her. She was already tired and wanted to sleep. Aside from that, she thought of wanting to eat some eggs and olives. Yes, just thinking about it was making her hungry. But she's also sleepy.

After having a little bit of dilemma, October finally decided to give Lexus a text of what she wanted to eat before heading to the bedroom to sleep on Lexus' side to smell his scent. She had found it very comfortable being wrapped around his scent. And when she wakes up, she'll eat a ton of those.
