Chapter 9: The Claim

Adam Florenz's POV

I cannot believe it that I was confessing to Fauna to want to make our relationship work and she said yes. She just made me the happiest man alive as I was smiling while I was working at my table as I was looking at the list of volunteers for the drug test.

"Yo, Florenz, I heard that your girl was that woman yesterday. Dean's pretty pissed," my partner said as he was looking at his case. I scoffed before I turned to look at Dean at the reception.

"Why should he?" I asked in earnest, wanting to know why was that the case.

"you see, Fauna Kent was the wild child during her school years and I think Dean said that he claimed her virginity. He thinks that he was the one that should be marrying Fauna," my partner said before I turned sharply at him.

"what?"

"You know this person, think they have the woman's first, they would belong to them. Fucking sicko," he said as he was grunting while I heard Dean was laughing with some officers.

"Are you sure about this?" I asked him before I can see red.

"Yeah, positive. If you wanted to, you can ask him as well," he said as he was pointing at Dean who was trying to punch the air in a combat style. He laughed with his friends before I scoffed again.

that man has claimed on my Fauna? My bride? We'll see about that later, I thought before I took my jacket and I went out of the station.

"yo, where are you going?"

"home," I said as I was running down the station before I caught a look on Dean. He was smirking smugly as I can see in my peripheral view as he was talking with his friends. I was seeing red now but I will not try to make it all obvious that I was affected. I have to confront Fauna for this. I'm sure she was at her office downtown.

I got inside the car and started the ignition and without further ado, I was speeding off to downtown to get some answer for these rumors.

I can see that the WWF headquarters were busy with submission, papers, journals and scientific journals that were being passed around. I went to the receptionist earlier if I could meet with Fauna, the Romance language translator. She said that I will find her on level 3.

and here I was, looking at the people that were buzzing around and the shouting and the phone calls and all of that shit. How can Fauna work in this kind of environment?

"Hey, you're looking for me?" Fauna's sweet voice was coming from behind as I turned to see that she was coming from the side door. today, she was wearing a grey cardigan over the pink summer dress that she had on. And she paired it with a black plump.

"Hi," I said as I went to kiss her. She still for a second before she kissed me back. I smiled as I broke the kiss.

"I thought you were busy with a case?" She asked me as she was leading me to take a seat. I was thankful for the havoc environment, she was calm and collected like she was. Maybe she was getting used to all of this.

"yeah, have you had lunch yet?"

"yes, I have just now with my colleagues. Are you here because you wanted to get lunch with me?" She asked as she was smiling at me. gosh, I would anything to keep that smile.

"well I was but now that you already ate, I think I have to eat alone after all," I said as I was sulking at her. She laughed and it brought a smile on my face.

"well, I would be free for dinner if you wanted to take me out then," she said as she was looking at me, hope was in her eyes. I smiled inwardly that I was proud that she wanted to spend more time with me, without the constraints of her parents or mine.

"well, see you at 6?"

"no, make it 7. I hate rush hour," she said before she stood up as she was ready to go out of the room. I stood as well.

"I see you later then," I said as I went to kiss her. This time she did not still but merely put her hands on my chest as I can sense her response. I smiled before I perked her lips again as I was smiling down on her.

"well, I see you later," she said as I went to the stairs and get out of the building.

the question will have to wait and I cannot wait to shove it to Dean's face.

Later that evening, at 7 PM sharp, I was standing there in front of Fauna's building as I was waiting for her. The air was so chilly for summer but hey this was Seattle, it can be anything right now.

as I was doing something to my hands to keep it warm, I saw Fauna was walking with her friend. I don't know if I should know this person but she seems nice and harmless and they were talking animatedly as I was waiting for Fauna to approach me.

"good evening," she greeted me before I pulled her around her waist to smash her body heat with mine. She seems no mind as I took her mouth and kissed her squarely.

"ready for dinner?" I asked her as she was taking my hands into hers. She grimaced.

"have you been waiting for so long?" She asked me as her wide green eyes were looking sternly at me. I smiled at her as I shook my head.

