Chapter - 60

'How about Prey among Predators?' Amber suggested. She had this sly smile on her face looking at Alex's confused face.

'What?' Alex was confused by this name that sprouted out of nowhere of which he could neither make a head nor tail of.

'Brilliant,'

'Wait... wait... wait... What am I missing here? What's this all about prey and predator? Who's the prey? Who's the predator?' Alex wrote in the chat.

'Why don't you guess?' It was Hazel again in the chat.

'Are you guys sure the Prey is not the Predator?' Ellaine asked in the group. It was evident that she was still holding a grudge against Alex for yesterday.

'Don't be a spoilsport, Ellaine. You are taking it too far,' someone wrote in the chat.

'That's true. I like this new name,' Hazel wrote.

'Yeah. I also think it's quite funny,' Jennifer also expressed her approval.

'I concur.'

'Me too.'

Everyone expressed their agreement.

'So it's decided, the new name is 'Prey among Predators,' Hazel said, and soon the name of the group changed from 'Ladies of the PR' to 'A Prey among Predators'.

'Guys, but this is not the issue we need to discuss,' Ellaine wrote in the group.

'Then what are we going to talk about?' Hazel asked as she wrote. She completely forgot about Karen and that issue.

'We need to think about the issue with chief Karen,' Ellaine said as she brought their focus back on the problem at hand.

'True, but what can we do about that?' Jennifer asked.

'Let's send Alex to test the waters,' Ellaine suggested. This was the perfect opportunity for Ellaine the exact her revenge on Alex.

'Why me? You all must be more experienced in something like this,' Alex, who wanted to do that earlier, was now afraid after his chat with Hazel. Also, the previous encounters between him and Karen may not be favourable to him. And if he was really the reason behind her fight with her husband, just thinking about the consequences he would have to face after walking through that door made him shiver.

'We are sure that Karen's foul mood is somehow, in some way connected with you,' Hazel wrote, 'You will have to take responsibility.'

'That's only a possibility. And moreover, you can't send me alone. Didn't you say she we will devour me raw?' Alex said as he didn't want to be slaughtered all alone.

'Let's send Amber with him,' Ellaine wrote in the group.

'I think someone experienced should go instead of me with Alex. If he gets cold feet, the experienced person will be able to pull him out,' Amber said as she conveniently threw the ball in someone else's court.

'The newbies are getting smart, day by day,' the ladies praised Amber.

'Let Jennifer tag with Alex,' Hazel said.

"But why me? Hazel, you can also go along with Alex," Jennifer objected out loud, looking at Hazel. She was usually the calm one and has never rejected helping someone, but this was something more than just helping someone. She can't possibly risk her job.

"How about Ellaine?" Jennifer suggested. It was no more a chat on their desktops.

"Not me. I won't go anywhere with this pervert. What if he molests me on our way there."

Ellaine stood up in a flash and said, pointing at Alex.

"When did I molest you? You were the first one to come and crash your lips on mine yesterday," Alex was not going to take the accusation lying down, "Look at the pot calling the kettle black," Alex looked at everyone else for support.

"You are calling me a pot?" Ellaine asked, shocked by Alex's words. Alex has been quite defiant for some time now.

"Who do you think?" Alex said with a smirk.

"Alex! You have been..." Ellaine wanted to beat the shit out of Alex, but just as they were fighting among themselves, the door of Karen's cabin opened. Karen walked out of her office and looked at all of them. The ladies could only shrink their necks and act like they were busy working on seeing her. Alex and Ellaine also stopped their bickering and sat back in their seats, staring at their desktop screens.

Karen stood there silently, looking at all of them before she opened her mouth, "Look at my sweet little kittens working so hard. I guess you all don't remember that I am also a member of that 'Prey among Predators' group."

This one sentence from Karen left others in shock. They felt the ground slipping underneath them, 'How could they forget about this?'

"Now stop with this charade. I don't have time for this, but we will talk about this later", Karen said and turned towards Alex, "We need to go somewhere get ready in five minutes".

Alex nodded and started packing his stuff. He had no idea where they were going, but the thought of being alone with Karen made his heart pound.

Soon Karen walked out, and he followed Karen out of the office. Only after the two of them left did the ladies breathe in relief.

There was no exchange of words between Alex and Karen on their way to the parking. Alex wanted to ask about the situation but was hesitant to do so.

When they reached the parking lot, he saw that arrogant Jessica along with another lady waiting for them near a car.

"You are here. Let's go," Jessica said as she got in the car. Karen also followed suit and got in the car. Alex was the last one to get in the car. He sat on the passenger's seat beside the other unknown lady, who was on the driver's seat.
