Fauna Kent's POV
The lunch was scrumptious and I was full, to say the least. I was not that focused on the meal but on the animated chat that I have with Adam. He was a very interesting guy as he told me stories. He has done quite of traveling in Europe. I wished I could go there.
"So, there I was trying to overcome my fear of heights as I was walking on the abandoned bridge. No wonder they called it that way, it was just the way the history that surrounded it. And I think Danial and I would never do that again, ever," he said as we were walking toward the car. It was an early evening already and I don't want this to end.
"Okay, so I think we can go back to work now. Or maybe you would love to come tomorrow?" He asked me as he was looking at me. I don't want to sound eager so I just nodded. He seems relieved with my decision.
Maybe he wanted to see you again, after all, my dark mind corrupted my thought and for the first time, I don't shove it at the back of my mind. I think I liked it.
"Well, maybe I can send you home?" He said as he was opening the door for me. I got in and thanked him before I was looking for my phone. Shoot, I just leave it at his house.
"Damn it, I left my phone," I said as I was looking at him. His eyebrows knotted together.
"Do you left it inside the restaurant?"
"I don't think so, I haven't look at my phone ever since. It must be at your house," I said as I was looking at him. He nodded before he started the engine and we were on the road to get back to the suburbs where he lived.
"Okay. Let's get inside for a second. coffee?" He asked me as he looked at me. I laughed.
"Well, you know I only took tea with lemon after eating,"
"Right, I forgot. Maybe put that as a checklist for our new house items,"
"House items?"
"After we get married, we will be living together,"
"Oh," I said as I was sure my face was red. But I think I like to think that he and I will be together and no one will disturb us.
Yeah, I like that much.
"Huh," he said as he was looking at the door. I peered behind him as I looked at the door as well.
"What's wrong?"
"What do you mean?" I asked him as he put his finger to his lips, gestured for me to be quiet for a while. He asked me to follow behind him before he went into the house the unorthodox way, the back door.
He was walking with his back to the fences. I did the same as I was looking at his tensed shoulders and he was looking for any traps or threats that might be lurking out there.
"Stay here," he said as he went inside the kitchen by using the window before I was looking at his disappearing form. It was too intense, too quiet before the door was opening.
"Clear," he said as he opened the door and ushered me in. I was behind him again as he was looking around the room. Everything was in order, I think as I don't know about his house more than his eyes.
"Nothing's missing," he said as he went to flick on the switch before I shrieked as I saw someone was sitting on the sofas.
"Jesus, man. Can you come through the door like everyone else? And if they were out, that means wait outside," Adam said as he was hugging me because I was as white as a paper right now that children might think I was a ghost.
My pale complexion did not help either.
"Well, if I have been waiting for you, the real intruder would have snatched this away," the man that was sitting on the sofas said as he was standing while holding my translation.
"And I must say why they were interested in this. It has so many details than I would have gathered myself," he said as my heartbeat was back to normal.
"Danny, seriously? That's your excuse? you can do better than that," Adam said as he was releasing me as I don't realize he was hugging me like I was so precious just now. My face heated up.
"Is this her?" Danny said as he looked at me. I hid behind Adam as I don't trust this guy.
"Hey, back off. She's taken," Adam replied as he put his hand around me. My heart warmed at the gesture. Danny chuckled before he looked at Adam.
"Dude, I just wanted to know who has your heart. Do not worry, I will never make a move on a lady unless she was interested in me," he winked at me. I scoffed at him before rolling my eyes. Adam smirked at my gesture.
"Well, you have your answer," Adam said.
"No wonder you have fallen for her. She was one of a kind," Danny said as he was chuckling before flopping himself back onto the sofas.
"So, care to explain why are you here?" Adam asked him as he was looking at both of us.
"Well, one of Lucia's men was here. And he was more dangerous than I thought they would all be,"
"Why? What have you learned?"
"Well, for one they were strong than human-like Vampire. And two, they have an ability that made them almost metahuman," he said as he was looking at my reaction.
Vampire?
Meta-Human?
What was this, X-men?
"Well, that's the least of your concern. Before he ran out, he said to me that they will come for you," Danny said as he was looking at Adam and me, lingered on me for a while before he looked at Adam again.
"Well, what do you interpret that?" Danny asked Adam as he was rubbing his face with his hands. I do not understand this conversation at all.
"Hey, maybe I should get going. It was getting late and I think I let you do your work," I said as I was looking at Adam. He looked at me briefly before he looked at Danny. He was hesitating, I can see it in his eyes.
"Fauna, I don't think it would be best for you to go home by yourself now," he said as he was gripping my arms. I arched my eyebrows at him.
"Why not?"
"It's not safe,"
"From who? I have not made any enemy, I think, well if you think someone from High School but I think she was way over me now—"
"Fauna, this is not funny," Adam said as he gripped me even more.
"So do I. If I cannot go home, can I at least go to my parents?" I asked him. He shook his head.
"That's not an option. We cannot risk their lives and I have to keep it that way," Adam said as I can sense that Danny was watching us right now, too eager to hear this love quarrel between us.
"Danny. You should leave us,"
"But I think you might need to listen to what I have to—"
"Now," Adam said with authority that it made chills on my bones. I never know that he had that kind of voice in him. He has been a sweet gentleman to me these couple weeks.
maybe I haven't known him at all. I barely scratch the surface.
"Okay. I see you tomorrow then," Danny said as he was walking out through the front door. Adam did not nod nor he shook his head. He just looked at me as I can sense that Danny was out of that picture.
"Fauna, remember that time when I said that I have a crime to solve?" He asked. I nodded. He sighed as he pulled me to sit at the sofas. I took it as he kneeled in front of me, holding my hands with his.
"Well, that bad guy wanted to hurt me and I cannot let her have the leverage on her. It would ruin me and I don't, no I can't lose you, Fauna. We just found each other and if anything happens—" all his words were on his throat as I kissed him squarely. How nice that was, the kiss without any care in the world but I know that I have to break it.
"What was that for?" Adam asked me as he was smirking at me. I never initiate any kiss at all, well maybe at the fountain.
"I just wanted you to shut up and maybe forget about this threat of yours?" I said as I was caressing his cheeks. He smirked before he kissed my hands.
"Well, I can't and I won't. If anything happens—"
"Nothing will. I will be safe and if it makes you happy that I will stay for the night, maybe I will keep your mind at ease," I said as I was smiling at him.
"You will do that for me?"
"Well, we were about to get married so what's with sleeping together anyway?" I told him before I just realized what it meant.
"I mean, in the most platonic way possible," I said as I sensed my face was red as a tomato right now. Adam smirked.
"Well, Ms. Kent, I never thought you were a direct one,"
"Shut up," I said as I was hitting him playfully on the chest. He laughed and I think I was smiling at him.
"Okay, it settled then," he said as he looked around the room before he ushered me to the bedroom.
"Change and stay here. I need to do some swiping and I will come back after that," he said as he kissed me on the lips.
"Be careful," I said as he nodded and closed the door of the bedroom, watching my love go to do his work.