"no, I just arrived when 10 seconds after that, you walked out of the building," I said honestly.

well, you're freezing," she said as she was wrapping her hands around mine.

"I was not used to this kind of weather," I said as I was smiling at her. She ushered me to get into the car as she helped me to the driver's side.

"I should hold your door. That what's a good gentleman do," I said as I was protesting to open her door.

"nonsense, I would not have you hold it if you were freezing to death. And besides," she said as she was looking into my eyes,

"I already knew you were a gentleman," she whispered but I caught it. I smirked at her.

"well, don't let that blind you then," I teased her. She laughed.

"well, I already know your weakness, Mr. Sunshine," she said as she closed the door before getting inside the car. I switched it on and she turned on the heat. I sighed as the hot air came into the car.

"better?"

"much better," I replied before I asked her what she wanted to eat. She said that I choose, so I was deciding to get some Mexican food. She nodded in agreement as she was looking out the window as I was holding her hand before she tensed up.

"we're about to get married, meu amor. I think it would be awkward if people think you don't enjoy my touch,"

"who said I did not enjoy it?" She replied. I squeezed her hand.

"well, you tensed up when I reached out for you," I said as I was turning to look at her briefly. She was blushing before I smirked at her as I was looking at the road.

"don't tell me you feel shy?" I asked and she blushed to get a deeper shade of pink.

"well, I don't have much contact with the opposite sex," she replied timidly as I was gripping her hands and I put our entangled hands onto my thigh. She gasped but she just stays quiet for the rest of the ride.

after I parked the car in front of the restaurant, I turned to look at her as she was looking at her hand on my thigh. I smirked.

"so, I have an urge to ask you a question now," I said as I was looking at her. She did not look at me. I need to look at her eyes to know if she was lying or not.

"look at me,"

She did not move an inch as she was merely looked at her hand now.

"look at me, meu amor, please," I said as I was raising her chin to meet my eyes with her wide green orbs like an emerald. It always holds something in her eyes.

"yes, Adam?" She whispered as she looked at me. I was smiling at her as I was caressing her cheeks. She leaned into it.

"say, do you ever had any lover at all?" I asked her as she was looking at my face. Her knocking eyebrows tell me what I needed to know.

"what do you mean?" She asked as she was confused with my question.

"well, what I mean is that meu amor, do you ever had sex with anyone?" I blurted it out as I looked at her mortified face. She was stammering as she was blinking at me.

"Why would you—I don't— gosh, this is a very personal question, Adam," she said as she was looking away from me, I hold her in place.

"Please, just tell me," I asked her as she was lowering her gaze.

"Fauna?"

"hmm?" She replied.

"can you tell me the truth?"

"yes, it depends on the question," she replied before she was biting her lower lips.

"do you ever slept with Dean?" I asked and instantly her eyes were looking straight at me.

"Dean who?" She asked me.

"Dean at the station. I heard that he has slept with you and he claimed your virginity," I said as I was trying to consume my anger inside me. I need to know her answer before I marched down to that station and beat Dean senselessly for touching what's mine.

"and if he did, what will you do?" She asked.

"I will beat him right now," I said as I released my hold on her and getting out of the car. Fauna followed me as she stopped me in my track.

"where are you going?"

"to beat that motherfucker," I said as I was trying to get out of her hold before she told me something that I have been waiting for.

"Adam, I did not sleep with him nor did I sleep with anyone at that matter," she shouted before some of the pedestrians were looking at us stranger.

"Are you sure?"

"yes, I am and I never had a boyfriend before, so how can I sleep with—" the rest was forgotten as I was kissing her on the street before I was pushing my tongue inside her mouth.

"good," I said as I was looking at her as I was holding her close to my body. I can smell her arousal as it penetrated my nostrils.

"because I hate sharing," I said before I kissed her again so that she will only remember me in this kiss.

but tomorrow, I will kill that motherfucker for distributing such gossip about my woman, my bride, my love.

and I smiled as I thought the last one.
