Kagura's keen hearing naturally took in their conversation. Kagura dumbly sat in her seat unable to think.
She was not a mortal, it explained some things in her mind.
The elder is mother's father...meaning he is her maternal grandfather. Her father is a God who fell in love with her Mother a Demoness, who died giving birth to her.
Grandfather becoming a doctor was all due to his strong will to cure mothers illness. He spent years experimenting and trying all sorts of methods to help.
Yet fate was against them, before he could completely cure his precious daughter she died!
He was useless as a grandfather, his own granddaughter was taken from him inside is his own territory!
Her father was sentenced to make up for his actions, as it was a taboo for a God and a Demon to be together!
The great gods usual fierce and upright appearance took for a turn, he was wracked with guilt and sadness. He was unworthy to be her father, he couldn't even protect her mother.
The emperor was indeed angered by his son's actions however he was soft on him and seeing his depressed state, let him out after eighteen years. The gods seemed to have forgotten that although time seemed slow to them, time in the mundane world goes by a lot faster.
The life force of a mortal is tremendously short compared to theirs.
By the time he was released his daughter would already be a young woman.
Kagura looked at the two who returned with a blank expression. "Is it true?" although she already knew the answer she wanted to make sure she didn't hear wrong. She never intended for the elder to shed tears and apologise to her for not finding her sooner.
Kagura did not know why but seeing the old man on his knees crying and saying sorry made her heart feel uncomfortable.
"Please don't cry, Granddaughter feels sad" Hearing her refer to herself as his granddaughter moved his old heart, causing more tears to flow down his face.
He started to resemble those anime characters with waterfalls flowing out of their eyes.
Kagura's eyes widened slightly as the elder hugged her while petting her head as if comforting a child. An explicable sense of warmth rose in her heart, different from how she felt when Masamune held her but still made her feel loved.
She wrapped her arms around the elder resting her head on his shoulder. Masamune felt warmth at the sight but also jealousy, he did not like others touching her even her grandfather causing himself to laugh mockingly at himself.
The elder happily bid the husband and wife goodbye. Kagura felt embarrassed when the elder, her grandfather directly called her his little princess. Other than Masamune, she has never been treated so tenderly.
She was not an unreasonable person and did not expect much from others thus her reactions to things that would usually cause others to faint from shock was faint.
Kagura was truly relieved.
The next few days, Masamune sent a dozen of his skilled men in search of the ingredients and Spiritual cores. Each ingredient was very rare, however for his wife he did not care for his wealth.
